Beautiful sanctuary place to pray, explore, shop, and enjoy the scenery! My first time visiting here. Thank you!

Such a beautiful Mission! It's a huge mission and it also has a coffee shop, museum, gift shop and a cemetery all in the same lot. There's plenty of parking. The mission is active and has masses in service. We went on a Sunday and mass was being held at 9am. As soon as the mass was over we were able to go inside to see the beautiful church! We had an awesome time learning about the history of the mission. We also grabbed some coffee and walked around the cemetery. First mission down, 20 to go in California!

I love going to the Mission. It is truly a place of peace and contemplation with beautiful gardens and buildings & statuary from the 1700's. Be sure to visit the historic church. Ample picnic areas, as well. The historical gift shop has interesting artifacts, books, paintings, and replicas of adornments found within the Mission Walls. Easy to get to, close to restaurants, grocery stores, and gas stations.

This visit is very worth it, especially if you have an interest in Catholic missions with Spanish colonial architecture. The $8 admission fee is paid at the gift shop beside the main entrance. The exhibits take about 20 minutes to view. 很值得參觀,如果你對西班牙殖民建築風格的天主教修道院感興趣的話。正門側邊紀念品商店付入場費八美金。大約20分鐘可參觀完全部展覽內容。

I specifically went to Oceanside to see this Mission and a museum downtown. I also purposely chose to go on a Wednesday at 10 AM, when they opened, to avoid crowds... it was perfect. The Mission did not disappoint. Beautifully kept, my friend and I came in August and paid the adult entry fee of $8., plenty of parking. It was fairly hot day, little to no shade unless you are inside, so be prepared. We did the Self-Guided Tour throughout the whole property inside and out, all 11 points of interest. I loved seeing the oldest Peruvian Pepper tree. A little disappointed that you could not walk through the beautiful gardens and see the pepper tree up close. There was a gentleman walking the grounds to help direct and and to answer any question you had. He was truly a book of information on the history of the entire place. This mission in Oceanside is definitely worth visiting. The Mission: definitely worth a visit. Employee/Volunteers: very nice. Spend: 1-2 hours.

Perfect day at the mission in Oceanside. Peaceful setting, beautiful church and lots of areas to sit and enjoy the peace and quiet inside the church and outside with nature. Bookstore and tours also available. Great way to spend the day alone or with family and friends.

It's been a long time since I've been to the San Luis Rey Mission. The last time was when I was in elementary school and we had a field trip lol I remember walking around the mission and then having a picnic in the grass lol Unfortunately, what brought me back to the mission, was a loss in the family. I have a couple family members who are buried here at San Luis Rey Mission. A family member recently passed away and his ashes are now in the wall at the mission. The service was beautiful. It's a great resting place. Very pretty clouds and greenery (flowers etc). We were really happy with the service. The mission is just as beautiful as it always has been.

Mission San Luis Rey escaped my previous visits in Oceanside since it is further away from downtown, about 15 minutes car ride. During my last visit, we realized we had more time to spend in the area, so we decided to check out the Mission. The Mission spreads out on beautiful grounds, it is more to visit that you might think. Lots of outdoors areas, ruins of an old laundry, cacti gardens, a cemetery, many spaces to explore. The place has even a cute coffee shop with a nice seating area behind, a cute yard. Lots of California history here (for more details check the review of my Yelp friend J. David H.), the mission was founded in 1798 with an European gothic style for the cathedral, more unique for our area. They do tour here, or you can visit on your own for $8 full admission, free for kids under 5. The place is open daily from 10 am to 4 pm. Lots to see and explore, very peaceful and serene, you can spend at least an hour here and gather more information about So Cal. We enjoyed our visit, the church is beautiful, it is a "working" church so they do held service here. Since we went before Christmas, the place was nicely decorated for the holidays!

The audio guide is a great feature! Try it out!

Our first time checking out this mission. Docents were friendly and informative. We added the audio guide to help us navigate the museum portion. I'm a sucks for a good audio tour and this one did not disappoint! So much info and I loved that you could listen to only what you were interested in. My kids 13 and 10, enjoyed the audio tour as well. There was a small coffee shop with snacks. The gift shop was really big with lots of unusual, but beautiful gifts. We had a nice picnic on the grass area out front. Restrooms were nice and clean. We really enjoyed our visit!

