I'm not the type to complain about lack of discounts, but this place reps the military so hard (wall decor, tv photo albums, national anthem, etc) but doesn't give a military discount. I am thrilled to see that Woodbridge has gained a Mission BBQ. The food is SO good and the service is fantastic. My husband and I stopped in on a Friday night around 6:00pm. It wasn't extremely busy, which was nice for us! We ordered within a couple of minutes and found a seat along the wall. We both ordered an XL combo (one side & fountain drink) of the pulled pork sandwich. I decided to order my sandwich NC style, which includes cole slaw. I would highly recommend this. The combination of the slaw and smoked pork is freaking amazing! They have a lot of different menu items to choose from including pulled chicken, brisket, turkey, salmon, sausage, and ribs. They also offer a wide variety of sides including Mac and cheese, baked beans, green beans, and fresh cut fries. I ALWAYS order their Mac and cheese and it never disappoints. The food is on the pricer side (roughly $21 for both my husband and I to eat), but is so worth it. The bbq is fresh and the sides are all made from scratch. The XL combo adds about $3 to each meal and the XXL combo (2 sides and a fountain drink) adds about $4.50. This location has plenty of seating and the staff are always friendly. A staff member approached our table while we were eating and asked if she could get anything for us. We politely told her that we were okay, but this check in did not go unnoticed. Though we were impressed by the amount of meat which was unusual, neither sandwich was hot. In fact nothing was hot - not the sandwich, baked beans or corn bread. While we ate, we watched the waitress start breaking down the drink area even though it was two hours to close. She took all the equipment from the drink station and piled it up on a table literally in the middle of a dining room. I can't say I've ever seen that done before. Ehh. It was just okay. I thought it was okay but it wasn't awful. The cost was way too high for what you got. I don't think I'd come back because it was just alright. I got the meat sampler platter and it wasn't that much food and then the sides were an extra 2$ each. They really didn't give you much food at all. The entire platter was 13$-14$ and it wasn't that much food. If it had been better quality, or more food, it would have been better but it was just generic Mac and cheese, potatoes and the meat just tasted okay. Nothing was memorable and I don't think I'd go back. The restaurant itself was kind of cold and the interior was just okay. I've been to several Mission BBQ's in the region since they started popping up a few years ago and have to say that the food and friendliness is pretty consistent between all the locations I've been to, including this one. They have a nice, large menu loaded with incredible BBQ treats, like various meats and awesome side dishes. The restaurant on this particular visit was nice and clean and they do the National Anthem at noon everyday, so be prepared to stand up, take off your hat and salute the flag!! The BBQ sauces are amazing and they even offer a hotter sauce that has just as much flavor as it does heat. My only gripe is their prices, they're simple price a little too high. A welcomed addition to the Woodbridge food scene. I had the opportunity yesterday to experience Mission BBQ. As a native Tennessean, who was born around good low and slow bbq I must admit I was skeptical at first. Realize there are two other chain bbq places down the street from this place; and a least one other now defunct in the last 3 years bbq place in the Woodbridge area. When I walked in I could smell the light but pleasant aroma of oak smoke. I quickly grabbed a seat in anticipation of my wife and 5 year old son. As I waited patiently, and saw the line continue to grow, I was met by Manny. Beyond the good food, Manny made my experience go well beyond just the food. He first thanked me for my continued service in the Air Force, and let me know he spent 14 years in the service as well. He asked did I have questions and, I jokingly told him about being a Tennesseean and how critical I would be of the food. He assured me it was good and offered me a sample of anything. I started with the sausage both original and the jalapeño and cheese, one word--Wow! The original was amazing, the smoke was great the flavor was equally good. The jalapeño cheese is good but I was in favor of the original. I told Manny about my son, who had a liver transplant at 8 weeks old due to Galactosemia (as I explain it a sever dairy allergy) and asked what was safe for him to eat. Manny meticulously went over the menu and we discussed some safe options. He even let me try some of the Fresh Cut Fries which were delicious. As I waited for my family Manny asked me if there was anything else I wanted to try, not wanting to be greedy, and not wanting to disrespect my southern values of being