Stopped at Mission BBQ for dinner to-go this past Friday and have always been impressed with 100% of the staff wearing masks. My issue is customers. Only about 50% wore them in, and many don't wear them when approaching the counter for their food after they've picked a seat. Partitions would be a nice addition, but they really should enforce masks when customers approach the counter, especially considering they open your food for you to check the order at the counter while other people's air just disperses. Do they not even consider the older Veterans coming in on days they offer Vietnam Vets a free sandwich!? I'm a Veteran, but honestly go there specifically because it's my favorite BBQ & sauces in town. They also give free desserts to Veterans, yet they never ask this female if I am one...and I don't know many Veterans who would ask about why their dessert wasn't free. I should mention that my non-Vet husband gets asked about dessert 100% of the time and he's how I even found out about it. He also gets thanked at the door for my service, even though he points out that I am the Veteran (we met after my ETS). I used to go there fairly often, but not as much anymore. They're steadily losing me as a customer as long as they don't care if I get COVID breath on my food from another patron and I'm not being treated the same as males (I park in their Vet parking spaces when I am only picking up). I didn't kick arse and take names for 8 years to deal with that ignorance in a place where it should matter to them. read more

Ya'll. Why didn't you guys tell me not to eat here? I don't think I have ever given a 1-star but this place deserves it (if not less). I had a take out order, super easy, nothing outrageous-the girl taking my order on the phone said my two sides back to me twice and when I picked up my order, it was wrong. Collard greens and mashed potatoes don't sound alike, so...just sayin'. I got a super greasy brisket sandwich which was 50% fat with....wait for it... a bonus piece of plastic (dime-sized) hidden in the fat!!! I like surprises, but this isn't a Cracker Jack box.... Please tell me where I can get a decent brisket or bbq sandwich in Murfreesboro because I definitely won't be going back here. read more

Mission BBQ is one of my favorite bbq spots! It's very good and they have good portions too. The only thing is, I wish they had better sides. Usually I love a good mac n cheese with my bbq but theirs didn't impress me :/ The employees and mangers are very friendly though and they have a lot of military decor and even some people I knew in highschool on their walls! If it's your first time just know you seat yourself after ordering at the counter! Would definitely recommend to anyone who loves good bbq! read more

Delicious food, served quickly, staff is always attentive, positive and friendly! Their restrooms are always clean and well maintained. They're quick to clean up tables when someone gets up to leave. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Their system for ordering/waiting for food runs like a well oiled machine-nothing haphazard or chaotic like some small businesses. Fun decor/memorabilia (especially if you're a military family!) and most importantly, GREAT FOOD. Went with my husband and two young kids. We all gobbled up our plates. On August 21 I thought it has the best mac and cheese I've ever had in a restaurant. The staff was so welcoming. Marie in particular welcomed us effusively. I enjoyed the smoked salmon and cornbread. And the green beans also tasted home style. I went back on September 29 and the brisket and green beans were still incredible but someone else made the Mac and cheese and it didn't satisfy. The first trip I adored the banana pudding. On the second trip, since desserts are seasonal, the cookies and cream pudding sounded better than it tasted. I was a bit taken aback by the small portion but the realist in me knows I didn't need any more. read more

Been all over the place traveling for work and a lot of hotels. When someone from Hilton suggested mission we excepted the challenge and went. To say the least it was outstanding food. I will say the brisket was the best and most juiciest I had since Houston 10 years ago. It was so good I ate at missions 3 times in the 4 days I was in town. Finally made it to Mission BBQ and was not disappointed. It's probably the safest place in town to eat with all the first responders, police and state troopers who eat there daily. The decor is dedicated to Veterans and First Responders. Great pictures adorn the walls. The menu board is easy to read and the options are diverse. Today we shared the turkey; it was moist, tender and delicious. We also enjoyed beans with brisket, cole slaw and potato salad. Each side was yummy. Their drink choices include lemonade which was very good. My friend ordered the brisket burger and he said it was perfect. We were fortunate to be there at noon. Everyone is called to attention and the Star Spangled Banner is played and sung by patrons. The staff was graciously helpful and friendly. Excellent lunch experience. read more

