In early December 1787, the thirty delegates (ten from each of Delaware's three counties) to the Delaware ratifying convention were called upon to make a momentous decision. For five days, they considered whether to approve the new, stronger central government proposed at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia the previous summer. Finally, on the 7th, the delegates unanimously voted to ratify the United States Constitution, making Delaware the first state to do so. Delegates gathered at The Golden Fleece Tavern, the same place where the state assembly sometimes met. Only 26 feet wide, there is very little space inside. The outside needs a wash. And yes, it is private property so please be respectful of that when you visit. I'm disabled and need to use a walker both for support and to transport my laptop and accessories. The staff was clearly frustrated with the noise the walker made on the floor. I'm not going to use this facility in the future. I will drive the extra few miles to the Dover library.

It traces the town's timeline from its 1873 establishment and its growth into the 1890's as an East coast resort destination. The inscription reads: "On January 27, 1873, the "Rehoboth Beach Camp Meeting Association of the Methodist Episcopal Church" was incorporated by the Delaware legislature for the purpose of establishing "a permanent camp meeting ground and Christian sea-side resort." With the coming of the railroad in 1878, the growth of the community was accelerated. On March 19, 1891, an act was passed incorporating the municipality as Cape Henlopen City. The name was formally changed to Rehoboth in 1893. Since its founding the City of Rehoboth Beach has continued to be one of the most popular resorts on the Atlantic coast, attracting thousands of visitors each year."
