If you are a visitor to Chicago and you are including your four-legged family member and have found one of the few "pet -friendly hotels" OR you're a resident who has decided to include your four-legged family member/friend on your outing :::: BE FOREWARNED +++++ DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED Example: If you should stop to speak with someone briefly who may or may not have a dog and a paw touches the precious grass of Millennium Park the "PARK SECURITY NAZIS" will come up to you, interrupt your conversation and state (most times with a hell of a lot of attitude and usually impolitely): "NO DOGS ALLOWED ON THE GRASS" Look as a resident I get that Millennium Park is one of the "crown jewels" of the city that folks want to experience and that it should look great AND that "doggy elimination visits" are bad for the grass --- BUT...... With the conversion of many office buildings to condos just who did the CITY & PARK DISTRICT think the tenants would be? Certainly not FAMILIES! The majority of owners are of two demographics RETIRED SENIORS WITH PETS) OR YOUNG PROFESSIONALS WITH PETS) Now if you happen to live EAST OF MICHIGAN AVENUE it's all good because you can easily access Daley Bicentennial Park, the designated area for dogs WITHOUT coming in contact with the holy and precious grass of Millennium Park.. BUT If you live WEST OF MICHIGAN AVENUE you CANNOT USE THE BRIDGE THAT ENDS INSIDE Daley Bicentennial Park thus the designated area for dogs. NOPE YOU HAVE ONLY TWO CHOICES Either you enter the DALEY BICENNTIAL PARK from the RANDOLPH STREET SIDE OR you enter by the MONROE STREET SIDE. Additionally , when there's an event or parade these streets are so congested that people are hardly able to move --- let alone someone with a dog and good intentions. While residents know and resent this, what a very, very rude awakening for others. Apparently, among the reasons that dogs aren't allowed is because as I have been told by the Security Nazis is that "people like to sit on the grass, but the MAIN REASON is to PROTECT THE PRITZKER PAVILION LAWN because some "crazy" dog seeing grass might ....... well you know .....BUT WOULD BE IMMEDIATELY PICKED UP BY ITS RESPONSIBLE OWNER,,,,,. Besides look at the grass on the Front and Michigan Avenue Entrance to Millennium Park between Monroe & Randolph Streets, during the day there is so much trash (most of which is left by "human park visitors") it's being ruined by the amount of traffic as well as the dogs. I have yet to see anybody refusing to sit on the grass because of a dog. MY SOLUTION PLACE A STURDY BUT TEMPORARY FENCE AROUND THE PRITZKER PAVILION LAWN LET RESIDENTS AND VISITORS ACCESS THE BRIDGE DIRECTLY INTO MILLENNIUM PARK. There, was that so difficult? read more

Millennium park is a great location for anyone who is looking to bask in the view of a soothing green atmosphere during the summer and complete their Chicago experience. It has lots of attractions and activities that I would encourage people to partake in. And entering through Washington Avenue street would give you a glimpse of the huge center piece of the park; the Jay Pritzker Pavillion. At the Pavillion you can catch free yoga sessions and concerts on certain days when they are available, as well as just admiring the stainless steel pipes and sloping plates of the amphitheater. What you should visit first however should be the Millennium Park Monument that is to the left. It is a replica of the original peristyle that pays homage to the the park's founders and has a great fountain that you can sit and relax by. Moving on we make our way to Cloud Gate famously known as "The Bean", its an amazing sculpture where everyone is seen taking selfies, looking at their wacky reflections and making memories. And if you are looking to gaze at a prairie like scenery, head south passing through the Pavillion over to Lurie Garden where you can see skyscrapers hovering over the the trees and flowers, you get a great view all around of the amazing architectural designs the city has to offer. After you've taken in the view of the garden head west to visit the Crown Fountain. It consists of two towers facing each other that plays close up shots of faces moving and occasionally spouting water on visitors. Take your shoes off and dip your feet into its wide wripple filled fountain to cool off. Enjoy and take in everything Millennium Park has to offer, it's what its there for. read more

I wish I give this waste of money, time, and crap no stars. Yelp won't allow me to. I have to give it one to show my disapproval. It's a tourist thing. It's for someone who came here from out of town or even out of state. Most of the people that visit it camouflage into the majority, rich, Anglo-white crowd. They act is if Chicago is the most beautiful city in the world, without much knowledge of what the real Chicago is. I am talking about not being familiar with the entire city, its industrial history, the current wave of crime, and the nasty politics involved with it. Instead of putting more police on the streets, Daley (back in 2000) decided to continue his lack of respect and care for Chicago citizens (natives). This monstrosity was constructed as direct result of that. Downtown got overbuilt, overpriced, and is now crap. The crime rate in much of Chicago has sharply risen while this Disneyland fantasy world has tourists thinking otherwise. I feel sorry for those that like this place. I wish Daley left the site of this travesty as is. This is the clearest example of how nasty modern-day Chicago is. Care about people that are not familiar with the city by giving them fluff instead of caring about its real, truly devoted, hard working, taxpaying citizens. All that should have been here was the ice rink, but Block 37 should have stayed as-is. Another crappy high rise is in its place. Don't get me started on the Bean and all that crap. read more

