The old casino building was once part of a complex…read morewith a neighboring hotel (long since demolished) and was built in a grandiose style with lovely details that have mostly been preserved or recreated by the museum. The entrance was free on the day we went and even on paid days is pretty reasonable at 30 pesos. The beautiful staircase and ballroom with its giant crystal chandelier take you back to another time. The solid but small collection of art in the downstairs level contains some large paintings that allow one to contemplate Argentine history especially in relation to water which feels quite relevant given the museum's location on the river bank. There is a small cafe in the museum, but it seems a shame to eat there, as it has no view of the river, and there are so many wonderful little spots in Tigre with a view or outdoor patio. The museum is the perfect size for an afternoon escape back in time on a rainy day. You can run through the exhibits in under an hour, but around two hours seems to be enough time to see everything including the grounds.

    if you're in Tigre and have a little time to kill, the Museo de Arte is a nice little place to…read morecheck out - while not a destination, you'll likely pass it if walking down Paseo Victoria anyway. the art collection is small and forgettable, but the architecture of the building itself (The Tigre Club) is far more impressive, a mix of French and Italian styles. formerly a casino and social club, the long terrace overlooking the water is a great place to relax, catch a cool breeze, and get some pretty cool views. the gardens are well-kept and worth looking at as well. admission is dirt cheap - the most recent info I could find says it's 20 pesos.
