They do have a reasonable range of products on offer, however I find the shop a bit cutesy for me, it is just my opinion but all the figurines of angels and fairies does tend to suck out some of the legitimacy from the philosophies they are promoting and promote more of a fairy tale type reaction. I think Aromatherapy has its value on some levels and their wide range of oils, are priced reasonably. I am not so convinced by the powers of crystals (however I am a sceptic and no expert), but they do have some very nice crystal sets also reasonably priced which would make great gifts as you can get sets of crystal Buddhas, birds, butterflies and angels. It was a nice day, market was happening and the weather was phenomenal for what was supposed to be summer's end. I don't generally have a problem with not being greeted upon entering shops bc that is, in my mind, a highly subjective praxis that I don't want to be included in- but in conjunction with being stared down for nearly my who l e shopping experience, it's just not acceptable. I know there aren't many like me in that area but there's never an excuse for profiling. The stuff here is cool and it sounds like the staff really knows their stuff- except for when it comes to not unnecessarily profiling their guests. There are plenty of other places like this in Sydney, fortunately enough, so I guess I'll just go elsewhere the next time I'm in the market for such a thing.

Alright I wasn't *really* looking for a human thigh-bone trumpet. But they really have one. And a 120 year old ceremonial Mogul helmet from Rajistan. I was actually in Kashgar perving on the jewellery when these and other unusual delights caught my eye. I don't think there is an emporium quite like this one anywhere else in Sydney. As well as the usual Nag Champa, Indian jewellery and mirrored cushions, Kashgar searches the world for unique and rare antiques, and has the most beautiful selection of rings I've ever seen in one of these types of Eastern emporiums. And it smells really nice.

They have a sturdy wooden bed with some very eastern-looking bedspreads and pillow covers, they have bronze statues of Indian goddesses, they have various antiques from who-even-knows-where! Of course, there are practical benefits too. I saw a rack of kaftans, and who doesn't want a good kaftan? There were even fez's! Fez's! I've never even seen a fez in real life! They have some of the most magnificent jewelry, as well as the cutest dreamcatchers I've come across in a long while. The old gentleman at the counter is unobtrusive, so keep an eye out, or he'll sneak up on ya.

(In)conveniently located next door to Ariel Bookstore and across the road from Palace Verona, this dangerously well-stocked shop is filled to the brim with gorgeous gems and "must-have" accessories (the inverted commas represent the process of justification that I go through every time I visit) that make for great gifts...and even better treats for yourself! So far I've been able to limit myself to the odd pair of earrings - and I've even managed to actually gift the presents I've bought (sometimes that's easier said than done). Suffice it to say, The Family Jewels is well worth a visit - but you've been warned!
