Great warranty service. My door lock was jammed and wouldn't open all. I called and they located my service invoice (10 years since purchase) and sent me a replacement lock and offered to send a service technician. I have always been pretty handy but looking at the removing the old lock, I decided to accept their technician even though it meant waiting a bit. Glad I did, as the tech had a very difficult time removing the lock. A second tech helped and between then got the lock off and replaced with a new one. I am pleased at the service they provided. My only complaint and it's minor was that I didn't always know in a timely manner what Milgard was doing, or where I was in the schedule. They were working hard solving the problems. Our 2006 tract home was provided with Milgard vinyl windows and sliders. Overall, they have been very good: no leaks or condensation, outside noise is very muted, the windows operate easily and the glass is clear with little solar radiation coming in. In fact we often don't operate our A/C at all because the house just doesn't get that hot, thanks in part to the Milgard windows. Because we are the original owners of this house, the original full warranty applies to our windows as long as we own the house. So what's the reason for the 2-star rating? A Single Big Problem by the factory that is NOT seal leakage within the dual-pane assembly. A simple manufacturing defect that should never happen, but careless factory assembly has resulted in a predetermined outcome that eventually affects a certain percentage of Milgard windows. Here's why we have had to deal with the clunky warranty process. We have experienced the exhibit of iridescent colors on the outside surface of two windows at different times. This discoloration is visible from either side but is clearly located on the outside surface that is exposed to the elements. The first instance happened on a south-facing window in 2020. Only one of the horizontal sliding window pair was affected. The online warranty process was very slow--I allowed some leeway for the effects of Covid-19--but I finally got a local dealer involved to speed up the process. (This dealer acknowledged that they were aware of this kind of defect where an e-coating was located on the outside surface of Milgard windows.) Once the replacement window was manufactured, the first-floor installation took maybe 20 minutes total. I started paying attention to the thousands of Milgard windows in our development of hundreds of homes as I walked around the neighborhood. Here and there were examples of what appeared to be the same defect that affected our window: the iridescent colors that are clearly visible on some of the street-facing windows. Then a second window in our home in an east-facing location developed the same iridescent discoloration. Same clunky warranty process but the newly-manufactured replacement window finally arrived, this time with two guys who were going to install it. Before they removed the defective window, I attempted to discuss with them the fact that the iridescent discoloration was on the outside surface of the window where it was not supposed to be. At that point I don't think I have ever witnessed the speed with which one of the installers reacted to my statement; he whipped out a razor blade and proceeded to "show" me how the iridescent layer couldn't be scraped off the window, "proving" that the dual-pane assembly had lost it's seal, resulting in the discoloration. I've done some research on dual-pane windows with e-coating(s). Without getting into a lot of detail, this coating(s) is extremely thin--a nanometer or so--and should NEVER be located on the outside surface. This bond with the glass is extremely strong so that scraping it off isn't possible without damaging the glass. What appears to be going on is that the dual-pane sandwich assembly has, in the case of our window failures, been manufactured incorrectly or it has been installed by the factory inside-out within the frame, putting an e-coating on the outside where it is directly affected by the elements. To be clear, whether or not there is "seal leakage" on my defective windows, the iridescent discoloration is the result, NOT of seal leakage, but of the presence of an e-coating on the outside surface of the window where is was damaged by the sun and the elements. One of my neighbors now has three Milgard windows in her home that have this same defect: the e-coating has failed on the sun-and-weather-exposed outside surface of the window. Two homes built in 2006 with Milgard windows, now with a history of five total windows defective from the factory. Since this defect has existed from the beginning but took time and sun and weather exposure to be revealed, there could be more defects just waiting to be seen. This is all very unfortunate because otherwise, our Milgard windows have been very good. read more

Very disappointed with the technicians. Had an appointment and tech never showed up nor did i receive a call. Had to call to inquire. Appointment was rescheduled for another day and technician was 1hr late with no phone call. When he showed up, he broke one of the windows he installed and did damage to the framing of another window when installing. Called and complained and new appointment was scheduled to fix damage and replace broken window. A different technician comes out and more damage was done and damage from the 1st technician was not addressed. read more

