Made it in before the dinner menu started, so the meal centered around a couple of dumpling orders and they didn't disappoint. The atmosphere is stylish without feeling pretentious, the music fits the space, and the service was outstanding. The server knew the menu inside and out and made choosing easy. The Shrimp & Fennel dumplings were light and fresh with a subtle fennel flavor, while the Chicken & Green Chili dumplings brought a little Serrano heat without overpowering the chicken. Decided to try Minari for my birthday this year. All in all, we were very impressed. The service is top-notch, as is the ambiance (both some of the best in the Twin Cities). The food is mostly good, although there is something missing still that could make this restaurant truly one of the best in the state. Still, it's a great night out, especially if you like Korean and/or Chinese food. Here's a rundown: The food: First and foremost, Minari has special menus to meet many dietary restrictions. Not just symbols on one menu, but different menus depending on your restrictions. That's amazing. We ordered off of the Dairy Free (DF) menu, which does include a lot of their dishes from the regular menu. The Szechuan Ribs were my favorite, they are exquisite. The KFC wings are good too, although they could have used a bit more sauce (I am used to Korean-style wings being pretty saucy). The pork jowl was good but did not have quite enough gojuchang flavor. The accompaniments that came with it were awesome, especially the sauces. The bonchon need some work; I would love to see more traditional bonchon, ours had a couple "fusion" type dishes that were a little too contemporary for us. The drinks: The Minari Old Fashioned was AWESOME, a great drink (and the rice cracker was great too). Highly recommend this. The service was some of the best in the metro. From entering (where the host stand will make sure you have appropriate menu(s)), to the server, who was perfectly attentive and very knowledgeable about every dish, including dietary issues, to the complimentary tea and birthday sparkling wine, I can't say enough about the service here. The only weird thing is the dim sum, I would actually just put the dim sum dishes on the menu and bring them out on demand. The ambiance was really nice, and the bathrooms were clean. The final thing I would say is that I think that Minari could benefit from making their Korean dishes a little bit more traditional...as I mentioned earlier, small touches like making the wings a bit "saucier," more gojuchang flavor on the dishes that feature it, and more traditional bonchon would all be great. Food: The boneless chicken bites were a hit. It looks/tastes like an in-house chicken ground tempura, served with a sweet & sour sauce. Sooo good! We also split a happy hour burger and each had a hand roll - they serve it fancy with a plastic sheet above the seaweed to avoid sogginess (didn't catch a pic of this but presentation was very nice!) The showstopper was the local vanilla ice cream with sesame oil (a nice twist on the olive oil on ice cream trend) and Maldon sea salt flakes. Truly such a simple yet exquisite dessert. We had a great experience at Minari. We went with my dad for an early dinner. It was still daytime so lighting was good. Our server was wonderful. Very willing to explain everything and make recommendations. The food and drinks were wonderful. It is handicapped accessible. Had a reservation and waited 35+ minutes to sit and then they tried to seat us in the pikok lounge when the reservation was for minari. When I asked to be seated in minari the hostess asked "why we cared so much" and seemed very annoyed with us. (Again we made sure our reservations were specifically for Minari, and the lounge was extremely loud which we did not want) Very off putting start to the night and I think this made it hard to really enjoy ourselves for the duration of our time there. I think first impressions really make or break the experience and unfortunately this was not a good one. Our server was great and very helpful though which was a good change! Would get the KFC wings again those were super flavorful and crispy but probably would try all new dishes next time. The dishes were all decent but I expected them to have more flavor packed in them. I was pretty disappointed with the food, but the ambience and service is quite good. We had a very friendly server but the drink service was just a tad slow as I could see the bar directly and saw lots of drinks sitting for quite a while. The kpop drink was good, easy to drink and sweet. The only food item I really enjoyed was the