On the way home from work I spied Millie's restaurant. Memories of delicious pies filled my mind and taste buds. Millie's is a typical diner-esque feel. Pot roast, fried chicken, hamburgers, and so on. I decided on a Cobb salad. Just enough of all the goodies with a sliced chicken breast topping it off. The ranch dressing was light and flavorful. I could tell it was homemade. My favorite part of the experience was our server Ana. She was very kind and attentive without being pushy. The Queen of Reseda and I decided to keep the trend of trying some old school restaurants for lunch today. Millie's fit the bill. I don't know about you but my world is running pretty fast right now. Super fast paced with the world coming back to life semi post Covid 19 Pandemic. Need to slow this down a little. Take it easy. Maybe turn off the iPhone 12 mini for a while. Give it a rest. I put this place in the same category as Lulu's restaurant over on Rosco and Balboa. The wife and I agree we like Millie's better. It's just more comfortable. Kinda homey. The sound tract was oldies from the sixty's. Beach Boys, Sam Cooke, Smokey Robinson, you get it. First time here let it be the Cheeseburger and fries. Was it the best damn Cheeseburger I've ever had? No, it was fine. Half pound patty, lettuce tomato, American Cheese. The fries were a little limp. Could have used a few more minutes in the fryer. For $10.99 I'm not complaining. Wife had the Southwest Chicken Salad, $12.99. Grilled chicken, green chilies, bacon, red onion, avocado, mixed cheese, roasted corn, tortilla strips, tomato, scallions, bbq sauce and Sonora ranch dressing. She said it was very good. I never have dessert for lunch. Our very sweet waitress asked if we wanted a slice of pie? We can heat it up with some ice cream on the side.... My inter Eric Cartman said, Yeah I want Pie! Mixed Berry Pie with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream it is! Twist my arm. It was fabulous! So come try this place where the pace is a little slower with a great retro vibe. Came here for dinner and ordered the southern fried chicken that includes 2 sides with 1/2 chicken. The chicken was the size of a Cornish hen. You can not advertise 1/2 chicken when you are not delivering 1/2 Chicken. The ribs are 2 inches long. I have never seen a chicken this small. The waitress asked the manager who said that is why they give extra chicken that still does not make up for the size. Before ordering I asked to make sure it was as advertised and I was reassured it was and if it was not I would be given more chicken to make up. Apparently that was also false. This is disappointing do not waste your money on this. You will be dissatisfied. Go somewhere else. read more

Firstly the service was ok. They did what they were supposed to do. The waitress helped my girlfriend pick an item she wanted from their many breakfast options. This is a traditional diner place. Nothing fancy just forward. The staff seemed nice to the customers around me. Now the food :/ Honestly was the first time I haven't finished a meal in a while. My girl friend said and I confirmed her food was cold upon arrival. The sausage and eggs didn't even seem like they were sitting under a heat lamp. I had a different type of order. I like getting breakfast items I don't normally make at home. Fried chicken Benedict ? Why not. My item wasn't particularly hot. Nor was it tasty. It was an odd combination to say the least. The fried chicken wasn't seasoned nor was anything on my plate. Thinking the hollandaise sauce would make up for it was lack luster in my opinion. I don't think ill be back. I've been coming here for over 30 years since I was a kid. It use to get really packed and food was GREAT! Past few years it's a hit or miss situation. Sometimes the food is good other times it's not. monte cristo sandwich is always on the soggy side not crisp like it should be. The fries always seem to taste like they've been under a heat light for hours. The Salads are still delicious. The menu items have changed over the years and a lot of the choices are not the traditional meals they use to have. The new items sound strange to me and I do not care to try but someone else may enjoy those choices. The pies are nothing special & in my opinion a little over priced. read more

Nice little diner with a hometown feel. I had the chilaquiles per the waitresses recommendation. It came with an over easy egg and mashed black beans which I really enjoyed. I wish the chilaquiles were crispier because they got soggy pretty quick so it was a race to enjoy them before they disintegrated. Went on Saturday for lunch. I had the chicken pot pie with the tortilla soup instead of the salad. They were both absolutely delicious! And the service was fantastic! So good in fact we went back the next day for lunch again and to try something different. We have been to Millie's many times before and I know we will likely be there many more times. I haven't been to Millie's in a year or two. Throughout quarantine I had thought about going, considering that it's a small cute little place that deserves to be visited. The last time I went I remember trying the carne asada fries and I think (if I remember correctly) the chicken pot pie. I don't think they have the chicken pot pie anymore, but I'm not completely sure on that either. Anyways, I decided to try a few new things and I'm happy to say it was a good 3 out of 4 for what I ordered. The crispy potato dippers are absolutely delicious. They had just the right amount of cheese on them and they give a side of ranch for you to dip them in (and I'm honestly a sucker for condiments, so it was a win-win). The salad with salmon was pretty good, not my favorite but of course it was definitely what you'd expect. I really liked the croutons on it too, they didn't look like they were just bought in a store. The burger patty was outstanding !! I have genuinely never tasted a beef patty that had some flavor to it the way this one did. I really wish the burger itself had more sauce to spread on the bun because it really did need that extra sauce. The fries were also really tasty. I definitely don't recommend the mac and cheese. Frankly, it was quite horrendous. I don't think I've ever been so disappointed and I really never would have thought that someone could ruin mac and cheese like this. However, you do get a little bit of flavor from it if you eat some of the pasta with the (cheddar?) cheese they sprinkle on top. Amazing service! Our server Isabel was an absolute delight from the moment we walked in and attentive the entire time. I visited with my two kids and she made their experience great as well. I had the veggie wrap, it was loaded with tasty vegetables and vegan cheese. The salsa was homemade and not bad at all. Onion rings were very crispy and breaded, not battered. One kid had pancakes, bacon and eggs. Huge portion and had a big whip cream smiley face, he ate it all. Millies there's a place that you want to bring your family too. The waitress as well I know your name, the pies or homemade fresh and ridiculously good. But one thing about Millie's is the menu. You could get everything from pot pie, spaghetti, to taco salad, to even vegetarian options LOL but the chicken tortilla soup is extremely awesome and I recommend trying it... I've only been a sucker for the chicken noodle restaurant is huge but it's like Denny's on steroids when it comes to friendliness. I'm known to be a fan of places like Millie's--old school, no BS, and quiet restaurants with simple but tasty diner-like fare. After running errands, I treated my parents to a late lunch here. FOOD: Corned Beef Hash with Eggs: Just okay. My mom said it's an ordinary plate of corned beef hash, home fries, and eggs. However, she enjoyed the fresh and delicious blueberry muffin (served with better) that it came with. Millie's Meatloaf: Good, and one of the better plates of meatloaf my dad has had. The two thick cut slices of meat loaf were moist and tender, flavorful, and not too salty even with the thick brown gravy ladled over them; it was served with mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables. My dad also enjoyed his side soup, Millie's delicious Cream of Chicken with Wild Rice offered only on Saturdays and Sundays. Fisherman's Basket: Good! This seafood combo comes with two pieces of fried battered whitefish and fried breaded shrimp with fries and cole slaw; tartar, cocktail sauce, and malt vinegar was served on the side. The whitefish was fried well, and although it wasn't seasoned, it was tasty with the tartar sauce and malt vinegar. The breaded shrimp was typical but also fried well. Millie's could do a better job of advertising their baked goods, which weren't even mentioned while I was here. However, we liked the food and would not mind stopping by again. read more
