I like Miller's Ale House. It has a great sports bar environment, decent food - especially for the prices - and excellent service. If you're specifically looking for a sports bar, I recommend this place. As a casual restaurant and bar, it works well too. We had never heard of Miller's Ale House before I found this location on Yelp. I was looking for a sports bar south of Atlanta and this place popped up as the number one search result on Yelp. This Miller's Ale House is located in the Atlanta suburb of McDonough, about 45 minutes south of the city, right off the highway: I-75 exit 218. Miller's Ale House is a Florida-based sports bar chain generally similar to Taco Mac and Buffalo Wild Wings. At the time of writing this review, there are only two locations in metro Atlanta: this one in McDonough and another in Alpharetta. The company is growing so by the time you read this, there may be more in Georgia. This location opened in February 2019. We visited for lunch on New Year's Eve and the restaurant was busy. I called beforehand to make sure they were open and was greeted by a very polite and professional-sounding employee (she sounded like a well-trained corporate customer service/manager type). The restaurant looks great. New construction. Freestanding building with a clean, contemporary, and functional design and layout. There are a couple different dining rooms, one feels more like an indoor bar-patio, with a nice variety of seating options. The best part for sports fans like me: lots and lots of TVs; new TVs with bright, vivid, and crisp picture quality. The staff quickly changed the channels on certain TVs at our request. We specifically requested ESPNU on a few TVs so we could watch the Georgia Tech at Florida State basketball game. The menu was a smorgasbord of American restaurant chain food that reminded me of places like Applebee's, Chili's, and Ruby Tuesday. Prices were very affordable with the most expensive items, an 8-ounce filet mignon or a 12-ounce ribeye, only $19.99 each. The lunch and dinner specials were even cheaper. For example, on Tuesdays, you can get a sirloin steak and side for only $9.99. Some of the prices were getting so low that I started to wonder if I should be concerned about the quality. Lunch specials are available Monday-Friday, 11am-3pm, and start at $5.99. We got a couple of those plus some Zingers: * Crispy "Grilled Cheese" Sandwich ($5.99 lunch special) - Monterey Jack, cheddar, and white American cheeses on sourdough bread, fried in a spicy tempura beer batter; marinara dipping sauce and seasoned fries served on the side * Soup & Salad Duo ($5.99 lunch special) - French onion soup with house salad * House Salad ($4.89 each) - Roma tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, Monterey Jack and cheddar cheeses, croutons, field greens (we got a couple orders of these) * Zingers ($10.79) - "fresh, never frozen" buttermilk-drenched, hand-breaded, boneless chicken tenders in lemon pepper flavor (off-menu) with celery and ranch dressing We were pleasantly surprised by the prices. No way these prices would fly in Atlanta city proper. What a deal. The crispy "grilled cheese" sandwich and French onion soup were both good. I recommend them. The grilled cheese tasted almost exactly as it was described on the menu. It was pretty much like eating a big grilled cheese sandwich with bread coated and deep-fried in tempura batter. What I liked about this sandwich was the batter was light and not too greasy. It wasn't spicy at all, however. The combination of cheeses and crispy sourdough bread made this quite a rich, tasty, and gratifying sandwich. The sandwich was yummy enough on its own and didn't need the marinara dipping sauce, but the marinara certainly helped to enhance the flavors and made the sandwich more Italian-tasting. The "seasoned" fries that came with the sandwich weren't very seasoned. They weren't bad. Just your standard fries. The soup & salad duo was a nice, "light" lunch option. The French onion soup was very flavorful. The house salads were fairly standard too. Fresh ingredients and large portions. I appreciated the large portion sizes because I love salads and veggies and it's often hard to get your fill of greens and veggies when dining out. The Zingers were underwhelming. Six pieces came to an order. I think they were disappointing because I ordered the lemon pepper (dry) flavor which wasn't on the menu. It looked like all the chef did was sprinkle (not even toss) a tiny bit of lemon pepper seasoning on top of some plain tenders. The tenders barely had any flavor. We had to ask for a side of extra seasoning so we could add more ourselves. As far as the tenders themselves, they were fine. Each tender was big, meaty, and moist enough. The breading was OK, not exceptional. Only a measly two small celery sticks came with the tenders. That was it. Our server Meme was fantastic. I have been to Millers Ale House several times. It has little to no ambiance, the food is overpriced and the service is slow. If all you want is chicken wings fries and beer this place is a "3" for you. Last time I was in for lunch on a Thursday, I ordered the Thursday special which is prime rib. Or I should say I tried to order it. I was told "ohhhh the