He's very patient and a delight. All the machines they use are old school shop materials which provides for more customization and precision in my opinion. Doug made sure to make everything precise and as asked. Make sure you call in to catch him though! The entrance doesn't feel like an entrance. It's literally a working shop so don't back away because you think you're at the wrong place!

These days, I work hard so my dog can have a better life. (Wish I came up with that!) But I still love coming in to get nice decorations, toys, and yes, pretty paper. These days, I use them to wrap gifts. A lot less work than lining envelopes. I still get very fixated about everything in this store so much so I once mistaken a stranger outside this shop for my husband and showed him my phone saying, "look honey" showing him a photo of our dog and a product I brought inside the shop. Good thing it wasn't NSFW stuff. The guy did humor me until I realized he wasn't my husband. I was so mortified. My actual husband was laughing at me as he came over to rescue me from the embarrassment. In my defense, I wasn't wearing my contacts that day and they were wearing similar colored jackets. There. Jason had quoted a quick turnaround - 2 weeks for a logo re-design and a total of 6 weeks for the web site to go live. 1/31/2023 - received a quote from Jason at Voco Design 2/1/2023 - I accepted the quote and paid my 50% deposit 2/9/2023 - logo re-design delivered and accepted 3/8/2023 - web site mock ups delivered and accepted 4/12/2023 - invoiced for remaining 50% and paid it The following steps is when everything broke down Between May and June of 2023, either myself or Jason was out of town/country, so we could not finalize. 8/2/2023 - Jason requested access to my web hosting server to start uploading. I have not seen any changes to my web site at all. Since then, I have not been able to get a commitment from Jason or his team. Jason has sent me messages saying he was out of town, medical emergencies, etc which I can totally understand and was willing to wait for him. I had called his office and Tom had responded to look into it, but I have now been ignored by Tom as well. As of 2/1/2024 (one year later!!), I have sent an email to Jason and Tom to just close the project. They can refund me some portion of my 100% paid job, but they have not responded. I have changed the password to my web hosting as a precaution. I am willing to call this a loss and mark it as a lesson learned working with design companies. Maybe my company was too small for them, but seems my money was good enough for them

My wife, mother-in-law and her sons needed to find a notary suddenly to sign a Power Of Attorney for the 94 year old mother (with failing health) so we could have her oldest son clear up any remaining legal affairs so we could get her back to Korea to live. We were greeted by Lou later on a Saturday afternoon with an upbeat cheerful attitude who was patient through the whole process of dealing with an unnecessarily complex law document to make sure it was properly signed and understood. The day before I was supposed to pick it up, they called me and told me they had "lost" my stole. Instead of taking accountability, they told me to go buy another stole myself and that they would embroider the replacement "on the spot." I ended up taking time off work trying to deal with this mess, and to make things worse, I could barely even get ahold of the store while trying to figure out what was going on. When I asked if they could at least reimburse me for losing my stole, they told me they couldn't because they were "no longer making a profit" off my order. There was little to no apology, no urgency, and absolutely no professionalism. Then after all the back and forth, they suddenly "found" my stole and told me to come pick it up at 5:30. It became pretty obvious that they never actually lost it -- they just lied about it to buy themselves more time. This was one of the most stressful customer service experiences I've had, especially considering this was for a major life event. Really shitty service. I would not recommend trusting them with anything important or time-sensitive.

They had me run around in a chicken suit for my last gig. I've had some great experiences and met some creative people with the Blackwell files - thanks guys!