Beautiful mission. We went through the museum to learn its history. Since it was Friday, we listened to docents giving school tours. We spent about two hours touring the property.

Absolutely stunning the King Of Missions. This mission is simply time stopped in time and beauty. Went here for a candlelight concert, and instantly fell in love. I've never been to this mission but the location is wonderful. I also met one of the brothers and he was kind to tell us the differences of the Franciscan brotherhood. If you have a chance to be in Oceanside I decidedly recommend visiting this historic mission!!

Beautiful mission worth visiting with a lovely historic chapel and a small cafe offering excellent coffee in a peaceful courtyard.

Our group did a tour of the mission. Very enlightening to learn the history and see the artifacts our docent was great.

Two words: CHRIS BROWN…read more No, not the rapper :) I wish this were our home church but we live all the way up in north OC. But to hear this man preach, we make the 71-mile trek every couple months and it's always worth it. Not only is he a master story-teller and super engaging and funny and all the characteristics of an effective speaker, but most importantly he is faithful to the text--he does his research and draws out details that have often gone overlooked by even seasoned students of Scripture, and delivers God's word, neither in a "seeker-friendly" manner, nor in an academic tone as if to seminary students, but rather to the soul that simply needs more Jesus (that's everyone) in no matter what stage of their Christian walk. And I love how he doesn't assume everyone in the audience is a "seasoned' Christian or even saved in the first place. He doesn't even assume you know how to navigate the Bible as he guides you how to flip to book/chapter he is preaching out of. His messages will make your eyes water and fire you up at the same time. Get ready to open the floodgates (your tear ducts ) He's helped me with my walk for years now, whether I listen online or in person. Finally the music during the service is awesome. Being a musician and having played for several worship teams over the years, I don't mean that lightly. Their play a variety of worship songs, including contemporary , oldies but goodies, AND original songs they've written themselves! --which are both easy to sing and gospel-centered at the same time.

Something that would light me up inside and that I'd actually be excited to bring my whole family to. And then I found North Coast Church, and honestly? It changed everything. What I love most is that they offer so many different types of services , a Latin service, a more contemporary rock music service, a live music service, an outside service, so even though it's a large church, it never feels overwhelming or impersonal. No one is forcing anything on you, which I deeply appreciate. And Pastor Chris Brown? He is just so wonderful. North Coast is a church on a mission, and you can feel that the moment you walk in. If you are searching for a church home, please do yourself a favor and check them out. Go to a Brownie with Browns event, it's a great way to get to know the mission and the heart behind everything they do. I'm so, so glad I found them.

A helpful and kind woman named Norma gave me the contact information to the leader of the deliverance ministry. I told that person how depressed I was feeling but let them know that I was not going to hurt myself I just really needed help. She prayed with me and told me that she would schedule an appointment with me after getting with the Pastor first. After a few days of not hearing anything I reached back out again. She said that she was still waiting to hear from her Pastor and that she would let me know by 5pm. That night around 7:30pm the police show up at my door saying that the church reported me and was worried I would hurt myself. This is five days after my conversation with this woman and her team. Two weeks later and still no one has reached out willing to help me with deliverance. When I attempted to address it they did not take responsibility nor were they accountable for the lack of help they offered. I ended up having to drive down to San Diego and found a brilliant ministry called Rebuilt Ruins Ministry, which I thank God for. If anyone needs deliverance or is having depression, please do not go to or call this church. You won't receive the help you need. I also do not feel that the worship is spirit filled, so if you're looking for an awesome worship experience I would not come here for that either. I will say they have a good Life Recovery Group held on Thursdays at 6:30PM.

Pastor Hal went into great depth using the Bible and has an easy way of explaining things. He interacts with the congregation while preaching and holds your attention throughout. There appear to be many different activities the church does together during the week. Newcomers are warmly welcomed and given a gift. The pastor greets people at the door with a warm welcome. I'm new to the area and have visited a few churches. He's the only one I've seen do this and it was nice. Praise and Worship was powerful and beautiful. What I didn't like...Pastor Hal made a derogatory comment about people being fat and "from the looks of it, some of you need weight watchers." I was shocked! I couldn't believe he would say such an unkind thing. Comments like that can be incredibly harmful and hurtful. As someone who's battled an eating disorder I found it mean. I tried to take my concerns to him personally but was told he doesn't accept calls. I had to email. This proved to be futile as he stood his ground, further trying to support his position. At no time did he apologize for his unkind words. Barring the 'you're all fat' comments, I would have loved to attend again. However, I can't support FATISM. I don't tolerate isms from anyone. Jesus loves all people whether they be fat or not. Pastor Hal just hasn't received that message yet. This is an 99.999% white church. My family did not feel comfortable visiting as no one looks like them. If you're Beautifully Black you won't find anyone who looks like you. Southern California has the highest population of Deaf and HOH people in the country yet New Song does not have sign language interpreters. I don't recommend this church unless you're very, very thin and white.

