It was clearly a Bangladeshi restaurant as several of the items had Bengali names for the dishes. The restaurant didn't look very exciting from the outside to be honest but as it was just opening we went in and requested a table for two as we were really very hungry. From the moment we entered, seated, handed menus and brought over the beautifully presented starters, we felt very welcome and the service levels were just as good as the standard of food. The food was delivered in a sensible time to our table and we didn't feel rushed to move on to the next course, nor did we feel ignored. The music level was just right, pleasant music which didn't intrude on dinner conversation and when we said it was a little too warm, the heating was adjusted accordingly straight away. Both ladies and gents' toilets were spotless which is a great plus for me when going to a restaurant. It shows they look after the place. All the waiting staff were polite and friendly so we were happy to leave a pretty decent tip when they presented with the bill which was 100% accurate and very reasonably priced.

I recently discovered however that Bombay Mix delivers locally, and as I was rather tired (or lazy), decided to give them a try. Unfortunately Bombay Mix disappointed me from the offset. When you order online you can pick a delivery time (or ASAP), I chose 20:30, in spite of this within a minute a message appeared onscreen informing me that my food would be delivered at 21:05, which was a bit too late in my opinion, but the order had gone through so there was nothing I could really do about it. However most surprisingly, at 20:10 there was a knock on the door, and lo and behold there was the deliveryman with my food. Luckily my housemates and I were all in, but this very likely might not have been the case, so this was clearly unacceptable. The food itself was very fresh, but not to my personal taste. I found the pastry of my vegetable samosa to be far too thick and with very few vegetables in it. One of my flatmates also complained that the chicken pieces in his chicken korma were much too big. The food prices are also rather high, which I can generally accept when the food is good, but grated my nerves after this meal. The menu is very extensive and the online ordering and delivering service is handy if you can't get out of the house. However after my experience with Bombay Mix, I'm pretty sure I won't be ordering from them again.

Taking advantage of a groupon offer, we enjoyed an excellent '5 course ' meal…read more In truth it was more '5 dishes' than 5 courses' as you started with papadoms and dips and then could choose one starter, one main, one vegetable side-dish and one rice/nan. Within these parameters, there were no quibbles over which dishes we could choose, as is sometimes the case with such offers. The menu offered some quite unusual variations on the usual 'Indian' fare, including some special Bangladeshi food. Everything was freshly cooked and delicious. It was far more than we could eat but on request we were given takeaway cartons to take the leftovers home. Although Lassi (yogurt drink that for me is perfect with Indian food) was not on the menu, the friendly owner or manager immediately said he would ask the chef to prepare it. Decor is modern and tasteful around a deep blue/purple theme and chairs were comfortable. We have no criticisms and it represented good quality and value, although drinks are, as expected, more than pub prices (a pint of Cobra being £4). There is a good range of vegetarian dishes and we will definitely eat there again or try the takeaway service. There are special offers on particular nights that would be worth taking advantage of.
