I came to this clinic due to night time sweats/fever/ and chills. I tested negative for all rapid tests and was given "viral" diagnosis. The NP even asked me if I "really felt sick " and questioned if I had allergies. She asked me if my eyes "always looked like that?". Whatever that means. Anyway, I work in health care as a doctor of PT. We do frequent red flag screening. Night time sweats/fever/and chills are red flags. This was disregarded by the NP at this clinic. I was indeed suffering from a life threatening illness that was not thoroughly evaluated. I eventually advocated for myself and requested a chest xray from a different medical provider . I ended up having pneumonia. read more

Apologies in advance for a bit of a lengthy complaint. They appear to have a regular practice of misleading customers about up-front costs and services only to bill for multiple visits months later. I wanted to address some mental health problems I had, but wasn't sure they could help. They told me they could, diagnosed me, prescribed medication, and then told me I could go to a pharmacy. Later, I was called and told that prescription and diagnosis were invalid, but was still charged for the visit, which upset me, as the ability to diagnose and prescribe were the main reasons I showed up at all. They recommended I get counseling. I asked, point-blank, about the cost in my first visit and my second visit, was told my insurance covered it, and scheduled future visits on that basis. Three months later, all of my visits were billed to me at full price, for around 130 dollars apiece. No hate to my individual practitioners, they are competent professionals, but the business and billing side of this operation is a mess, and I feel disrespected and misled. I would love to praise the people that treated me, and I apologize if this does not come off as even-handed. Unfortunately, my experience has been stressful beyond belief. Certainly, I would not have racked up these expenses if I had gotten accurate information at any point during the three separate times I asked for it. read more

They *will* not file your insurance or, if through some miracle they do, they'll do it wrong. The woman who administered my vaccines was a friendly crackpot but this insurance business is a nightmare. And forget trying to call Minute Clinic--I've been on hold for 15 minutes so far, and this is my third call. If you need urgent care, skip this place, unless you want to sign up for hours and hours of bureaucratic nightmares. Do NOT go to Minute Clinic. I did an online search to see if CVS accepts my insurance. They did, but Minute Clinic did NOT. Minute Clinic does NOT tell you they are not the same company as CVS, even though they have the same heart logo in the same red color next to their name as CVS on all CVS stores. The kinds of insurance they accept is different from CVS. My nurse practitioner never told me he was not in my network. Nor did he nor the CVS website indicate that they do not accept insurance for travel medicine/vaccination consultations. I walked in Minute Clinic to get flu shot, thinking it's a CVS pharmacy. Later I found out it's a separate entity. I talked to an attending person. She repeatedly assured me that my insurance, Blue Cross Blue Shield, covers as in-network. I wish I didn't listen to her. I went there to get two shingles shots. I gave my insurance card as well. Now my insurance company told me those immunization shots taken any other pharmacies are covered but because Minute Clinic is different from CVS pharmacy, it's treated as out of network. I don't use insurance anything other than preventive care. Now I need to even pay for immunization shots because CVS didn't make it clear that Minute Clinic is no pharmacy. read more

Apparently, CVS and CVS Minute clinic are very different. My first Shingrex shot was $25 at a CVS Pharmacy. It's a time dependent shot, so when I made the second appointment, I only had the MinuteClinic option. I signed in at the Pharmacy, not realizing it was a separate thing. Today, 2 months later, I got a bill for $179. I called- they don't submit for prescriptions. I called both my insurances, and the Drug coverage as well. No one can explain why the cost is 7 times the first shot. read more