Concurrently with this I saw the mission church was studying the book of Ephesians so I checked out the teaching from their website . I took a week of my bible study time to listen to their teaching . They had just finished the first chapter and started the second. The first teaching got my attention because I am from Times Square Church ,( TSC) and their motto is save the lost the refuge of society . I served in the missions ministry at TSC been to trips in Alabama serving at Adulum's house, it's a home for children whose parents are incarcerated or were born while their parents were serving a prison sentence and Texas in their Father's love ministry a Ministry that served the marginal, neglected youths in Texas showing them the the Love of the Father so the Pastor David's first sermon really caught my attention so much so that I listened to all that they did thus far. It was great , very well researched well presented . Biblically strong . I give it a 5 and considered attending there for the teaching series then I remembered I did just that 3 years ago for their Genesis series but attending didn't work out for me because I went to the Rock church one Sunday morning because I knew that they had a good prayer ministry and I needed prayer and at that time the mission church didn't have a prayer after service sort of thing sometimes they did but not all the times and a lady called Teresa who was in my home group called me I told her I was just leaving the Rock church . She called the leader of the home bible study who called me I was in the car park of Walmart picking up my prescription when he called I wasn't home yet and he told me so you attend the Rock and he dropped me from the group . I used to attend the healing rooms at the Rock church every Monday . I have one suggestion watch the movie that came out for Pentecost Sunday " " That they may be one "it's a ecumenical docudrama done by Flourish your faith films . It's about Unity of churches via the Holy Spirit . My prayer for the Mission church is that they watch that movie. I also noticed they replicate a lot of Maranatha chapel . That's the best Church I attended since I moved from NY to California and in 2020 The late pastor Ray Bentley's word for the year was Unity . I participated in that I donated mesa flour and groceries to help struggling families in mexican church and he encouraged the churches to Unite . Times Square church in the summer of 2009 . lead a 50,000 prayer meeting in Times square . people came by the thousands from all and every denomination in NY It was amazing at the time I attended TSC there were 102 nations represented in their congregation .from all strata of society of all socio economic backgrounds you could think of . Their Late Pastor William Carrol was always referred to as the "Son of TSC" . He was a homeless youth that the late pastor David Wilkinson saw had a call in His life and put him through college. He graduated with a 4.0 grade point average and was a preacher in Colorado then they called him to preach at TCS. He then ended up teaching at their Bible college Summit International. I took the time to write this so that you all can open up a bit and Unite Stand Strong in Unity . I am from another faith and it sure would be nice to see the Unity . The Church is Jesus Bride and all church has Jesus and the Holy spirit except the I think the Baptist denomination . It's the Holy Spirit that lead me to the movies at Regal downtown Oceanside to see that movie after I heard that in the future that place may be demolished it's so Iconic an Oceanside Landmark . It's one of the reasons I stayed in Oceanside and I truly love living here. Teresa asked me about that as well because I observe Leviticus chapter 23 and I also attended Ben David Messianic Jewish Congregation in Orange county . Pentecost in Hebrew is the word Shaevot . The jews celebrate it as well as the giving of the Thorah to Moses . The read the book of Ruth as well it talks about the Harvest festival. Let's create the One man as the Apostle ask us to in the book of Romans and Ephesians . I will prayer for you Teresa and Unity I guess it had more to it as well. I was going through a tough time. I left my job because I had a deep realization of the Lord . Actually all the while I was thinking of Jesus the way The Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University taught me . Not who He really is. God. I had that revelation while studying the book of Daniel on zoom with Rabbi Roy Schwarz from Chosen People ministries and I wanted to learn more and study the bible . Plus my brother was dying of brain cancer. he did die later on that year In Christ Jesus My Lord and Savior Lilian Ramcharan
