Certain things can be expensive for what they are but they are well worth it considering they are hard to get hold of. The staff there are really friendly and would stand there talking to you all day if they could. The shop is very clean and very easy to gain access. You get a very personal service in here, and they are a nice independent retailer. Although a little pricey, the occasional treat is worth it, and you get what you pay for. The have a good variety on display and even have gift presents for your loved ones for you to buy. The shelves aren't too over stocked, but they do have a large variety of sweets, chocolates and candy for you to choose from. Try the fruit centre's - they wont disappoint. Pierre and his wife run the store and they really are so friendly and offer a completely tailored service. Pierre obviously cares about his customers and will give you a guided tour of all the wonderful and artfully created chocolates on display, even letting you sample a few on the house. This is no Thorntons! Each piece is a work of art, from dark chocolate dipped cherries and orange peel to Champagne truffles; everything is beautifully made and packaged making a gift from Chouchoute a real treat. I always come here to buy presents for family and have a chat with Pierre. Everyone should sample some chocolates from this shop - you'll never settle for Roses again, that's for sure! Downstairs is the chocolatier part of the shop with a wide wide range of traditional sweets. The few times I've been to Buxton I've nipped in here to just to drool over the amazing chocolate…read moreselection but never actually got as far as buying anything or staying for more than a few minutes. This time, with minus temperatures outside and snow up to our armpits (almost), it was a necessity to stop and sit somewhere with a hot drink and something indulgent and I'm so pleased we did. It's only a tiny little shop with four or so tables squished in the middle but it was the perfect place for a pit stop and the homemade hot chocolate, made with real chocolate and topped with marshmallows and chocolate flakes was hot, thick, rich and delicious- you even got a little chocolate served on the plate if your blood sugar levels hadn't already rocketed. All the chocolate is made onsite and they have an amazing selection, just a pity I was feeling chocolate-d out when we left to pay - next time I'll buy my choccies to take home beforehand!
