I had just moved to the UP alone with a Uhaul packed with my life and books, lots of books. I had planned everything perfectly...except unloading the Uhaul I had taken 2 days to pack. After a 2000 mile drive, a snow packed and ice covered concrete stairway into my new house made this already too big for me alone task quite impossible without help. My real estate agent had given me the phone number to the Mission Bible Training Center. One call and they sent Dave, Stefan and Joe to literally save my situation from exhausted exasperation. First they helped me dislodge my car from the snow bank (& fortuitously did the same for the girl across the street and saved her morning too). In the 15 minutes it took me to drive my car down the hill and get my Uhaul, these men had shoveled a clear path to the house through a buildup of un-shoveled snow and ice (backbreaking work). As a Christian moving from a community not nearly as imbued by the Spirit as these new friends obviously are, I was humbled and delighted at their profound service in helping me out. I gave them a small donation and a few trinkets while unloading. Two weeks later I'm rested and planning to attend a service this morning. I'm excited that the first people I met upon moving to the UP were exactly the folk I was hoping to meet more of in my future. Glory be to God and those who can see what's going on. read more
