Think of that contractor or mechanic you once hired to work on your house, the one you paid up front. So how did that go? This is that same story. If nothing else DO NOT pay any money upfront to this business. Why not? Read on...... I was looking for a business to polish an aluminum spark plug cover to dress up my engine bay and did a web search that resulted in finding MIRROR FINISH POLISHING. The website has a red scrolling marquee that says "QUOTES ANSWERED IN 24 HOURS". Sounds great right? So I submitted a request for quote on 10/28/2021 I was especially interested reading the following on the website as I wanted my recessed engraving prepped and painted: "We can fully customize the look of all parts from our full line of polishing options to our accent painting options, custom engraving, welding and custom shaping services which is why several customers that attend the SEMA show in Vegas every year use Mirror Finish Polishing for their show needs!" This was a simple part compared to the incredible work shown on the website...or so I thought. What could possibly go wrong? $1300 and 14 weeks later I found out how the hard way. Then 24, 48, 72 hours passed after requesting a quote and still no response. After waiting 6 days I decided I'd call on 11/3/2021. While the quote I finally received was higher than I expected I believe in the adage "you get what you pay for". I wanted the high quality 100% guaranteed as was advertised on the website. So I called and spoke again to the owner/CEO to confirm/align expectations. I sent a follow up email after our discussion to have on record the details of the work: The prepping and paint of the recessed areas (the lines and such) RED with the polished upper surface I think is my choice and as you say would be less costly. Please provide pricing I then received the following pricing from the CEO/owner: 1.) Aluminum Coil Cover Piece W/Many, Many Machine Lines Everywhere (Not the recessed areas) Completely Sanded, Prepped, Completely Re-surfaced and Triple Polished to a 100% GUARANTEED Mirror Finish: $289.00   2.) Aluminum Coil Cover Piece W/Many, Many Machine Lines Everywhere (Recessed Areas) Completely Sanded, Prepped, Completely Re-surfaced and Custom Painted Red: $129.00 (Pricing includes each and every letter recessed area) I then sent $513 that included the $289 for the polishing (1) and $129 for the prep and painting of the recessed area (2). I also paid $50 for the part to be Ceramic Coated. With tax it all was $513 The lead time was advertised as 4-5 weeks however I added some additional already polished dress up aluminum pcs (7) that the CEO/owner said could be touched up and matched with the spark plug cover for an additional $785. Without seeing the spark plug cover and it's progress with blind faith I took the CEO/owner at his word and sent him the additional $785 on 11/22/2021 Not hearing anything I called on 12/29/2021 and was told the parts were in final inspection and I should see the pics sent in the next week for review. Again I'd not heard anything that next week so I called mid January and was told a discrepancy was found in final inspection and I'd have to wait another 2 weeks. I then called 1/28 and was told the parts again were in final inspection and I should see pics the next week. I then let another 2 weeks pass without hearing anything or receiving an email and finally left a message on 2/11 for a status. Within the hour I received 5 pics (hyperlinks actually) showing all 8 pcs. GREAT! The day has arrived finally after 14 weeks. I then click on the pics one by one. Uh oh. Houston...we have a problem. 2 pics were straight on, 2 to the left, 1 to the right. No closeups. I then realize the one thing I was most concerned that the CEO/owner assured me would look great, the red painted recessed engraved area was not PAINTED AT ALL. This was not what I paid for at all. I was stunned. I felt I was duped and taken for a ride. In the phone call that followed the CEO/owner never mentioned correcting the line item I paid for painting the recessed area or reimbursing me for what was clearly neglected. At this point I was beyond disgusted dealing with this fraud after having paid $1300 in total to get exactly what I didn't want. I told him to send me the parts as I didn't want him or trusted him to make good on his word when I initially established contact with him. He made no offer to correct the issue nor to reimburse me for what wasn't done. I've now found another source to have another spark plug cover made to my requirements. This source came recommended. I purchased a back bumper on eBay that the seller had sent to MFP before selling. After receiving the part, I was blown away at how good it looked. So I reached out to Tony Brock and discussed some ideas for polishing and painting my project car's 440 engine supercharger, valve covers, and paint the intake and water pump. They performed as good on those parts as they did the back bumper I purchased on eBay. That tells me I can depend on consistency and expect great results from this shop. They will take your money and then blame everything under the sun for their terrible work. Notice how all the photos on the website are low-resolution and with very specific angles? Experience with Tony on restoring trim for two antique cars was terrible and in some ways criminal on his part. Work was not satisfactory and or was performed without advance authorization. He demanded payment and when refused he withheld the parts. They only polish and do not repair stainless or plated work. Do not use this service. read more
