I have a 15 year old who has ADHD and ASD level one which means. He is scary smart and learns like the other kids; however, he gets in a lot of trouble at regularly school and camps because of his antics, recognizing social cues, not listening to authority when told the first time. He has been suspended and kick out of day and overnight camps and schools. My son needs structure and stability to get him going and we haven't heard one bad remark from anyone. Matthias was our go to guy that came out all the way from Missouri to California to interview my son to make sure he wanted to go and be there. I think he gets into trouble with students that don't wanna be at school or it's not very structured but this is. They have a beautiful campus and my son got top fire leader award. I'm like wow. We applaud and have the highest respect for this school that we may consider have him attending junior and senior year to help him get in good at West Point Service Academy (his dream college) as expensive as it is to send, it may very well be worth it. I would give them zero stars if I could. The school has failed to return numerous calls and emails and doesn't address my concerns. They nickle and dime you too and try to scam you out of $5000. We are suing them. They also have alcohol and vaping issues. read more

DO NOT SEND YOUR SON HERE!!!! I don't even know where to start, but this is the biggest scam and waste of money you will ever spend. Unless your son wants to go into the military and is walking into this school squeaky clean don't waste your resources. The school fails to return calls, there's ZERO emotional support for these cadets. We sent our son genuinely thinking the school would partner with us to give him some discipline and help guide him. All they do is yell, there's zero speaking into their identity to help change the behavior, and they are left feeling hopeless. Oh but he can make a bed.... That was worth the $50k annual tuition. There is ZERO supervision and I was even told that from multiple people that worked for the school. There's an obscene amount of turnover in just the 18 months my son was there which that in itself should tell you something. And my son came out with a PhD in vaping, drinking pornography,.... All things he was not doing prior to us sending him there. And I have pictures to prove it along with emails of multiple boys trying to get with other boys sexually. The stories my son has told me of what he got away with there are insane!!!! This place is an absolute disgrace. If your son needs guidance and healthy correction, this is not your school! read more

Probably like many, if not most Missouri Military Academy parents, we knew that our boy was a smart kid, and a good kid, but he didn't focus or stay on task.....and that was before COVID. We made the decision to send our son to MMA because virtual learning was a disaster. He was coming away with nothing. I mean....N-O-T-H-I-N-G. At least as bad is that he was idle during the school day much more than we were comfortable with. He needed face-to-face contact with teachers, and also with his peers, so that he could learn and grow and also so he could have fun. We have 2 daughters, including our son's twin sister, but they are generally on task all the time. Not the case with our boy. We chose MMA to get him into a structured environment where he could learn and thrive, otherwise, the school year would have been a total loss. It has definitely been a change for Robbie and for our family, but we can already see signs that he is maturing into the man we know he can become. Early on, my wife would question whether we made the right decision, but I always assured her that we did. As I have told my son many times: "I love you to pieces, but I am not your friend, I am your dad, and my job is to help you grow into a man." I am still sad sometimes when I look into his empty room, but we have him for large chunks of the year, so it's not as bad as we thought. He had a bit of homesickness at first, but after a couple of weeks, it became like a second to him. We assure him how proud we are of the progress he is making. We love the call's home, and we take the call regardless of where we are and what we are doing. He's made lots of friends, and is having fun, but he's also getting the discipline and the structure that he needs and that will hopefully follow him for the rest of his life. As for our overall assessment after a full school year, rest assured, it was a tough decision, but it was the best decision that we have ever made for our son. He tried to talk us out of it, and said that he would do better if we just kept him in his regular school, but that only worked for a day or two and then it was back to the same old stuff. Seeing him in a military uniform is awesome! The fact that he now says "Yes Sir and No Sir" and "Yes Maam and No Maam" is also a plus. Be prepared, the first few days will be tough, and he WILL be homesick, but he will settle in, and eventually when you call him, he will be laughing with his friends and won't want to have to stay on the phone, and that's a good thing! Our son's grades have gone from occasional "C"s to "D"s and "F"s to mostly "A"s and a couple of "B"s. We like the fact that EVERYBODY has to have a sport after school EVERY school day. The CLAs, who live in the barracks with the kids, are past or present soldiers, and they watch the kids and make sure that they are OK, are getting their work done and are generally moving in the right direction and getting to know everyone. The discipline and structure is very real and it works!!! If the boys don't follow instructions, they'd better enjoy running or "extra duty" because that is exactly what will happen to them. After 140 years, they know how to make it work. All in all, we have a brand new boy and he's looking forward to going back next year. read more