they are ill-equipped to handle consumer concerns. I spent 4 1/2 hours trying to get a COVID-19 test faxed to me. It was impossible to get it completed. When finally done, the part of the report stating "Not detectable - - negative" was not sent. Another 2 hours, no success or progress. I am now NOT able to fly. I am not NOT able to volunteer going into a 3rd world country because the information was not obtained. I DID waste $1,200 on air fare, as I was denied boarding a plane. I was also denied getting into another country, between the test did not say "negative, not detected". Minute clinic did all of this for me - - - really nice. We were here to get prescription for eye-drops. Erika Cabera , fnp-bc refused to see us. The argument was there were people on the schedule , but physically there were NO ONE in line. To my request that it will take less then 10 mins, she referred to complications with scheduling that it is connected to computer programming that she can't check us in etc, then she has to call those people to see where they are. Please be aware that the claim on 1-2 days for COVID testing results is a lie. Not only it takes much longer but they completely refuse you any help or follow up with the lab in case of emergency. They take cash, cc and insurance. This location is on the second floor of CVS. Brand spanking new! Kudos to laura NP and Melissa NP. They were knowledgable and caring! Come here for cuts, bumps, lumps. Something oozing and it shouldn't be? Come here. Hooked up with a guy/girl and having regrets? Have blood work done. They do everything except surgery. The doctor here was very unkind to a patient who struggled with English. He was obviously waiting here longer than myself and my girlfriend but didn't understand he had to sign in at a kiosk. It's strange and dehumanizing signing in at a kiosk and this man clearly did not understand that he had to sign in on a screen. He asked to see the doctor before they closed for the day and the doctor herself was very rude. I tried to stand up for a complete stranger but the doctor would not budge and complained they It's not her fault he doesn't understand how to sign in. It was not fair or decent to turn someone away who had been waiting for so long and the doctor lacked common human decency. Our visit was on January 4th 2020 at about 4:45. We went to the Minute Clinic in Berkeley, CA (CVS at 1451 Shattuck Ave) and got tetanus shots. These shots are covered by Medicare and we gave the clinic all our insurance information. However, we have received repeated bills from Minute Clinic. So we called Minute Clinic and were told that they do not submit claims to Medicare, that we have to do so. This is ridiculous, and in the future we will certainly go elsewhere. read more

I do not recommend using their online visits. I signed up for a video visit which was suppose to be a $59 charge according to their website. The website was not working properly at the time I made the appointment to process credit card payments. Two months later I received a statement for $139. I made an appointment to get a typhoid vaccination for traveling abroad. She was very presumptuous. She wanted to know where am I going and when. I believe that line of questioning was unnecessary. I remained respectful. She also said 'she HAD to take my blood pressure. I've received several vaccinations since the pandemic, not once did anyone take my BP. Then she tried to prescribe medication. She is NOT my doctor, I felt like she was very pushy, disguised like she cared. To top it all of I was charged $59.00 for a primary care consultation. At no time was I informed about this charge, she quoted me one price for the vaccination and that was also incorrect. I would have appreciated if she would have discussed the extra charges with me prior to giving me the vaccination. Very unprofessional and manipulative. Unbelievable!! 14 days since I tried to get a test. 11 Days since my test at a CVS drive thru....that took 3 days to schedule....and still no results. When I made appointment they said results in 1-3 days. After test they started saying 3-4 days. After 7 days I started calling, finally got someone to put in a formal request to "check" the "status" of my test. Not for the results....just to find out where I was in the que! Was told at the end of their shift the request would go in and then I would receive a reply in 24-48 hours. Of course no reply....now 98 hours later. I can't work without results and they don't give a $#!+ ! Worse than DMV. If I find out I end up having to pay a deductible through my insurance, heads will roll. read more

