We were so excited to go on our first Ghan train trip -- which departed Adelaide from the Parklands…read moreterminal at noon that day. First the check in was pretty painless. We drove up to the front behind one other car and the staff helped With our bags. Then went into the terminal and went to the Gold line. Only one person in front of us checking in. Checkin was done within 8 min or so. The folks had the terminal all fixed up with mimosas, coffee and tea, cookies a few sweets and live music. There was plenty of seating for waiting passengers and a small gift shop with Ghan items such as tea towels, t shirts, wallets, magnets and more. The train pulled up about 30 min before we got on. The steward assigned to our car greeted us and helped us put our carry on luggage in our sleeper car. I love that they had the welcome aboard mural so u can take a picture with the train before you get on. It has some beautiful colors in it. All-in-all it was a well designed and comfortable terminal to wait to board the train. Good job!

This is another one of those places that I am going to write a substantial amount about absolutely…read morenothing, namely because that is really all that happens to be here. Though, maybe I'm being a little overdramatic because this station does happen to have a shelter, but this shelter really isn't all that big. Actually, it is rather small, so if it happens to start raining while you are standing on a platform, maybe you should remember to bring your umbrella next time.

This station has certainly had a complete facelift, though that probably has something to do with…read morethe electric railway line going in, as well as the underpass. I've been here numerous times, particularly since it happens to be really close to the Royal Show, at least when it happens to be on. Still, even with all of the upgrades, this station still lacks facilities.

There is only one platform here, but that is because there is only one railway line here. The other…read morerailway line, which is a narrower gauge, is actually the interstate line. They had basically ripped up the original line so that the interstate trains didn't need to change gauge. That doesn't matter though because, well, it happens to be Adelaide, and the trains don't run all that often, moreso on this particular line. Hey, at least there is a railway line here, and a railway station, so I guess that counts for something.

The one thing I noticed about this railway station is that the shelter hasn't been upgraded, not…read morelike many of the other ones in Adelaide. I guess that has something to do with it being made of brick. Then that probably means that it serves its purpose, not that the other ones didn't serve their purpose as well, it is just that they happened to be graffiti magnets. Anyway, this station, well, it does bring back some memories, namely because I remember having to get off the train here every morning just to get to work.
