What a beautiful library. The parking lot can accommodate several vehicles, the library is very spacious and they have a lovely deck between the library and the school. This is a very good sized library with the best view I have ever encountered at any South Bay library. What prevents this from being a 5 star review is that this is a public library', but the kids (god love them) who come here after school are pretty chatty as though they are hanging out at school. This can be a bit distracting for the patrons looking for peace and quiet. But, as long as you can focus your mind in your work, the noise is not the worst you can imagine, so don't let that detract you from enjoying a visit to this gorgeous location. read more

A racist library Never felt so unwelcome I was there just to use my laptop and do some research and no one was in the chairs, it was only 3 people inside the library and I was approached and said I have to only use one chair...the rest and freaking white people...I don't really get mad about stuff but this is a public library and that's the first time I felt targeted for just using a chair, I politely said, I am just using it for my laptop and I will give it to someone if they want to use it. Literally, no one was in the library!!! The other two dudes were each using separate big tables with 5 chairs all by themselves and I was just using one freaking extra chair! read more

If you live in Miraleste this is probably the most convenient library in Palos Verdes. Very nice and neat. I gave this a four star because when it's 3:00 people from Miraleste intermediate school come over and always talk loud. It's really disturbing to hear people talk loud. The librarians don't even stop them! But this is a very neat and nice Library! I would have given this three stars. But I gave it four stars for convenience! Very nice. read more

Gorgeous view looking east over the LA and Long Beach harbor - just like the opening scene in Bladerunner. You get a great view of the area oil refineries - sometimes you get to see the flames. Great place to watch the full moon rise over the harbor - or the sun rise over the harbor if you get up early. Small library, helpful librarians. They appreciate your book donations - helps them mitigate their low book purchasing budgets. read more

It can be a quiet little library with an amazing view. BUT, after middle school gets out (3:05pm), this place is a madhouse. So, make sure you understand when you are coming. It is smaller and lacks the resources of a bigger library, but the staff is outstanding. I really enjoy coming here. read more

This place has a potential to be a great library. I came here to study since I heard it was a quiet place. It was everything but that. It may be because I happened to come during stay time, but there were kids running around screaming with no one stopping them. Once it was over I was relieved but it didn't stop there. People would not stop talking (and not quietly) including the librarian. I may give it another chance but I feel like a wasted half of my day of studying on avoiding the noises. read more

Am I allowed to say that I love this Library? To be fair I came here for the Passport Services. My wife booked on line and we arrived a little early, but it didn't seem necessary. Plenty of parking and Jesse helped us out from start to finish and his attention to detail for me and my 3 kids was incredible. We chose to fill out the forms on line (VERY easy to follow along and print out) I would guess that we were in and out within an hour for all 4 of us. He did photos, checked everything out, double checked. The kids got a chance to read some books while they waited, I marveled at the million dollar view of the Port and Long Beach. Sure the drive was a little out of my way - but so worth it. I am honestly not sure why anyone would subject themselves to go anywhere else and fight crowds or deal with someone that doesn't have a stellar attitude like I experienced here. If they had "adult bean bag chairs" like they had for my kids, I might come back more often! We can't wait to travel and see what the rest of the world has to offer! read more

I like this library a lot. Some of my friends prefer the other PV libraries, and I hear they are nice, but I have never been to any of them. I think the Miraleste branch is a nice low-key destination for a mom and a couple of toddlers and it is a very easy and short drive from San Pedro - only about 10 minutes from home whereas the other libraries in the PV district would be a half hour or more (and what a waste of gas.) This is a small library with a nice view of the harbor. They have a nice kids section and story hours Monday and Wednesday mornings. The librarians do a really nice job picking out three or four stories with a common thread, and weave in some singing and dancing for the kids to participate in and overall the library staff is very welcoming to the little ones. For "grownups" I am not sure that the book selection is very big compared to other libraries (not that I have time to look) - however, if you are looking for something in particular, and it is not available here, you can get it transferred from the other PV library branches for no fee and have it within a few days. I think you can even get items on loan from outside of the PV library system. Once you have a library card you can log on to their network from home and request items to be held for you at the desk, and get a phone call or e-mail when they are ready. The library staff is also quite helpful if you are looking for something or just have a question in general. Books and CDs are free to borrow and there is a $1 charge for DVDs. Parking is not plentiful - sometimes those story hours get crowded and you might have to wait for someone to leave to get a spot in the small lot, but usually there is enough turnover that the wait is not too long. I understand that there are plans/hopes to raise funds and do a major improvement of this library. read more

Made an appointment here and turned in the necessary paperwork for my daughters brand new passports. Ginger at the library was very sweet, professional and thorough. She took the passport photos of the girls and made the necessary copies of our drivers licenses. Ginger made the whole process easy. read more
