Ok. My sister wanted me to compare 2 Chinese restaurants nearby to her new house. 2 chinese restaurants off watt between whitney,(ming) and alta arden near taco bell. Ming had great service for me and my family. The other was no good. Ming restaurant looked like a chinese restaurant welcome to sit down. The alta arden and watt looked like an old burger joint stripped down and converted. Ming's food was a higher quality. The other place alta arden and watt. The food was glazed looking. Like a thin looking slime. It looked like the fake food in windows... The taste: the rice and Chow mein was tastier at alta arden and watt. HOWEVER, the quality was apparent at Ming. Food: we had several other items at alta arden and watt. Walnut shrimp. Egg rolls. Chicken and broccoli. Sweet and sour pork. And Gen chicken I beleive. I liked the extra fried sweet and sour pork. We requested extra crispy because the sweet and sour chicken came out NOT crispy at all just soft. ALL THE OTHER FOOD I TRIED BUT IT WAS NOT GOOD. Comparatively. Ming Palace was great all around. Came in a rainy sunday and got two combination combos. One was orange chicken and the other Mongolian chicken. The chow mein was real good, had flavor and the doodles were thick enough to fill you up. The bbq pork fried was good but dry. My Mongolian chicken was real good, the onions and sauce were great. Great food! Stopped in because I've been looking for a good Chinese food spot while visiting in Sacramento. The restaurant was clean and service was pretty good. This place may be hard to find but the food could be adjusted to taste. I orderee the Mongolian beef and I should of asked for the milder version. We ordered thru Door Dash for my boyfriend's birthday and have never gotten food from them before and he wanted Chinese food, plus the reviews on the app were good so we decided to give them a try. Well that was a mistake. The food did arrive quickly but what we ordered (the beef chow fun and chicken chow mein), was just mush. A Chinese meal done right. Crisp cashews, juicy chicken, stuffed with all the essentials (sauce, chopped celery, chow mein, and stuff). There's about a million options available between the menu board and wall full of spirits, so it can get a little overwhelming, but you really can't go wrong. Went to Ming Palace for lunch last week. This restaurant was not busy and was very clean. We each ordered of the lunch special. I had the Cashew Chicken and my Daughter ordered the Mongolian Beef. The meal came with our soup of choice, either Chow Mein or Rice and the Entree. My daughter had the Hot and Sour Soup which she enjoyed. I had the Egg Flower Soup which lacked any flavor at all. My Cashew Chicken was Excellent! Lots of Chicken and every bit of the chicken was edible, no fat present! My daughter enjoyed the Mongolian Beef and said it was "ok" but that next time she is ordering the Cashew Chicken, (she tried mine and really liked it). I wish a Spring Roll would have been included but I suppose I can order them extra on our next visit. We will be back again!! I highly recommend giving Ming Palace a try! read more

We had a friend bring this to us right after we had a baby, we had about 6 different dishes and liked them all! We tried it again and recommended it to family staying at our house and every time we have enjoyed what we've had. Our favorites are walnut prawns, orange chicken, garlic vegetables, fried rice, and chow mein. Before we would avoid Chinese because there aren't great options in Sac. Recently ordered Ming Palace with GrubHub and overall the food was just ok. Best items were the appetizers-- egg rolls and the cream cheese won tons-- although the egg rolls and won tons portion-sized wise were small. I only ordered one main course along with some fried rice. Maybe I just ordered a boring main course option but the Broccoli Chicken was literally only broccoli, chicken, and sauce. The only vegetable in the Chicken Fried Rice was green onion/chives (no peas, no carrots) with very little egg in the dish. While the portion sizes for the rice and Broccoli Chicken were large, I didn't really have much of an appetite to eat the leftovers the next day, and I do not plan to order from Ming Palace again. read more

Not bad at all. After a search engine mislead us on our first choice to eat (it was closed, should have looked it up on Yelp) we decided to come in here instead (And it was open!) Coming in, there is standard restaurant style seating and family style seating for larger groups (round tables). For those who are just by themselves or with a friend they have a nicely designed bar area that's well kept up (You will immediately see this when you walk in) The menu is full of your standard chinese food choices and comes in meal combos or you could order Ala Carte which is what I did with the pork fried rice and sweet and sour chicken because I did not care for the other things. You can see my husbands plate there too. Food tasted good and came out promptly. The whole thing came out to about $46 after taxes and tips so it was a good deal overall. Got so full though and had to leave some behind (No paper plates or forks or spoons in the hotel, boohoo) It's very easy access from the Holiday Inn Express if you go down Auburn Blvd then turn onto Watt Ave past Edison. (P.S They do delivery from what I saw so that's a plus if you can't make it out, I asked them if they deliver to hotels and they said yes. ) read more

We've been eating here for many years, seen it go through numerous ownerships and changes, but every time we come we leave satisfied. This hole in the wall Chinese spot is mellow, clean, and cozy. Booth seating along the wall, 2 large round tables in the back for large groups, and a small bar in front. Liquor, wine, and beer (Chinese and American). We particularly love the Fried Calamari (comes with onion and jalapeños) and Wor Wonton soup. Split between 2 people it's the perfect amount for us. The good: 3 full size items plus some sides cost about $26. The service was quick, and the fried rice itself was flavorful. The spring rolls were also good - very flavorful and well cooked - and the portions were great for the price. The bad: the chicken they put in the fried rice was completely bland - no seasonings at all. The potstickers were similarly flavorless and the orange chicken was very soggy with no crunch at all. Honestly, Panda Express makes more flavorful orange chicken. The meh: The cashew chicken was passable. It had some flavor and the vegetables were tender-crisp. It definitely had enough chicken but the sauce tasted more like soy sauce than anything else. Overall, the prices are good but the food is really mediocre. I guess if you don't care what your food tastes like and you just want a crap ton of cheap Chinese food you'd be pretty pleased. Those of us with tastebuds will be less convinced. read more

The guy was very rude I had my son who had to use the restroom and they said "NO" regardless of me ordering something. I do not recommend the food here. It is very Americanized, everything is breaded and fried even dishes that traditionally are not. It all tastes like orange chicken. If this is what you like however than by all means enjoy. The rice as other yelpers has said have no other veggies, no smoky wok flavor. Just meat. They most likely make large batches beforehand and sit it in the steamer in the line. Along with other breaded chicken dishes that get soggy.
