I don't speak hairdresser language, so it's hard for me to explain how I really want it. A good hairdresser is good at cutting what I really want, not just what he/she thinks that I want. Also, I don't speak much French. The one who cut my hair did not speak English. Translation was done by another co-worker and my girlfriend, which is French. My French is so-so but Veronique speaks English well and I was able to convey what I wanted. She made a suggestion that I was unsure of but lo and behold, it was much better than I imagined. I came in to see if there were any free appointments that day, to be told no, but I made an appointment for the next weekend. I came in and the hairdresser spent so much time on my wash and cut. Also, something I really hate in Paris salons is that they charge extra for things like conditioner and they always ask if you want these random treatments (which they don't tell you are 50+ euros extra) - she never did this! I had my hair washed, conditioned, had beautiful products put in it, all without charging extra or trying to get me to do an unnecessary treatment. I left feeling really great, with a good cut and amazing blow dry. It cost me about 65 euros, which isn't cheap, but after my last 50 euro cut that was so terrible I am willing to spend the little bit extra to make sure the time is taken and my hair was cared about properly.
