As an option of somewhere to grab a bite whilst indulging in some retail therapy, Milano's hovers above your regular fast-food choices...just about. I always find with Milano's that the only really decent thing on offer is their pizzas so anytime I've ordered anything else from the menu I always come away disappointed. I asked for mozzarella instead of goat's cheese on my chicken salad and sure enough, when it arrived, adorned with the aforementioned nasty stuff I was quizzed by my waiter if I was sure the offending item was goat's cheese as it looks the same as mozzarella. The fact that I'd nearly choked upon tasting it (I really dislike goat's cheese and this one was particularly overpowering!) didn't seem to be proof enough for him so he said he'd take it away to check with the chef. Sure enough he brought me a fresh one with mozzarella and sure enough he was very nice about the whole thing afterwards, but it was still more than a bit annoying, especially after waiting more than half an hour for the salad to arrive in the first place! Stick with the pizza, expect to wait a while for your food and for the service to be a bit erratic and you'll get on grand in Milano's - deviate from this and expect to come away a bit miffed by the whole experience. read more

Being a chain restaurant with numerous branches all around Dublin and the city centre, I wasn't expecting much in terms of Italian goodness from Milano, although they do a decent job in terms of having a pretty extensive menu in addition to a few healthier options. I've eaten in a few other branches in the city centre (three of them) before and this branch is pretty much the exact same. I ordered the superfood salad and my friend had a pizza, both of which costed €13.95 which isn't too bad considering the big portions. Having the choice of thick or thin base and customisation for pizzas, as well as gluten free options is a plus. I liked the superfood salad a lot and it had a lot of interesting combinations such as quinoa, chickpeas, mung beans, edamame and a variety of veg. They also have pasta, calzone, risotto, lasagne etc. The restaurant itself is very big with a lot of seats and a nice atmosphere, great for a special occasion. I've come to Milano for many birthday parties over the years and often see others doing the same. They are child friendly with plenty of kids options, a good selection of desserts and free wifi (you can log in via Facebook or email). The downsides were that although the staff were friendly, they were not very attentive. I asked for the bill which never came, so I had to ask a different waitress which was kind of annoying. I found it quite hard to attract the waiters attention in general, but the restaurant is pretty big so it is probably understandable. But otherwise, they were pretty efficient in that after ordering things came pretty fast. The food in around 15 minutes and I got my tea in only a few minutes after ordering it. Poor poor poor. Milanos has just opened in Blanchardstown and what should be a great addition to the sometimes limited food available in the centre is instead a missed opportunity that leaves you feeling short changed. I ate here with my wife and 3 year old this evening and the place was in total disarray. We waited about 35 minutes for two pizzas and a kid portion of pasta. My 12-inch pizza had toppings on the inner 6 inches and the rest was a barren wasteland with occasion burnt bits. The wife's looked better, but both were very thin and very light on toppings, mine in particular. My kid's bowl of pasta was worse though - it is very hard to burn pasta, but it was under the heating lights so long that they managed it - sauce was all dried up too, very unappetizing. The plastic beaker of apple juice that came with the kid's pasta was €3.35, as was my wife's can of Sprite and my can of lemonade - absolute extortion. When the bill arrived, we had been overcharged by about €2 on each pizza, when we questioned this we were told that we had ordered the pizza on this new "Romano" base which was more expensive, but he had ordered the pizza from the "classic" side of the menu and had pointed to the waiter when he took our order. The staff in there all looked shell shocked and completely overwhelmed with the whole situation, while the sous chef continually yelled "PIZZA!" from the open kitchen as the orders piled up with no waiting staff to serve them. So, all in all, I would say to avoid this place for at least a month until they sort out themselves, but even then the food is I think very poor value in that you pay a lot for what you get, which basically is an Italian trattoria which is done so much better in so many other restaurants, even here in Ireland, without the outlandish prices that Milanos are charging. Every time I've gone to Milano's to eat I've been disappointed. Unfortunately, this was no different. The food is okay, but not to the standard you'd expect given the price you're paying. On this occasion the service was good, I can't pick any faults. I ordered a bruschetta to start followed by a Caesar salad. Wait time wasn't bad and my bruschetta was good. Not the best I've had, just good. Same goes for my salad. One thing I will comment on is that my portion was large. I'm hoping this was to reflect the price tag. To finish I had a raspberry sorbet which again was average. For the price you're paying, I'd expect better quality food and a nicer decor. To me it feels like pizza hut's bigger brother. Well Milanos is a big chain so you really know what you're going to get and although it's not going to blow your mind they do a pretty good pizza ! Dublin 15 was lacking a good pizza place so I was really happy when they opened up in the shopping