jjajang toast. The bread was crispy and the sauce was delicious. I also enjoyed the beef tartare, however it was not like beef tartare at all. Instead, it resembled yukhoe which I'm sure it was made to pay homage to. I just figure it'd make more sense to name it yukhoe if that's what it's going to taste like since beef tartare isn't super saucy beef. The kfc wings were very heavily breaded and very light on the sauce. I expect Korean fried chicken to be covered in sauce but that was not the case. The dumplings were alright but it makes more sense to go to an actual dim sum restaurant as the squid ink wrapping didn't make much of an impact on the flavor of the dish. I got the scallop hand roll, not pictured, and it was tasty but I was a bit off put with the plastic between the main ingredients and the nori. The only reason to do that is to persevere freshness and keep the nori from getting soggy when the roll has been premade. If you're not able to make a fresh hand roll, I'd say just don't have them on your menu. Our dumplings tasted like they'd been out for a bit while the table next to us got visibly steaming dumplings. The dessert was also disappointing. The butter mochi was cold and grainy. Butter mochi is best served warm so I was very disappointed with the texture and quality of it. Minari is such a vibe! The elegance and deep sultry red in the Pikok Lounge felt high end ans cozy. From the real scented candles to the gold peacock and oversized black planter with Pothos plants to the red velvet long booth seating everything felt right. We shared the Sweet Soy Korean Chicken Wings, Bluefish Tuna, Grilled Rice Cakes, and kimchi as a complementary accoutrement. For my drink, I had Chosun, which was very refreshing and citrus. Wow!! I ended up here after on a whim after a near by restaurant we had reservations at was unexpectedly closed. Since Minari is a popular spot, I was surprised to be seated immediately as a walk in group -- Our spontaneous night was made even better by the food, atmosphere, and service here! If you are visiting with a group open to sharing, I would recommend ordering a variety of options as a table and taking advantage of their dim sum menu. We started the night with a PAZU N/A Cocktail, which was light warm and packed a punch of flavor. The KFC Wings easily hit the #1 wing spot after the first bite and we considered getting another order. We ordered 4 drinks total, the high ball #3 (which was my fave!), the bonzi buddy, KPop, and the more you know. For food we ordered the pork ribs, shrimp toast sandwich, the grilled rice cakes and a caviar nugget. The shrimp toast was so good! It's much bigger than we were expecting but in the best way possible! The toast was so crispy but the shrimp inside was still very juicy! The caviar nugget was my next favorite. It was my first time having caviar and I felt super fancy :) the ribs were big and meaty! The sauce on them was delicious. I believe it was a gochujung based sauce. The space was very cute! I've now visited Minari three times in the last two months and can confidently comment on their consistency and service. The first two occasions were for dinner in the more formal dining area while the last was for drinks in the Pikok Lounge. Both spots are lively with smooth decor, dim lighting and a cozy but elegant feel. The dishes are excellent to share, with my favorite being their large pasta portions and a few of their small bites. They also have an excellent cocktail selection. The service is attentive and pleasant and there is a reason I've been back with such frequency. Small plates: - Fatty tuna: did not expect to like and loved, raw tuna is piled high on rice with little nori sheets as vehicles for consumption, flavorful and light. - Cream cheese wontons: first time around they changed by life, second time around I wondered why I loved them so much. A light dough stuffed with hot cream cheese and doused with a bed of pecorino. The plum sauce is special, but inconsistent. - Stuffed corn cakes: wow, two thick slabs of fried corn cakes stuffed with two cheeses and scallions, delectable and flavorful! - KFC wings: HUGE wings with an excellent crisp but lack of flavor, you can find better wings elsewhere (see Starling!) - Squid ink dumplings: need to eat them hot but quite good, pork and squid and shrimp are encased in a black noodle shell with a tasty sauce pooled at the bottom. - ?? Green beans: I am so sad if they have already removed these from the menu, amazing cream based sauce and nut topping I think? Pastas: - Crab Ramyeon: longer noodles in a chili butter and prawn bisque sauce - lacked crab meat