This restaurant is cafeteria style where you order at the counter and you carry your food to your table. We were ready to order but was told we would have to wait one minute. It was 11:59 and they stop at noon to honor vets with the National Anthem. Afterward, our order was taken and we quickly got our food. I got the brisket and Jalapeno sausage. My wife got brisket and turkey. All the meat and sides we fantastic and we tried all six BBQ sauces on the table. Everyone was very friendly and I highly recommend eating here. read more

Brisket: 3/5 The meat was tasty and had a nice char but it was not moist like it was suppose to be especially since I got a moist cut. Turkey: 3/5 Again the meat was tasty but still had the same issue of dryness as the brisket. Jalapeño Sausage: 4/5 There were no complaints with it. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Food was pretty good. There were two of us on the same check but i was about done before the other order came out. Both orders were fresh and hot! The shrimp and sauce is amazing (but only for limited time). The fries were homemade and very good. There are several bbq sauces for the bbq, amazing ribs, brisket, turkey, sausage & chicken. Good food, for a good price. So before getting into the grub, the decorations at Mission are great. Patches from various law enforcement, EMS, and military units coat the walls interspersed with photos and other memorabilia it is interesting to see from walking in the door. The portions are good sized, and I have never had anything that wasn't good. The beans are fantastic, the meats are delicious. If I were pressed to find a negative, I would say it is the Mac and cheese. It is not bad, it is just not special. I like it, but compared to their other dishes it is just "Meh." The last thing I will say is that Mission BBQ goes above and beyond for those who serve or have served in uniform, which is awesome. read more

Customer service at this place today was off the charts. I told them it was my first time there and they treated us like royalty. We were able to sample stuff too before ordering. And this is during covid (nice!). My wife does not like brisket but their sample was so out of this world good that she got a whole sandwich of it. There's finally a new bbq joint in the Boro! When we first entered, an employee asked us if we been here before and explained how the menu worked. They offer samples of almost everything on the menu which was different than most places. We ended up with the Brisket and half bird. I expected a bigger portion for the price we paid. The brisket came out all chopped and broken in dry pieces. The half bird was better but some dry areas. The bird came out looking like a half of a chicken literally. Not cut in two pieces but a whole half chicken. I kinda felt bad eating it! The sides we had were Mac n cheese, baked beans, green beans, and baked cheesy potatoes. They were all average and good. The corn bread that's served with the plates were pretty good. It was moist and not crumbly dry. I did like all the different sauces they had at the table. Each of them were totally different and had character. The decor and the show of support for our trips was prominent. I really liked the family friendly environment vibe I got when I first walked in. Simply perfect. I've tried their brisket, ribs, pulled pork and turkey. But the winner hands down is their chicken. Every bite juicy and bursting with flavor. Coming in a close second... their baked beans with a robust sauce and beef brisket trimmings. During my visit today, I tried their cole slaw. Not a fan as I prefer a vinegar slaw. Without even having to ask they swapped out the slaw with their mac and cheese. Now that's customer service! Plus, their Mac and cheese is sooooo good. It's awesome to see a restaurant founded on American values (military, American pride, Christian values) is also putting out a great product with superb service. read more

Mission BBQ was recommended by a family member. So we checked it out for lunch. We all had the pulled pork, so we don't have to much to review. I thought the pulled pork was a little dry for my liking, but everyone else in our group thought it was good. My daughter who is 9 had the cheesy Mac n cheese, which she thought was a little to cheesy. I liked that they are military themed. They have veterans parking in the front. The wait staff was very nice. The prices seemed right in line with a pulled pork sandwich other places. Over all a good lunch experience. I would go again, next time I would try the ribs. read more