centre. They are reasonably priced and have good portion sizes. They also do a really good gluten free pizza which is almost as good as the real thing. The dough balls for anyone who isn't avoiding gluten are amazing as is the fresella which is a ring of the dough with tomato and garlic butter on top - well worth trying. They have a good selection of wine and beer and have a lovely honey ale you will see in my photos. The staff are nice but clearly over worked and spread a little too thin. This place is always packed and the staff seem to busy to deal with it. I love milanos and was very excited when I heard it was coming to Blanchardstown. However although the food is still good the service isn't great. I've been left a long time before getting to order which usually I have been ok with because they have been busy but the more I go here the more it feels too busy. Almost like they have tried to fit too many tables on too small a space.It's very loud to try an have a conversation with someone in because of how busy it seems. I decided to go to milanos with my housemate before a movie. I can not fault the food as we shared a starter of brushetta which had tasty green pesto. Then for main I had a pizza (italian ham mushroom olives) and my housemate had the buffalo mozzarella salad which I tasted and was delicious. But and theres a big but, service was extremely slow. We arrived in at 7.10 and didn't leave until 8.50. First it took 10/15 minutes to take our order then when we got our starter we did not recieve the water until our plates had been taken away. It took an hour from the time we ordered to the time we got our main course. We asked was it soon coming because we were worried about missing the start of our movie. This was my first visit and probably be my last!. The service was good, nice and friendly staff . The food was nice but not worth the price, people have said that Milano is classier version of Pizza Hut and it is not hard to disagree. I had the American Hot pizza which I have to say was nice but a little overpriced, while the other half had Risotto which she said was lovely, but the portion was so small and was way overpriced The thing that annoyed most about Milano is when I went to pay, I was paying by Card and the staff member gave the option of paying the tip on the card instead of leaving a tip by cash, which I felt was a disgrace, and make me uncomfortable, I am unsure if this is the policy of Milano in generally or just the one in Blanchardstown. read more

Was at Milano blanchardstown last night. We were seated straight away and staff took our order within minutes. We shared the doughballs with 3 dips for starter. It was delicious. We both ordered pizzas and they were served quickly and so tastey. We then had coffees and choc fudge cake for dessert and it was divine. Headed to milano for a date and I have to say, the staff and service was great. It is a laid back, relaxed atmosphere and our waitress was delightful. We ordered the calamari to start... Tasty! I had the displeasure of visiting Milanos Blanchardstown for the first time last week. I met a friend for a catch up and we decided to try Milanos. It was mid afternoon so the place was quiet, with about 10-15 customers. TMI- the menu. I had gone cross eyed trying to process everything that was crammed into the menu. Less is more. Pizza overload. We ordered the bruschetta to start which arrived promptly. What arrived looked like a pizza base with cold tomatoes, swimming in olive oil and pesto. Ok, the toppings were tasty but I'm not sure about the bread/pizza base hybrid? So anyway, we finished that and waited for the main course, I had ordered Pollo Pesto and my friend ordered lasagne. We chatted and chatted and after a lull in the conversation, we realised our main course still hadn't arrived. Now bear in mind the restaurant was not busy at all. 35 minutes later our main course arrived followed by a hasty apology about a problem with the ovens? Having worked in the food service industry for 10 years, I know that stuff breaks and things go wrong, but for the love of lasagne, tell the customer at some stage they're going to be waiting a bit longer!! Most people won't mind, just don't leave us sitting there wondering what happened to our main course! Anyway, the server left down my pollo pesto which looked good. It was then I noticed a nice long black hair embedded into the crust . I pointed this out to the server who apologised profusely and sent over the manager who also apologised and offered me something else. At that point, I had been snacking on the hair and indeed some of my own hair so I was quite full. I declined any further offers of food. However, my friend did enjoy her lasagne despite it's sloppy presentation. We requested the bill which only included overpriced soft drinks and none of the food. In conclusion, poor food and poor service. Milano seems to be going through some sort of identity crisis. Is it trying to be a classy Italian restaurant or a Pizza Hut? Maybe both? Milano Hut? Had lunch and was extremely disappointed. Girlfriends pizza arrived cold. Their solution was to reheat the pizza. Left Mushroom off a ham and mushroom pizza for my daughter. Avoid their version of mac and cheese. It's just cheddar cheese sauce with pasta. Very bland. I've eaten in their temple bar branch many times and have never been disappointed. I took a bunch of 8 year olds to Milanos yesterday for a birthday meal. Food was very good, service was incredible, and the bill was ridiculously cheap: €117 for three courses for eight (6 kids, two adults). Cannot recommend it enough, finally Blanchardstown has somewhere decent to eat staffed by cheerful people who know what they're doing. read more