but had great flavor. - Buldak Gnocci: my favorite dish, hot little gnocchi with a perfect crust are coated in a dreamy sauce with tons of shredded chicken and mozzarella cheese, huge portion and easily shared between three people. Meat: - Pork Belly: sliced off the bone with the remaining meat attached to a long bone, this was a solid bite. Would probably not order again as I think the other dishes offer more variety. Overall, there are many special small plates and the pasta portions are plentiful enough to share. You can try a bit of everything in an environment that welcomes you to stay for a cocktail or two. The Pikok lounge is just the bar side of the restaurant with its own separate menu and drinks. Similar vibes with cheaper more accessible plates. read more

Went to Minari in Minneapolis for dinner last night and had such a great time. When we walked in, I was surprised by how big and how absolutely beautiful the space was. The deep burgundy walls made it feel so warm and cozy, especially on a cold fall day. The large windows were gorgeous, and I loved being able to see into the kitchen. We were there for about two and a half hours and really enjoyed the entire dining experience. For drinks, we started with a round of cocktails. I had the Mekarushi, which was earthy and exactly what I was in the mood for. Then we split a bottle of wine and just took our time with dinner. We tried the squid ink dumplings and a vegetable dish from the dim sum cart to start, and both were really good. From the menu, we started with the Spicy Salmon Tartare. The spice was perfect, and the rice crackers gave it a great crunch. I was surprised by how many vegetables were in the dish. It wasn't bad, just different from what I expected. For mains, we shared the Crab Ramyeon and the Gwangyang Style Bulgogi, and both were incredible. The Bulgogi came with an array or sauces, but honestly it was so perfectly marinated that none of them were necessary. The portions were just enough to feel full but not stuffed. We skipped dessert this time but are already planning to go back. Stopped in for the opening of the new Pikok Lounge that is attached to Minari. They have an options from Minari and also have a new menu for the space. They have a great happy hour with $10 burgers, $14 wings, and $2 off cocktails. For cocktails, we tried cocktails from their new menu and really enjoyed all of them. Of the cocktails, the everflowing cocktail was my favorite. A very unique riff on a Negroni with buckwheat shochu. For the food, we got the wings, burger, and kimichi cheese dumplings, which were all great. Burger was a little messy but one of the best happy hour burgers I've had! Wings were crispy and flavorful! Came to Minneapolis for a short weekend and discovered this gem since it was close to downtown. We got the bbq chicken plate, the gochujang vodka pasta, and some dumplings. The dumplings were huge and a great starter. The vodka pasta was sweet and spicy and had the right amount of chewiness. The chicken was a standout and I recommend that everyone try something off the bbq menu. The charcoal grill taste on the chicken was perfect and refreshing. I was impressed by the homemade ssamjang! I went to minari back in August and I forgot to post my review, better late than never! Great ambiance, it was perfect to sit outside and stellar service from our waiter with the great Flo, his hair def had one up on Uncle Jesse... Pretty much everything Uncle Jesse recommended we tried, and we were not disappointed! Bluefin Gimbap - this is a dish I will be back for. Tuna was so fresh and there was a hint of sesame oil which I love. Crispy Rice Panzanella - what a mouth full of flavor! This was by far a table fave. Instead of crusty bread they used crispy rice. The tomatoes were beautiful. I may ask for it lightly dressed next time. Burrata - another table fave! The bread that accompanied it was a nice compliment. The stone fruit was not over powering. KFC Wings - Another table fave. They were so crispy. It's like they double fry it or something! Dan Dan Malfadini - we were excited for this one. Thought it was a little tahini heavy. I brought leftovers home and added a little chicken broth and more bok choy and it was delish. Gnocchi - another table fave. They only problem...we were so full! There was a hefty amount of cheese and shredded chicken in it. Not too spicy. Rice Cakes - By far one of the top three dishes of the nights. See my pic for what it looks like. The rice cakes are cylinder in shape and kind of chewy. All the flavors really marry well together. The shishito peppers are whole and not spicy. Very easy