I went to school their in 4th 5th and 6th grades. It was called at the time the new Agassiz because…read morethe old Agassiz was next door. The old was 150 years old about and the new was 100 years old or so. During my 6th grade with the help of the 6th grade boys ,we took down all the statues. I also remember the bannister going from the 1st floor to the 2nd fell off. The rumor was that Geordie McDonald spit on the wall and the banister fell off. I was agard on center street wearing white spats and white crossing guard straps.

So obviously I didn't go to school here…read more However, I DO live in extremely close vicinity to the school. I am witness on a daily basis to the adorable pupils, the devoted teachers and the charitable volunteers who make this school as cute as a button and a pleasure to be by. So I've been inside once (and will be returning 3 more times) for a home buying seminar which just so happened to be held inside the school. It is quite cute and surprisingly clean and new-looking, and brings me right back to my elementary school days, I kid you not. Cute posters on the wall, attendance tracking charts, small auditoriums that probably feel like the TD garden to these little 8 year old. Breaks your heart that they might be closing this place down...there were "please don't close my school!" posters hanging on the hallways. Soooo sad! I wonder what they'll do with it when it closes. Convert it into condo lofts? ...just might be the only option I could support...

I attended the Neighborhood School for middle school back in 2000, and it was honestly a very…read morebrutal experience for me. Although the student body was a very fun, funky buncha kids, a few of the teachers there seemed to push some sort of semi-religious, cultish ideology onto the students. And if you were unlucky enough to be non-cult prone, well, they singled you out. There were numerous instances where I personally was punished for seemingly no reason. The teachers once segregated me from the rest of the school for a day because I tried to comfort my reading buddy when another student didn't share their snack with him. I know; it doesn't really make any sense, right? One of the male teachers there also had a very creepy relationship with a boy a grade below me. Not sure what that was about. Tip of the iceberg, folks. Now, many people who read this might blame the bends of time for warping these decade old memories, but I remain very close friends with some of the other students from back then, and although many of them had an easier time than I did, they still confirm a lot of my concerns with the school. My bottom line is this: if you have a child whom you've trained to keep their mouth shut and blend in with the crowd, this place will be great for them. The whole school is like a church; as a student, you're just meant to blend in with the congregation and listen to some bull from your pastors. A lot of students end up at Boston Latin School and better. However, if your child or you yourself are the funkier end of the stick, watch the hell out. This place is creepy. And the headmistress is even worse. To clarify, I'm probably the worst possible reviewer you could listen to about NS, due in large part to the fact that I was berated and mistreated by the faculty my entire time there.

Trying to remove a child from the program entirely because the child behaves like a typical child is unacceptable. singling out one child in a room of children behaving in the same manner. a month after a minor incident, first one the child had in the two years with having multiple instructors, the child began to act up again. according to the instructor the child was repeating words and actions of the another children. that was disregarded and I was recommend that my child find a new daycare because this is not the right fit. without any meeting about resolving the issue or letting us know about what can happen if this continued. just right off the bat, get the kid out. no valid reason or nothing. 2yrs of no incidents but now my kid is a danger to every kid's safety because she is repeating the other children. it is unfair that a kid would singled out like this and told to leave. a 5yr old being forced out, how ridiculous. All this during the covid pandemic where daycare availability is hard to come by. the only conclusion is the teacher doesn't care for the child and wants to get rid of her. fantastic attitude instead of working with the parents on solutions.

The teachers are quite inexperienced, and were not able to deal with routine issues with our children. If your child has any issues at all (including needing some activity during the day) I would be wary of this daycare.