Notice you can't find too many negative reviews online. It's because the school is quick to get rid of them if they can. Drive by the school and watch th3 cadets outside, do they look happy to you? We attended a football last fall their and the Dean was in a kids face yelling at him. I literally saw him lecture the kid so harshly that his face was red and spit was flying out of his mouth. It was horrible to watch. I would never want my kid to ever attend a school like that. Plus being a local you see many teachers cycle through there and not one has said good things. They do make them all sign non disclosure contracts as well. What is this school hiding? Makes you wonder doesn't it? read more

Two of my brothers have attended this school in different years. While there are sometimes shenanigans in the barracks (we are dealing with high school boys here lol), I really have only great things to say about the school and that is true of my brothers and my parents. Both boys are better for having gone to the school (not that they weren't great boys already). The school always looks great. Every teacher I've ever talked with from that school impressed me. Sports are encouraged and are a big part of the community aspect. The boys always look nice. The reviews and family weekends are always beautiful and well rehearsed. And all are always very polite to us when visiting. Of course all us other kids were irritated that my parents paid that much for high school for 2 of us 8 kids (ha ha), but after seeing those two go through the school, it's very tempting to think about sending my own boys there when I have them. read more

I attended MMA for 2 years. I didn't want to go here, but it was, and is one of the best experiences of my life. I wouldn't be the man I am today had my parents not had the foresight to send me there. I just went back for homecoming, what a wonderful institution! DON'T SEND YOUR SON HERE - NOT A CHARACTER BUILDING EXPERIENCE We would STRONGLY caution anyone AGAINST sending their son to Missouri Military Academy. Our middle school-age son attended an academics camp at MMA this summer, and experienced bullying and threatening behavior from an upperclassman who, we learned, was ACTUALLY A FULL-TIME STUDENT AT THE SCHOOL! Apparently the character-building that this institution touts is not practiced by the students. We made the administration aware (more than once) of this issue, and each time they failed to resolve it. The situation escalated to pushing and tripping during sports, and culminated in an incident involving the student banging and spitting on our son's dorm room door, threatening to "kick his ass." My husband is prior military (Army Captain), as well as my father-in-law (Army Colonel), and we were profoundly disappointed by the lack of decisive action and the "boys will by boys" attitude displayed by the school's so-called leadership. This is not the standard set by our armed forces. What our son learned about character this summer is that you WON'T find it at Missouri Military Academy. read more

I attended two years 2010-2012 this school is what you make of it no one really wanted to be sent here the ones who do you can tell apart from the group lol I've made brothers here we still meet up in STL every 3 months we still stay in contact. I did poorly in this school I got expelled i didn't take it seriously I was one of the view who got sent there because I wasn't the best kid I had issues. Besides the seniors my first year everyone is understanding especially the staff they do whatever they possibly can to help you but it is a two way street like how real life is you have to put in the work to achieve no half assing did I succeed at this school? No, but I wouldn't be where I'm at today without the lessons the commanding officers gave me I now am 1 year away from my masters and I'm 22. I highly recommend it you can afford it. read more

Missouri Military Academy has been one of the greatest things that has happened to me. I am currently in my second semester of my freshman year at St. Mary's University. To be honest, MMA has definitely prepared me to succeed at St.MU. MMA's one of a kind 360 education truly educates us, today's young men, to be the best that they can be by teaching us proper etiquette, practicing physical fitness, and getting one of the best, if not, the best academic education one can get here in the United States, and the best part about it is that they have been doing it for 125+ years. My grandson has attended Missouri Military Academy for five years. He began in sixth grade, and is now a sophmore. I couldn't ask for a better, well rounded education, and character building school. He has grown into a responsible, respectable and admired cadet. I have grown to know many of the other cadets and their families. The term 360 degree education totally describes MMA, it's programs, and it's leaders. Our cadets begin as young boys, and are transformed into young men, with character, morals, integrity, respect, confidence, and respect for others and the world they live in. I went to this school for a year and a half and it was the worst time of my life. I was sent here on my 17th birthday against my will all because I failed an English class. I was never a bad kid, never did drugs, got into fights or any of that, just a kid who hated high school. I was always stressed, tired to the point where I couldn't pay attention in class, constantly harassed and was forced to join a club because I had to. My grades were the same as I got in public school because the teaching staff were a joke. I also have never heard so much racism against everyone in such a place. Their 100% college acceptance rate is only because they won't accept students they know won't graduate their senior year. This school claims to train young men to become successful adults in the future. In all honesty the only people from this school who have succeeded after graduating from here were the rich ones whose parents dumped money into this awful school and were pretty much set for life before they ever got there. Everyone else wasted $35,000 of tuition and are living normal to below average lives. This school did the opposite of what my mom thought it would do to me. All this school ever did to me was turn me into a man who hates authority and everything this school tried to turn me into. I honestly hope this school gets shut down so no one has to go through the misery that I did. read more