Someone needs to go to jail for the cash-hole that is Millenium Park. What a crime. Why have one band shell when we can have two at 5 times the price. Honestly folks, somebody has to straight about modern art and that thing looks like the wreckage of an airplane crash. The city whores the park out to big corporations. I went there one afternoon and sat on the lawn. Some official on a Segue told me I couldn't sit there, I got up and his Segue fell over. I felt like telling him "pick it up man, your not allowed to leave your Segue there." Fat-ass cop. The city is in the red. Chicago is in debt. What is the smart thing to do in a situation like that???? Build a one billion dollar park of course! Someone needs to go to jail, I tell ya. Don't give me that shit about beautification. This was a nice park for an urban setting. It was well laid out with art sculptures and green spaces as well. Lots of beautiful flowers were in bloom. This was a really amazing visit for me. I entered from the fountains along Michigan avenue. It was great seeing little kids and some adults getting wet and enjoying the water. Next, I proceeded to the Cloud gate and I've never seen anything better sculpted. It really is a seamless construction that anyone will appreciate. After that, I visited the Pritzker pavilion and park and man, it really is an awesome design. The architect really outdid himself on that one. Visitors should expect something of interest for everyone both young and old. Also there are many sights to see both inside the park and around it. read more

I mean the amount of money we spent on this park it should be amazing right!? I think it is very nice and honestly being a northsider, I don't spend nearly enough time down here. Last night we went to an event under the tent above the Harris theater. I had been to a few events here before and I have to say they need to figure out how to control the temperature in there better. The event last night was amazing but it was so hot under this tent and it was only 70 degrees outside. I was in a dress and dying. Unsightly railroad tracks and parking lots have been transformed into luscious green grass, fine restaurants, and a 10,000 seat amphitheater. Millennium Park is the center for world-class art, music, and architecture, and offers everything from interactive public art to ice-skating in Chicago's snowy winter season. You have nature to view, with the grassy area for families to relax, and the pond and the garden as well. When the weather is nice theirs plenty of entertainment to keep you occupied rather than when it's rainy. In Millennium Park theirs also the "Pedestrian Bridge" which connects the park to Maggie Daley Park, which is a Park for the youth to enjoy themselves. The other advantage of the bridge is its a short cut to the lake front, which is also a place people should visit to relax. read more

Millennium Park is in downtown Chicago. It is free to the public and family friendly. The park is pretty big so wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Visit the monument where the names of the founders who founded the park are engraved in a scenery. It's great to have lunch there and a few restaurants are across the street. Next visit the cloud gate or also known as the bean to take pictures. Laurie garden is the next stop to take pictures of the flowers. A picnic is another option to do at the garden. You also get a great view of the sky line from the garden. There are plenty of activities to do but these are just a few. read more

Haven't been back here since 1999 and it has really changed! The Goodman Theatre used to house a large portion of the space around here and now..it's gone! Loved the ampitheater and the "Serpent Bridge" and the wooded areas with flowing water. The "Bean" was very cool too. A wonderful place to walk around and just enjoy the architecture and views. I hear that the Taste Of Chicago is near or in this area too but I never went to it when I lived in Chi-town. I would like, however, for the security to be a bit more ramped up in this area. Millennium park is really the place to go if visiting Chicago downtown. Its a place where you see so many things. You're surrounded by so many tall skyscrapers. Then you have spots in the park where you see a very large space in the Jay Pritzker Pavilion where they have live events, and sometimes they have free movie night at the park. It also holds 11,000 audience members. You also have the Cloud Gate in which we call "the bean" because cause its a shape of a bean. if you go on a hot summer day you should also go to the Crown fountain where you can take your kids and they can play in the water. read more

Sure, there are great parks spaces elsewhere along the Lakefront and in the City, I love 'em all! But Millennium Park is the crown jewel. This is a landmark place you have to go if you're visiting Chicago. The park is pretty cool as a venue, it has great foot paths just to go around and explore. The bean is awesome because as everyone knows you can see the whole skyline behind you in one reflection. The ice skating park is nice in the winter, and the skate rental price was decent considering you're in the middle of Chicago. I like this place because you don't feel like you're in a tourist trap. Also, you can see the building which was built by the feminist architect. That's always fun. read more