Milgard Tuscany. The technician was here again today, and we are very disappointed with the results. Technician acted like the vinyl warping we experienced is normal and applied caulk to the areas. There is caulk smeared and is dripping in globs all over our windows frames, which looks terrible. The windows were left with black stuff (including hair) smeared all over the frames. Additionally, we still have not received a solution regarding other issues previously discussed with the warranty department, such as warping of the vinyl, and missing draft blocks. I will not be recommending Milgard to my brother who is remodeling his house. If this is not normal please reach out to let me know how this can be corrected. read more

We had an issue with a couple of Milgard windows clouding, about 15 years after we had about a dozen of them installed. Milgard customer service was great over the phone, and explained how to take pictures and find the information we needed to submit a request for replacement. The technician, Lenny, who came out to do the work was wonderful: polite, pleasant, fast, efficient, and he was willing to work with us when access to one of the windows was less than ideal. He was even gracious about the fact that I was ten minutes late for our appointment at the house. It's hard to find great customer service like this anymore, and I would not hesitate to install Milgard windows again based on this experience with them. read more

Three of my previously (sometime in 2005) installed windows had glass panels that had failed and fogged up. I emailed Milgard and filled out an on line form. That was about a month ago and the repair person just left. He was phenomenal, and the new glass packages look great. I would not think of buying any other brand of window. As long as I have had my lifetime warranty windows with Milgard. They have stood by the warranty. In the past 26 years. I have contacted them 3 times. All 3 times they sent someone out to repair the window. I can say every repair person they sent has been very professional and provided great customer service. The most recent repair on May 7, 2026. Israel was sent out. We couldn't have been happier. Israel took the extra time to help and show us how to care for the windows. If every company had a person like Israel. My experience with Milgard has been great! I have a large slider that is approximately 27 years old and contacted them for warranty service to have track and rollers replaced along with one side of glass which is being manufactured for replacement since its showing leakage. After completing the warranty request online, it took several weeks for a service representative to reply to me and schedule for a service tech to come out and perform the necessary repairs and measure the other glass to be replaced. Fortunately for me they sent out a seasoned tech, Leo who was very courteous, professional and very knowledgeable about what needed to be done to ensure the slider worked properly. After about an hour he was finished and our door opened with ease! Such a delight to know that a company of 70+ years stands behind its product. I'm happy that I own several Milgard products and thank you Leo for fixing our slider. read more

Worst company I have ever dealt with refuses to honor lifetime parts and labor. My wife and I are the only ones that has ever lived in a newly constructed home. We purchased the home directly from the builder after renting for 7 years. MIlgard says we are not the original owners well no one is the original owner unless you built the home yourself. The builder and or lender are the original owners of the property. Milgard only care's about selling their faulty windows and doors. Milgard came out 2 different times during the past 36 years and it took 3 months each time. Many of our windows are leaking or simply do not work.STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU LIKE HEARTACHE. read more

