Repeat customer! Done whole and half days with him. Sent my whole family out with him (he can…read morehost 4 passengers). Cpt Donnie is a great guide. All the rods were ready to go as soon as we got out there. He again did a great job putting us on the fish. (We just want to catch, not picky with what we're catching!). His boat rides smooth and he does a good job of keeping it as still as possible when fishing. (Meaning, it doesn't require a lot of balance to stand and fish and move about the boat - the sides are high enough that you don't have to worry about falling off. One of my children has balance issues, so this is a real plus for us.) another one of my kids gets motion sickness easily, but has never had a problem on his boat. My third kid has ADHD and is super hyper, and Cpt. Donnie was great with him (never lost his patience and even seemed to entertain him.) He's taken us around Oregon inlet and behind bodie island lighthouse. Scenery is a beautiful as the experience is fun. Dolphins are always spotted - we generally go in mid-October during our annual obx vacation. We look forward to going out with him again next year. Would definitely recommend.

No matter if it's fishing in the sound, near shore or slightly offshore this guy is knowledgable on navigating the local waters and catching fish. He is that guide that will explain why "we" are fishing a certain way using a certain technique. If you want to learn how to catch numerous species of fish depending on the time of the year as well as learn about the water and weather patterns and overall become a better angler, book a trip. You won't be disappointed.

My only issue has come up twice and after a little research I have decided that it is worth mentioning. On both trips, after the fish were laid out on the dock, the mate took fish and put them back on the boat. On both occasions, he carefully inspected the fish to ensure that he took some of the best. This was done after we tipped him very well and without asking the people that paid for the charter if this was ok. I checked around and found that this is not a common practice and folks were pretty shocked about hearing of it. I didn't want to make a scene at the time as there were a lot of people on the dock looking at the boats as they returned with their catch. Again, overall a good experience, but it ended in a way that left us feeling like were had been taken advantage of. Not sure if we will go with these guys again with so many other options.

That gave us no "feel" for fishing or the fight when catching a fish. In fairness, the Captain did all he could to find tuna, with several being caught - that was ok. The mate meanwhile was quite a challenge, bordering on rude and insolent to all of us. Because of that, would not recommend.

An intriguing example of adaptive reuse is the Bonner Bridge Fishing Pier, which has turned a…read moreportion of the Outer Banks' past into a public area for leisure and contemplation. For more than 50 years, the building provided an essential transportation link. It was originally a section of the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge, which was finished in 1963 to connect Hatteras Island to the northern Outer Banks. Because Hatteras Island could only be reached by ferry prior to its completion, the bridge revolutionized travel, business, and emergency evacuation routes. The Marc Basnight Bridge took the place of the Bonner Bridge in 2019 after it reached the end of its useful life. A 1,046-foot portion of the previous span on the Hatteras side was saved and used instead of being demolished. On October 1, 2021, the North Carolina Department of Transportation, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, and Cape Hatteras National Seashore formally opened this remnant to the public as the Bonner Bridge Pier. The pier provides sweeping views of the Basnight Bridge, Oregon Inlet, and the Pamlico Sound's surrounding seas. It's a well-liked location for peaceful reflection, fishing, and sightseeing. In contrast to the new fencing and amenities, visitors may still observe traces of its previous existence as a roadway, such as faded traffic lines and ancient repair markings. The National Park Service is in charge of running the free, 24-hour pier. It was a pleasant stop today but too hot to walk out to the end of the pier without shade.