prime rib won't be ready until 2 or later". So Millers Ale House: put a time the Thursday Special is available because you obviously can't deliver your advertised special on a regular basis. Just remember readers, this is THE special of the day and it doesn't say it can't be served for lunch. Bait and switch? Maybe. So instead I ordered a Chicken BLT with mashed potatoes. There was no Bacon on my "BLT" and the mashed potatoes were thin and soupy/runny. Even with salt and pepper the mashed potatoes were tasteless. Perhaps a straw was in order for the mashed potatoes?Once I got my food it took forever to get my drink refilled just once. And when I was done I had to wait another 15 minutes for my waitress to come back to my table. I looked around and she was nowhere to be seen. Best advice: Avoid the mashed potatoes at all costs. Stick to the hamburgers and chicken fingers and you might be ok. Get everything from your waitress you need early on because she might not be back for a while. And my last piece of advice would be find somewhere else to eat. I will not be back. Too many negatives and too many better places to eat. The service sucks and I honestly did not feel welcomed by the bartender, Gianna, in comparison to how she treated other patrons at the bar. The other bartender, who didn't have on a name tag was actually friendlier than the one that was assisting me. Also I was asked for my ID to purchase a drink which I understand is required, I left him new without mine so I couldn't get a drink. Their menu is filled with all sorts of fun foods and my Burger was Monstrous in Size, but the salad was lacking immensely. Given that it was the weekend it was kinda busy and the hostess did inform me that a wait time for a table/booth will be 45 minute wait. There was No wait for seating at the bar. We opted to dine at the bar and was greeted the bartender/server. The food was pretty good I got the Caesar salad as a starter and the entree of Parmesan chicken Alfredo pasta. The pasta was good however just lacking salt. I underhand these type of establishments can not make a pasta dish too salty on account of customers' dietary restrictions. My bf got the smashed queso burger which he absolutely loved and the fries as his side. I tried one of his fries which could have been hotter in my opinion. Come to find out they quit keeping honey in stock which makes it to where I can't eat here anymore. I told them no bun, ordered the side of guacamole ($0.99) and swapped out broccoli for fries. I was unable to finish my food because I was full from the cauliflower but the broccoli was seasoned very well and the patty was as expected. B+ The least liked item was my Strawberry Mule cocktail. So our server took forever. No I'm not just an impatient jerk... it took her 35 minutes to bring me my check and then forgot my to go box. I would've been more understanding if it was really busy but it wasn't busy when we went. Other than that I would've given them a higher rating. The lunch menu is so cheap and the options are fantastic. You reallllly can't beat the price here. The fish and chips were super fresh and crispy. The only down is that the food and service is not consistent!! Some days the food is amazing and the service is great. And some days, the food is such a waste of money, and the servers will bring the food cold or forget items and it's frustrating when you spend your hard earned money and not enjoy the experience. My son's strawberry lemonade was watered down and had to be replaced with a fountain drink. The burger I ordered was a salt bomb along with the fries. I have been to this location several times. I like there chicken wings, Southwestern Chicken Egg Rolls and their Zingers. I get these almost every time I come. My husband loves his salad. It was huge. He also tried a pasta dish and it looked delicious but I did not try it because I wouldn't let him eat my wings. My cousin tried the fajitas, but they came out and we're not sizzling. So that's gonna be a no for me. She said they were aight. I tried a burger that had thin onion rings and some kind of creamy mayo. Hated it! Won't ever get that again. I enjoy the watermelon margaritas but I suggest you get the pitcher. Although it's small as hell, it's cheaper than getting that one small glass. We had a great time! We ordered the chicken nachos and a Mahi-Maji sandwich (we were going to order drinks but they didn't have woodford so we went somewhere else). Our waitresses (Bri and GiGi) we're great! They were very attentive, they communicated with us effectively and answered any questions that we had. They really made our atmosphere a lot more comfortable (reason being that was our first date ). The parking was open and very easy and the customer service at the front desk was great. The only reason this visit didn't get 5 stars is because the Mahi-Mahi was overcooked (not burned but very dry, I'm glad I didn't order that). I must say this is a must visit and I will definitely return!! Thanks Bri and Gi- ***SECOND VISIT*** I'm not going to change the stars because our waitress was nice and the manager that came to speak with us was nice as well BUT if this was my first visit, there is NO way this restaurant would've gotten a 4 anything!