That said, the service was quick and polite, but I would not have used Minute Clinic if I'd known about their billing department with zero customer service. As another reviewer noted, Minute Clinic and CVS Pharmacy consider themselves totally separate entities directly beside each other under the banner of CVS. I am in love with this place. I wish they could be my primary doctor (even with the $159 I had to shell out sans insurance). I only hope the quality doesn't go downhill after more people discover it. I dropped in on a Saturday afternoon before my throat had been KILLING me every time I swallowed, and I was fairly sure I had strep. Urgent Care and City MD both began at $150 + hundreds of dollars of test fees, and the internet is littered with horror stories of the staff there. Here, CVS' online price listing told me I'd probably be paying a $99 exam fee + a $30 strep test fee. (It turned out I had an additional $30 comprehensive strep test fee, but this was what ultimately told me I *did* have strep and is standard for strep testing.) I followed all of the signs to the second floor (way in the back), checked in on the touchscreen, and settled down in a comfy chair to wait. I was a little dismayed at first that there were 4 people ahead of me with an estimated wait of 98 minutes, but the system said it would text me when my wait time hit 30 minutes. Here was the only snag of the entire visit as no more than 10 minutes after I sat down, NP Carolyn poked her head out the door and started calling names. No one responded. "Is anybody here waiting for the minute clinic?" she finally asked. And lo, I was seen in just 10 minutes. Now. I have made it clear I love this place, but I also love this lady. At one point she complimented me on how my tonsils were "tremendous," and informed me that I wanted the "good [sudafed] they keep behind the counter, the stuff people make meth out of." Carolyn was responsive, caring, funny, and made me actually feel good about being there, if one could believe that about strep. As someone paying out of pocket, I appreciated that she was very upfront and clear about all of the costs. Later, when I got my follow up call from a different (equally wonderful) lady, I was scrambling to price check antibiotics and she was very understanding, offering to just call me back in 20 minutes so I wouldn't have to navigate their automated phone tree. She gave me more comprehensive information on treatment than any doctor ever has (remember to throw out your toothbrush!). Basically, even once I have insurance, I'd make this my first choice for sick visits like this. They rock! read more

They have not emailed them or sent them via text message. When we tried to register her for mychart, their system did not recognize her information. She waited on the phone for a long time only to get passed off to someone else. Then she was disconnected. Went here a couple of months ago for issues with ear wax when my own doc claimed not to be able to do anything yet took my money anyway! The nurse was amazing. Syringed my ears in minutes and I left feeling so much better. I am going back today as I have bronchitis and laryngitis - I know at this time of year!! Will update review when I get home. read more

Stay far away! Not worth your money or time to go here. Better off going half a block away to city md where there's a higher quality of service and doctors, not nurse practitioners. I visited minute clinic after having a sore throat, fever and sore glands for a week. The nurse practictioner, Tina, didn't listen to a word I said and seemed totally clueless. I had all the symptoms of strep throat and she didn't even bother to do a strep test. She barely checked my throat. All she recommended was to take over the counter mucinex and allergy medicine bc I had a slight drop in my throat but no other symptoms of allergies. When I explained I had already been taking mucinex and it wasn't working, she seemed nervous about giving me a prescription. Because of her lack of knowledge/expertise she seemed to avoid prescribing medication. I continued taking mucinex/allergy medication for an additional 5 days as she recommended (even though it states on the box not to take for more than 5 days)then the sore throat worsened to the point that I couldn't talk swallow and felt like my throat was tightening... I also developed severe abdominal pain. Went to city md on 57th and found that it was strep throat which had worsened bc it wasn't treated with an antibiotic. Stay away from minute clinic at all costs! They don't do a thorough examination and will hesitate to give you antibiotics. read more

I knew I needed to see a doctor but the only options were this or the ER. I waste my time and money for someone with a thick foreign accent to tell me I needed to go to the doctor. I was very happy to find this place. I was upset when the Duane Reade clinics shut down in December 2016 where I had gotten most of my medical care. I was able to make an appointment on their website and I didn't have to wait long after my appointment time.The provider (I'm not sure if she was a PA or NP) was very nice and took care of my issue. She provided guidance on follow-up care. She wired my prescription into their pharmacy (after inquiring if that was the pharmacy I wanted to use) so that by the time I walked out of the examining room I only had to wait 2-3 minutes for the medications. I'll definitely try them next time I have an acute problem. read more
