We've been going to Minibop forever... I think since my son was 9 months old and he's now 20 months. We have the monthly membership which includes a weekly class of choice (same day) and you can attend other sessions during the week as well if there are spaces available. Our son really enjoys the class. The class size is never too big. I think it's like ~6 kids at most. The classes are fairly structured with a new theme each month where they introduce a few new songs - it helps to keep things fresh. Our son loves it and when we sing the songs at home he always starts dancing, singing and shaking! The teachers are amazing! We first had teacher Sophie and now teacher Ray. You can tell that the instructors are very passionate about what they do and I like that they each have their own style. We had a couple subs a few times and they were amazing as well. One thing that I hope to be able to attend in the future is some of the broader community events they have. I know that they had a Halloween event and an event at Americana that we couldn't make, but it would be nice to continue to build community. Overall, a great add to our weekly routine to get out, do something different and expose our son to music, music theory and other kids / families. read more

Music lovers, where you at? I'm sure that's a silly question because everyone has a fondness of music, right? I love music but can't keep a rhythm to save my life! So if you have a young child who's interested in music, or who you have hopes and dreams will one day become the next pop star, it's only fitting to get them knowledgeable about the topic from infancy. It's true that Music has always been an essential part of our lives, and there are studies that having an ear for music elevates a child's math and reading skills. That's why I'm so happy to present Minibop Music, a school specifically aimed at introducing music to babies, toddlers, and young children. Their program provides kids ages 0-4 with an appreciation and understanding of music, from beats and tempos to styles of music and music theory. Founder Marsha Smith has a musical background, but once she became a mother, she decided to open up Minibop to share her love of music with other families and kids. It's so important for us to share together new challenges, music, movement, and love. Simply sign up online and bring the kids to class. All instruments used in each 45 minute class are provided in a bin with the child's name. Each class has a structure to keep kids engaged. Start by greeting your fellow classmates, then continue with a sing-along, rhythm-keeping, and play activity. End each class with wrap up/cool down, and a farewell song. Children (and parents in attendance) will engage in such instruments as egg shakers, drum sticks, bells, and xylophones. But the fun doesn't stop there! They also incorporate colorful scarves for kids to use for whimsical dance/play. And to make it extra special (and make it a little different for the parents attending too!) they switch up the songs and activities each month to a new theme. For example, one month will be jungle themed, and another month will be beach themed, camping themed, you name it! The possibilities are endless. Classes are held at their studio location in Glassell Park. They are branching out to new locations like Santa Monica, Pasadena, Woodland Hills and more. Other fun events Minibop is involved in include The GRAMMY Museum, Gene Autry Museum, the Palisades, and the Americana. Recently they attended KidsCon in Anaheim. You can also find the Minibop program in preschools all throughout LA County. For older kids 8-14 Minibop offers songwriting classes, music camp, and there are private lessons for piano, guitar, ukulele, and vocals. Overall, I'm so glad to have started my daughter down her musical path. The musical leaders are all professionally trained and engaging with the youngsters. Their personality shines through and they really make it fun for the kids and even the adults! After attending a couple sessions with her I find that I myself am even learning some new things (and my rhythm has improved!) So don't delay in expanding your child's knowledge and appreciation of music. You just may unlock that rock star hidden inside them that they never knew existed! read more

I really enjoyed my class with Teacher Gaya today! She has a really beautiful voice and was very attentive to every student. I appreciated that we got to play with a wide range of instruments (xylophone, drum, tambourine, shakers, rhythm sticks). Parking is easy and the location is bright and airy. I would say this place seems more appropriate for toddlers, not infants. I would definitely bring my son back here once he's older to build upon his music knowledge. My little family is LOVING Monday music classes at Minibop. My husband has even made sure to get Mondays off of work so he can join my son and me. From the moment you walk into the reception area you are greeted with a genuine smile and refreshing conversation. Adults temperatures are taken, then off to class you go. Seating is on the floor (the cushioned seats are comfortable). Music is themed by the month and has cute, toddler appropriate props that go along with the songs...the bubbles are the biggest hit with everyone. The kids are free to move around as the like and there is enough space for social distancing. Each class is 45 minutes in length, which is great since our little man wouldn't last a minute longer than that time allotment. Teacher Ricky is extremely engaging, he's funny, and he is great at keeping the time light and fun (it can be tough to hold a toddler's attention). Our son is 20 months old. He has been on "lockdown" for a good majority of his life. MiniBop music is the first time he has been socialized with anyone outside of our family and very close friends. This review is long overdue... If you are looking to experience great socialization and learning for your baby, then Minibob Music is the place that you are looking for. My daughter and I had an incredible and invaluable experience. I brought my daughter at 8 months old, and my husband/family members saw positive changes in her in terms of how she interacts with others. It was so great that when my nephew came in to visit, we had enrolled him to for a class and he thoroughly enjoyed it. We just took a special holidays class over the weekend with our 1 year old and absolutely loved it! My husband and I were so impressed (and our son!). The moment you step in, you can feel such a happy and energetic vibe from everyone there. The performers and organizers were all talented and extremely friendly. Our son loved the music, singing, all the activities (especially the big drum and the shakers) and even their wonderful Santa that he was so enamored with. This was a special event, so I believe it did cost more than the typical class, but they made it worth it and even included pictures with Santa, more activities and lovely snacks.
