This was such a bad experience that I have decided to do my own taxes from now on. Called left a message that was returned in a timely manner. I was unable to answer token call as I was at work. I returned the call when I got home. I got no answer so I left a message and my call was returned but I had stepped outside. I called right back but the mail box was full. I called several more times and could not get through. My last call was not returned. Because I could not get through on the phone I left a message thru Yelp which was never returned either. Unfortunately I have to leave one star when I personally feel they don't deserve any. Thank you for your very rude and threatening comment back. I am not a liar nor am I a bully. It's called recapping the truth of the unpleasant experience with your business. Thank you for being so rude though because it just shows your employee made the right choice for me by stopping from using your business. By the way since I'm not able to truthfully tell how my experience was with your business the employee name that did return two of my 6 calls was Karen. Below are two pictures for you. I messaged through yelp and my call was returned in a timely manner as I started before. A voicemail was left which I returned after I got off work to which there was no answer. Again as I stated before I left a message as no one answers the phones. My call was returned again in a timely manner but I had stepped outside. I called back within a few minutes and again no answer and the mail box was full for the rest of my calls. I then messaged the help that I had returned the call but the mailbox was full and I never had a returned call or message. I reached out to Gary Miller over Yelp and was asked to contact Karen who would book an appointment. After playing phone tag with Karen, I was finally able to reach her and was surprised to be in communication with someone who clearly had a disdain for the Job and dealing with customers. While this was an extremely negative first impression of this business, I decided that the service must be THAT good if the person booking the appointments was that unfriendly. So I booked 30 mins with Gary to get a better idea of what he could offer in way of accounting and tax services. This introductory consultation would cost me $120/hr ($60). Again, I thought, wow, he must be that good if he charges for the initial consultation. I thought wrong. Fast forward to the consultation, I spent time asking about services that he provided and asked about how we would handle the setup of a vacation rental business. While it was tough to hear him while he was driving, the conversation was pleasant enough. Nothing stood out as something I couldn't do myself, but that changed when he provided advice that really excited me. He said that since I sold stock, I could move the long term capital gains into the vacation rental property as a qualified 132 rollover / exchange. I never heard of such a thing. Well, as you can imagine, the idea of deferring taxes excited me greatly and I was happy as a clam with the idea that I wouldn't have to pay a HUGE tax bill this year. Following the call, I then spent hours searching the web for information on a qualified 132 rollover without success. Assuming he misspoke (he was driving after all), I decided to text him the next day: Hi Gary, thank you for the time yesterday. You had advised me that there is a qualified 132 rollover possible for moving long term capital gains from the sale of equity to purchase the vacation home / short term rental cabin. I was not able to find that section of the US or California code, so I must have written it down wrong. Maybe you meant a 1031 exchange? But that only applies to real estate from my understanding. Thx. Gary texted right back and said: "I'll pull it and send it over." Nothing. Assuming the email must have been sent to spam or something, I waited a week and decided to text him again. After a few days, I received a text back: "Im pulling it up and will have it to you today." Nothing. At this point, I'm just annoyed and very surprised by the lack of response especially when I paid for this tax advice which is clearly either inaccurate or even false. I was even charged sales tax for this call! Trust is very important to me when dealing with anyone managing my finances. I do not trust Gary Miller to provide sound tax advice. You should not either. The concept of a mobile tax advisor may seem appealing to some, but the lack of responsiveness, outright false information, and flighty nature of the mobile business has left a bad taste in my mouth. *** EDIT *** Edit to my review: In light of the response to my original review, I feel it's necessary to clarify a few points for the benefit of others considering tax advice from this service. Firstly, the main issue at hand was not the consultation fee or the expectation of free advice, but the soundness of the tax advice provided. I rate "miller mobile tax service by gary miller" a zero, as the worst and most terrible experience. I paid gary miller $2,945.12 on march 2024 to file my business taxes for 2 prior years. One was an amendment and the other a regular tax filing. on 3/2024 I met with his wife to sign and she said she forgot my copies but promised that gary would give me a copy of my taxes and nothing. Since then I have asked gary and his assistant karyn mcqueen to give me a copy of my taxes numerous times and all my calls, texts and emails have been ignored. I called IRS several times since march 2024 and they have indicated they "never" received these tax filings although gary promised they were e-filed. this behavior is so unprofessional and unethical. I demand a refund or a copy of my tax filings. (Gary, i just called IRS today 8/25/25 and I was informed once again that you never filed our amended taxes and the regular tax filing), IRS told me to file a Return Preparer Complaint, form 14157 which has been filed.