polite I gave in and sampled the Turkey, coleslaw, ribs, and of course brisket. (They we're passing those other items around for others to try as well). My family arrived and Manny came back to explain things to my wife and meet my son, we ended up getting a pulled pork sandwich and I purchased a meat combo. The food was great and the portions were plentiful. I appreciate and welcome this new establishment and hope they continue to maintain the high quality food and exceptional service moving forward. Service: Most of the staff seem to be very customer focused. I'm usually welcomed and greeted when entering or approaching the register or counter to place or pick up my order. Most are friendly with a smile, and helpful when addressing questions or concerns. Staff walks around sometimes to check on how you're doing or if you need anything. Food: I may not know BBQ, but I know what I like. We've been to many of the BBQ places and Woodbridge, and some of them have BBQ we like but Mission BBQ is a welcomed addition. We have been to Mission BBQ more in the last few months than all of the BBQ places in Woodbridge for the the last few years. The Brisket, Pulled Pork/Chicken, Turkey are all delicious. This place is a great addition to our town! With so much political turmoil and subpar restaurants floating around out there, it's refreshing to see an establishment that clears up both issues. Mission bbq is very patriotic. Today I witnessed the restaurant call everyone's attention to a table of veterans directly after the routine 12 o'clock national anthem. The restaurant is internally adorned with military patches and all types of patriotic flair. The food was delicious! The portions are not huge but are filling. Both my wife and I had the brisket with different sides. My son had the Mac and cheese with fries. Altogether our meal was a little over $30. On the few occasions that I'm able to leave work and have lunch with my husband we like to meet at Mission BBQ. when I'm in uniform everyone shakes my hand and thanks me for my service. This is the second time my boyfriend and I have been to this place and we really love it. We've tried the yardbird, pulled chicken and pulled pork which are all delicious. They have a few different sauces you can choose from to go with the meat items. The mac and cheese and the baked cheesy potatoes (seasonal side) are absolutely amazing! The fries are really good too. The only thing we didn't like were the bacon green beans which were extremely bland. They tasted like they were canned and you couldn't taste the bacon at all. And so I ordered 5 ribs and some brisket and beans for $22.xx, and I liked that the two orders came with a cornbread but here is where my nose is telling me something will not go well....... I didn't know that this rack of ribs is different than the one I'm so used to, which is the DRY rub and while the meat was good, the dry rub just ruined it for me, I ate it and the sweet sauce didn't help. That blend of spices in the rub overpowered my palate and for the rest of the night, I was having gag reflexes and a horrible aftertaste. Lot of you agree that the meat was good but I don't know if it's being done so that it promotes the place for being a Veteran friendly place but so far none of my friends that have gone there have been back because they didn't think it was worth it nor because the meat was so out of this world as some make it out to believe it is. Unfortunately, I'll be one of those that will not be coming back, because I like to grab a lot of sauce and pour it on the ribs despite the ribs having sauce rubbed all over as well. First time here and the experience was awesome. The decorations and atmosphere make it very warm and welcoming. We had the brisket and jalapeño sausages and they were amazing. We tried both their lean and moist brisket and I would have to recommend the moist option. While the lean is "healthier" it is not as juicy and delicious. Who eats BBQ to be healthy anyway? I also enjoyed their "hero" cup! It's four dollars but half is donated to charity. The cups are also nice to keep in the pantry and use for later! I had honestly not heard of Mission BBQ before I saw it in Woodbridge. While at first I was off put by the MAGA vibe I kinda felt ( very unusual in this area from my experience) But the food is great! Also the people that work there are super friendly. I had an issue with my food one tone but it was so close to closing time I wouldn't have been able to make it back. The manager offered to stay and wait for me to come back. Great bbq and a great experience. These folks are focused on quality and it shows. Not only is the food top notch, the service and facility are great. There are cheaper bbq places but you get what you pay for in terms of food quality and prep. So many places have sides that taste like school cafeteria food. That is not the case here as it seems as much effort goes into the sides and sauces as goes into the main event items.