to pick out. Pork Jowl - No one at our table had this before so we gave it a go. The flavor was good, however we all struggled a bit with the texture. It was presented nicely and our Uncle Jesse waiter said it was a popular dish! Mapo Tofu - alright, the only downer of the night. I think it was the calamari that made it taste off, my friend thinks it was the shrimp. Overall, I'd pass on this dish unless your a diehard mapo tofu fan, Uncle Jesse described the tofu as slippery which was pretty accurate. The night was made because our server gave such thorough reviews and was so enthusiastic about the restaurant. It really does make a difference. Started off with the uni toast 10/10- egg salad was creamy, buttery and paired perfectly with caviar best dish we had that night. We got the long beans (4.5/5), Dan Dan Mafaldini (4/5), and Mapo Tofu (4/5) with rice. We liked the long beans the most and would definitely get them again! The Dan Dan Mafaldini was good and had a nice peanut butter sauce; the noodles were a lot longer than what we were expecting and like pasta noodles. The Mapo Tofu was also good and had a bit of a kick to it, but the spice complimented the flavors and did not overpower them. Other members of our group tried different items, and the consensus was everything was good, but the appetizers were the best part. The service was great (4.5/5)! Our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu, and someone would explain the dish when they brought it out for the entrees. We had so much fun here! My parents, me, and my boyfriend were in town for a wedding and my parents wanted to take us out to eat. I was stressing trying to find a reasonably priced but still nice restaurant that everyone would enjoy. And this was PERFECT. The fusion concepts were so creative and everything was fun and felt like an exploration. Most of what we had here was incredible! Favorites were the jelly noodles and pork belly. Making a reservation is easy if you book a week or more in advance (if it's a weekend). The mezcal cocktail was 15/10, I really really enjoyed that! The service was ok, we were early for our reservation and waited for a long while and watched other people continue to be sat for their meal in the dining room. I've heard a lot of buzz about this new spot, and booked a reservation for my partner's birthday brunch to try it out!! Street parking available in the vicinity of the restaurant. A beautiful, warm interior welcomes you as you walk into this modern Asian spot. We were seated right away in a cozy booth that allowed us to look out into the hustle and bustle of dim sum carts and fellow diners! The service was lovely as you choose between delectable snacks and entrees from the menu, as well as cold and warm options from the dim sum carts. INCREDIBLE!!! My new favorite restaurant in Minneapolis by far. We had the Caesar salad, dumplings, steak, pasta, rice balls and oysters. Everything was incredibly well flavored, steak was cooked perfectly, and all the adornments and plating was extremely well thought out. Love the atmosphere of the restaurant and that it feels like you are in an alternate universe in Hong Kong or something with the way they come around and offer dim sum dishes!! Minari was AMAZING. The food, service and ambiance were all top notch. Here are our food and drink highlights: BLUEFIN TUNA GIMBAP - it's like a sushi roll that's tasty and decently sized PORK JAJANGMYEON - the pork, noodles and dish had great flavors BONELESS GALBI - worth the splurge! The BBQ flavor and texture was amazing. I could have eaten most of it myself! EGGPLANT DUMPLING - super innovative and delicious. The eggplant was spicy. The dishes are perfect for sharing so you can try many items. This is authentic Asian food with new age and innovative flavors. The service was amazing. Our server Trek was very knowledgeable about the big menu and also gave good drink recommendations. I really liked the aka kid Red rice Sake that he recommended. It went well with the steak entree. The ambiance was neat and chic. It's a pretty large space and I recommend making reservations in advance since it's popular. This is one of our top favorite restaurants in MN now! read more

Had a fantastic experience at Minari. We sat in lounge which has great vibes. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share and not one was a miss, all were so good! Service was quick and our server had great suggestions for us. The dishes we tried included: chicken nuggets, cream cheese wontons, fatty tuna, stuffed corn cakes, Dan Dan mafaldini, and kimchi burger. Looking forward to going back! read more
