A paved walkway lets you walk around and enjoy a variety of sculptures, a little neighborhood of small fairy-type houses, repurposed/upcycled pieces, and more. It was very neat to see the wide variety of art represented here. There are benches and seating set throughout, and it looks like a big project is happening near one of the main entrances. I am quite curious to see how this park evolves and what new pieces get added!

It is a city park in a fenced area with grassy areas and basketball hoops. But, even better, there is art everywhere. There are paintings hung around the fencing, a tiny village of houses with little doors to peek inside, art pieces of many mediums, and even cozy coops covered in jewels for the preschoolers to enjoy while visiting. However the local self-appointed guard is really creepy! When you enter, a man walking his black and white dog suddenly appears. It is a huge quiet park, but when you turn around, there's this guy standing one foot behind you apparently needing to pass by you. I guess he hasn't heard about social distancing.

The drive to Delaware State Park is just under an hour from where we live in Columbus. This makes…read moreDSP a great spot if we want to go camping but want to spend more time at the state park than we do driving to get there. In addition to the full length Disc golf course that DSP has there is also a practice course. The practice course is adjacent to the campground office, to the right of the dog park area. The campground store, while small, seems well stocked with the standard things you might forget. Check out the shirts! Each Ohio State Parks has different t-shirts and Delaware SP seems to update theirs with relative frequency. We've camped a handful of times at DSP, usually in the same loop. Seems like a fair amount of the sites have low areas, it's a good idea to check out loops before booking a campsite with that in mind. Camping with an RV? The dump & fresh water fill has two lanes. There can still be a backup at times of folks waiting to dump or fill but the line moves relatively quickly. Bonus: there's a Kroger not too far from DSP.

Though the maps and such refer to this park specifically as it pertains to the splash pad, there is…read moreso much more here than that. That was fortunate for us, since we visited during the off-season for the splash pad (which looks fun, it's just turned off right now!) There is a huge playset area: traditional, baby, and adaptive swings, a cool slide that comes out of a fossil dino jaw, a variety of slides and climbing options, tunnels, games like 3 in a row, and a boat that you can get to rock back and forth. There is a very nice set up of shelters, restrooms, picnic tables, and benches. If you cross over to the wooded section, you can reach a nature trail in the Wooded Wetland Preserve that surrounds the pond. There are boardwalks, observation decks, and a swing to enjoy the lovely view. This is a wonderful park, even when the splash pad isn't operating!

As adults we need to keep things simple and taking your kids to this park and playing gives you that reminder.

Hickory Woods Park, part of the Preservation Parks of Delaware County, is newly opened in November…read more2021 with its first phase! There are several short trails available now, with a loop through the woods, a smaller loop through the meadow, and a short gravel loop near the parking lot that takes you by the sledding hill and fishing pond, and it connects back to the other two loops. There is a gravel parking lot with a nearby port-a-potty available. Several picnic tables are also available in this area. It sounds like there are future plans to add some more amenities, which will be a nice addition. It's great that they were able to preserve this section of land, which is located between an existing neighborhood and a second neighborhood that is currently under construction (and can be heard from the woods). It's a pretty area!

This is a really neat historical farm. It is set in the Depression era, with some of the items on…read moredisplay having signage that indicated pre-WWII dates in the late 1930s/early 1940s. It is a very nice property located directly across the street from Gallant Woods Park, which it shares a connector trail with. It does have its own very large gravel parking lot, as well. There is a cute farmhouse, a white barn, and a machine shed. Inside of the exterior buildings are era-appropriate equipment, such as tractors and a really neat car! There is also signage and space for the sheep and cows, which were all outside enjoying the lovely weather during our recent visit. There is currently a very cute calf too. A variety of outdoor games were available to play, such as badminton, and the farmhouse can be toured, as well. There's a large vegetable garden next to the house that was absolutely blooming. A large pond is set towards the middle of the property, and it has a nice overview deck with benches to sit and enjoy the view. There were a lot of frogs and birds, plus a small turtle, to see on our recent visit. It has a very picturesque view with a little windmill. This is a wonderful place to explore and learn more about another time period!

The majority of Delaware Lake is leased by the state to form the nearby Delaware State Park, but…read morethis dam area itself is run and maintained by the US Army Corps of Engineers. In addition to the dam itself, they've done a wonderful job making a lovely recreational area for use. There are three large playground areas, fit for various ages, including swings, slides, climbing structures, balancing areas, and a truly impressive tower structure on the largest one. There are two reservable shelterhouses with picnic tables and umbrella tables. Volleyball nets and a basketball court are available, plus a short 1/2 mile to 3/4 mile trail through the woods. Educational materials and displays are featured around the area, and a nice restroom facility is present. There is a nice-sized parking lot too. This was a very impressive playground and an enjoyable recreation area that we will certainly be returning to again.

Gallant Woods Park is a very nice park that features a wide variety of habitats, including forest,…read moremeadow, prairie, and wetlands. There is a very nice Interpretative Gateway that is a little sheltered area with benches that features a lot of excellent signage, maps, and pictures about what you might see here, including the plants and animals. A reservable shelterhouse with restrooms and water fountains is located next to a green space with a horseshoe set up and a cute little playground and benches. The playground features some climbing and balancing structures, a slide, and a 'treehouse' type structure on top. A sledding hill is also available here when the weather is a bit more appropriate than it was on our recent hot, sunny visit! Signage on the Pheasant Run Trail had a neat mindfulness theme with various activities along the way to help with the process. There are three additional trails available - the Acorn/Gateway, the Tree-Frog, and a Primitive Trail, plus a connector trail to the Gallant Farm, which is a historic Depression-era farm located across the street. There are a couple of parking lots available in Gallant Woods, including one near the shelterhouse/playground area.

What preservation parks of Delaware county is doing is truly great work. The are added new parks…read morearound the county, similar idea as the metro parks in the bigger cities. However I find the Delaware parks to have more charm. They also seem very connected to their community. Several of these parks I prefer to state parks. Gallant farm is especially interesting. You get to go inside an old farm house furnished with items from that era. The gentleman working there was information. He loved the work he was doing there and you could tell. I found the other parks to be clean with modern buildings. Trails clearly marked and easy to follow.

We found this by accident and I am so glad we did! It is a large fenced in area with a pond and…read moredock that you rent out privately! One of our dogs does great with other people but not so hot with other dogs. Because of this she never gets to go to a dog park. This was her first time being able to run free in a larger than yard size area and she loved it! It has a nice shelter house to keep you out of the sun. The pond edges are shallow enough the dogs can wade in and you can stand in the water as well. You bring your own poop bags and chairs and toys but there were lots of balls scattered around. I highly recommend!!

Holy smokes this place is perfect!! Do you hate dog parks, but want your dog to have a place to…read morerun, swim, & play?! This is your place!! I have two girls and one is dog reactive and the other has a noisy play style so traditional dog parks aren't an option for us. Mutt's is a private dog park that you pay for by the hour to have the entire place to yourself. I couldn't believe it when I heard it! It is $10/hr per dog and you have the entire place to yourself. There's a pond, a paddle boat, a little shelter area for shade, an agility course, a human bathroom (porta pot), and all the space needed to run your dog ragged. The park owner is quick to respond when booking and always has poop bags, water, and toys for the pups. We always take our own, but it's nice to know he has some as well. You can book longer than an hour at a time, but our girls go hard quick so an hour is sufficient. The only down side is that we live in downtown Columbus and it's on the north side of Delaware so it's about 45 mins one way. But it really is worth it!