I was first introduced to Milgard Windows and doors in 1993 when I purchase a new home with them installed. I absolutely love their product and service. In 2008 when my rental home needed new windows we purchased Milgard Widows through Southgate Glass. We have had several of the dual panes replaced because of the seal failing (which all dual pain windows will do at one time or another). Over the years we have replaced all the original windows in our 1993 home with upgraded window frames and higher e rated glass. Milgard has been fantastic with any service needed. They even sent a tech out to check out the installation when we had a leak in one. They thought the window pane may have failed but it was an installation issue (they fixed it anyway at no charge). I have found their central customer service to be very responsive (though it is mostly an online process and you need to have your order number off the windows available). Today we had two windows replaced from the install in our rental house from 2008, no questions asked. They had the correct windows and replaced them quickly and efficiently. We had the wrong day on our calendar and hadn't moved the bed so they could have easy access to it. But they worked around that and installed the windows. It should be noted that the lifetime warranty is only for the original homeowner (not very unusual for a lifetime warranty). We truly appreciate Milgard and will put nothing else in our homes. I selected Milgard based on the price, quality, and style. All the windows in my house were replaced with Milgard on August 4, 2024. After the installation, I noticed blemishes on two of the windows (dimple in one glass, a scratch in the other), and my initial reaction was that Milgard's quality control standards are not so good. I contacted Milgard customer service to schedule the windows repair/ replacement. I sent photos and made it clear that one of the windows is on the 2nd floor. They said the earliest date a technician could come out was September 23, 2024. I expected Milgard to come sooner but I didn't complain. The service day finally arrived on September 23, 2024. The time window for the technician to arrive was 12:45pm to 2:45pm. There was a lot going on inside the house with contractors doing all sorts of work, and I was busy cleaning out the backyard area. I missed the phone calls from the service technician, until finally, I realized I missed the calls and picked up. I went out the front door and I saw his truck parked in front of my house. When I walked up to him, I could tell he was annoyed. He said that he's not sure he could do my job because I did not pick up my phone and now there wasn't enough time. By this time it was maybe 1:15pm. I told him that he was still in the time window of arrival that Milgard provided to me so I didn't understand the problem. He said he didn't care what Milgard told me (the customer). He only cared about his window of time. I asked him why he didn't ring the doorbell, but he said he couldn't find my house, which seemed strange because he was parked right in front of it. After the not-so-pleasant introduction, the technician and I walked towards the house. I pointed out one of the windows-the upstairs window-that needed replacement. He immediately said that he could not replace that window because it would require at least two technicians (he came alone). By this point, I was frustrated. I had bought all brand new windows, two of the windows were defective, I had waited about 2 months to get the windows replaced, Milgard then sent out a rude service technician who doesn't care about the customer, and now he tells me that he's not able to do the job. Out of my frustration, I raised my voice and said some expletives, but I made it clear to him that it was nothing personal towards him, but that I was frustrated about my entire experience with Milgard. Well, the technician took it personally, refused to do the job, and drove away. The name of the Milgard service technician is Manuel. I immediately called Milgard customer service to file a complaint against Manuel and to reschedule service. The customer service representative on the phone was excellent. He listened carefully to my situation, listened to my frustration, made note of my complaint, and was proactive in trying to help me schedule service as soon as possible. He was able to schedule service only one week out on September 30, 2024, and he said he would make sure that I get a different technician. On September 30, 2024, the Milgard service technicians arrived, rang the doorbell, and did an excellent job. I am pleased with the final outcome. However, it does not make up for the multiple points of frustration along the way. read more

Rebuilt house in 2014; very VERY expensive Milgaard Windows all around. Now needing service on 3. CANNOT GET THEM TO RESPOND TO SAVE MY LIFE!!! FInally after 6 months a newly minted service person came out to look. (Stalling tactic IMHO) Sed company will get back to us in 5 days. THAT WAS 6 WEEKS AGO! I just wanted to update my review. So Milgard did come replace the window... 2 years and nine months after I placed the request for service.

Waited 6 weeks for tech appointment only to be called at 7 a.m. on the day of the appt to be told that tech is out today and I'll have to reschedule for two weeks out. This is standard Milgard service. They said they would send me a replacement balancer so I can install myself but why should I? This is covered under my warranty. Customer service is nonexistent, product quality is as bad as it can get. I've had to replace window balancers on all 9 Milgard windows at least three times for each window and each time requires customer to jump thru hoops to get their warrantied service. You may pay more up front for a better window than Milgard but it's worth it because Milgard windows started to fail within a year and their customer service is the worst (snarky and condescending). read more

