Food is ok, but I think for the price and the crowd and being near the center of Leipzig, this is a great place. Reminiscent of an outdoor and cheaper Cheesecake Factory for fellow Americans. Portions are really big for the ice cream, so if you're not a huge sweet tooth, I'd recommend sharing with somebody for one. They have lots of toppings, but honestly some of them are way too sweet and I wanted more complexity in the ice cream flavor or variations. But it's for the crowd, so this is fine. The sandwiches are large as well, but the flavor is quite bland. I found a hair in my sandwich, but I've seen worse so I just picked it out and ate it. More antibodies for me I guess. read more

Don't be fooled by the gorgeous-looking sundaes being trotted out by the waiters; this place is pure tourist crap. For € 6, you get two small scoops of half-melted ice cream with a dollop of fake whipped cream and a sprinkle of pathetically bland toppings. To make matters worse, my entire sundae tasted like it had a shot of brandy tossed over it, which it didn't, which made it taste all the more like absolute shit. You're way better off just grabbing a delicious scoop of Mövenpick ice cream from a nearby vendor for € 1-2. read more

I walked by this place several times on a visit to Leipzig. They have an outstanding location right in the central square with loads of tables outside. On a nice day, it's a great place to sit and people watch. The ice cream dishes that I saw patrons enjoying as I walked by looked very tempting, so I had to give it a try. I came here twice, and also stopped by another smaller stand they had elsewhere in a city for ice cream. On one visit I had the Quarkkeulchen, a specialty from the region. These are pancake like pastries filled with quark that came with apple sauce and some fresh fruit. I ordered this with a coffee drink. The coffee came first, and then I waited quite some time for the dessert. By the time the dessert came, my coffee was almost finished, which isn't what I wanted. I'm not sure why it took so long to prepare the desert, and it came out slightly burnt, which I doubt is the way it is usually prepared. On another visit I had one of their ice cream dishes. it was good, but it looked a little better than it tasted. This is a very nice place to sit and relax but I might try a few other places first the next time I visit. read more

We came across this place through a recommendation from a university student who ate with our study abroad group. It's a cafe/restaurant/gelato bar place. I love that you did not have to eat in to get the ice cream. You can walk past the patio and order some cool yumminess in a bowl or a cone. The people behind the counter were super nice to us poor tourists without our phrasebooks and allowed to sample several flavors. My roomie and I came twice. The first time we had a flavor that was some sort of chocolate with amaretto flavoring and chocolate chunks and pistachios-- it was so, so delicious. When I mentioned that the sample I got was super yummy, the server took my cone back and topped it off with another half scoop! It was devoured before I took a picture. The second night, we came back with two other friends. I got the Pino Penguin flavor in a waffle cone- it tastes kind of like vanilla with streaks of chocolatey nutella running through it. Also super yummy! The prices for gelato range from 1.20-1.70 euro and cones are included in the price. I love that the cones are included (not in the US!) and that you can choose the kind you want. It was the perfect way to end our time in Leipzig. read more

Not the best ice cream, but it did the job.. it was tasty and creamy. The service was a little hit and miss, it took a while for the order to be taken and a little hand waving for attention. The ice cream arrived at different time and it took a while for us to get the attention of the waiting staff to pay, again much hand waving was needed. If in Leipzig and want an ice cream, I would recommend but be prepared to wave a little for service read more

The ice cream tastes excellent, but every time I go I have bad luck with the person who serves me. It happened to me the third time now that I order two scoops to go and the woman uses a small cone. My friend also ordered two scoops and was served by the next person who used a bigger cone, the result was we both paid 2,40€ and had a much different sized ice cream. I wouldn't say anything if it happened once, but it seems to happen all the time :( read more

Excellent ice cream! They have the darkest dark chocolate ice cream I have ever had. Get a scoop of that with the cherry ice cream for 2.50€ and you can't go wrong. read more
