He dismissed my questions putting me off in a truly condescending tone. He said no one there would have the time to show me around the studio and that he himself had classes to teach. Then he informed me that there was a waiting list of 50 or 60 people to get into the studio and in other words, just bug off. He clearly wasn"t going to give me the time of day. Happily, I did bug off. And I was grateful to know what kind of people I would have been dealing with had I not had the heads up he gave me.

A huge reason for that was Haley -- she is truly one of the kindest, friendliest people I've ever met. From the moment we walked in, she made us feel so welcome and excited to be there. She was upbeat, informative, respectful to both the sketchers (us) and the models. Made sure there were no photography during class unless it's through them to make the models comfortable. (takes guts to be nude in front of a bunch of people drinking and looking at you!) She brought out the artistic sides of everyone in the room, guided us through different sketching exercises (1-3-5 minute sketch sessions) so we're busy drawing instead of JUDGING what we were drawing. such helpful tips! I think we were all VERY impressed with our own artworks! I really thought I'd be drawing a little more than stick figures before coming here.