I bought 3 windows from Milgard Sacramento through Lowe's . All 3 arrived without plastic wrap, edge protectors, etc. The windows were all scraped up as a result. The workmanship of the windows in general was poor at best. Milgards response was to contact Lowe's to resolve any issues. I have Milgard Windows. I would give them a no start but I cannot. I called them and they said the warranty was no good as it was not transferable from who I bought the home from and they type of windows that were installed. All of my windows have a purple discoloration and they all have to be replaced which is going to cost me ten of thousands of dollars at there are about 30 windows that aren't even 10 years old. I regret installing Milgard windows on my new custom build. The customer service is the absolute worst and I dread calling them. I have had 4 windows that have leaked over the years. It takes at least 3-4 months to get anyone out to look at them. The last time they fixed my leaky window, it still leaks water and they said because the technician said it was fixed, the warranty is closed. I have had my wood window sill and wood floors damaged because of water damage when it rains. This is the first review I have ever left on yelp because I am beyond frustrated. read more

We installed these in October of last year, and finally have the glass pane on the sliding door repaired as new. Per my previous review, the first three visits were less than expected, wrong glass, and rude technicians on the visit before last. However, the last visit was very pleasant, with the correct glass panel and savvy technicians, who were not only polite and understanding, but also made sure that all the components of the slider were working properly before they left. Everyone makes mistakes, it is how the mistake is re-mediated that counts. Although it took some time, Milgard has restored my faith and belief in their product and service...thank you! read more

This is a review for window quality, not the installer. I bought a house in Sacramento that has 8 Milgard windows installed by previous owner. EVERY window has dirt and stains between the double panes. And the warranty doesn't transfer to new owner. Don't ever buy Milgard!! Update for Joann at Millard. Milgard does not stand behind their windows. I had a full house of Milgard windows installed and the frame on one of them started cracking. I filed a warranty claim based on the fact that the warranty for the windows said this was clearly covered: "fiberglass frames: 10 years for excessive peeling, checking, cracking, chalking, fading, or color change." After waiting a month for Milgard to respond to the claim, I ended up having to call them. After a couple hours on hold and getting hung up on by the first person that picked up, I finally got to someone. The entire conversation was the company trying to get out of paying for a warranty claim. First they claimed it was shipping damage. After I mentioned it had been installed for quite some time and there hadn't been damage the entire time, they decided to go away and then claim it was still not covered because it was a 'nonmanufacturing defect' and that the person I was speaking to was denying my claim. If their warranty claims cracks in the frame are covered, I'm confused how a crack in the frame of my window couldn't be covered. So, now I guess I have to pay for a new window to get installed. In any case, if you're looking for new windows, I'd avoid Milgard in the future. They clearly don't stand behind their products. read more

We had several milgard windows installed several years ago. The windows themselves are adequate, but we have had a couple of warranty issues, and getting warranty service has been an ongoing struggle. The first call service call was to get a casement window adjusted so that it would shut properly. It took weeks to arrange the call. The first person to arrive claimed he didn't have the parts, told me to call Milgard again. The next person showed up, said he didn't have the right parts. The third call two people showed up, they still didn't have the right parts, and they started work on trying to retrofit a different part into the window. I stopped that, explained to them (again) the problem, and "Oh! We just need to tighten it with the right tool." That took something like five months. Next round, I'd want to replace the bulb seal on the window frames. More calls. They don't sell this product through their installers. A service call can only be submitted on their website. I called to ask about the request I submitted two weeks ago. I was told by the operator that everyone in that department is in a meeting. Could I leave a message? Unfortunately, there's no voice mail that she could transfer me to. Before I could ask about a paper or email message, she said she saw they were coming out of their meeting and forwarded me. A recording informed me I was number 8 in the queue and could expect to hold for 88 minutes. read more

I have Milgard windows that have seals that failed causing the windows to fog up, separate from the sides and produce brown fecal colored streaks inside the panes. 1. Milgard has finally responded after 3 months. 2. Milgard doesn't have a subcontractors willing to do glass replacement work. I have 16 Milgard windows that are out of warranty because these windows are for a fourplex and is considered "commercial". I was willing to pay for the glass and work but Milgard's contractor support list is NFG. Totally worthless support for window problems. read more

Very pleased with my windows after 15 years and great warranty. My problem is with contacting customer service. Extremely long wait time on the phone!! Two callers ahead of me, I was on hold for 55 minutes. I have tries 3 days in a row. Perhaps they only have one person answering calls for my entire local area!!! read more
