He then proceeded to angrily curse and flip me off. I didn't know he was the owner of the bar until later that day I went to the bar to use Wi-Fi and saw him again. There is a much better place nearby called Fangaloka Style. And I'm sure the owners aren't running around flipping off tourists. Lol!

The place is clean and modern looking with a beautiful chalkboard and a friendly waiter who was happy to accommodate our late-night drunken and broken Spanish. We had delicious and piping hot croquettes with a creamy interior spiked with salty ham. Their anchovies were standard but really delicious. Finally, at the bartender's recommendation, we had some Morcilla (blood sausage) with a lovely creamy puree. There is so much amazing food in Bilbao, it's sometimes hard to choose where to go to get your fix. In this case, Ad Hoc's unusually extended hours made the decision for us and i'm really happy they did!!

The menu board claims "fresh fish", and I have to admit, I had forgotten how good fresh hake can be, especially if it hasn't been overcooked. So far I've had paella, ensaladilla rusa, beef ribs and that hake, and so far all my meals have been superb.
