This is a Diner with an extensive menu! My wife and I dined in for lunch on a Friday afternoon. Our waitress was fantastic! I ordered the chicken tenderloin sandwich with potato salad and tater tots. My wife ordered the chicken tenders with fries and a salad bar. The portions are huge!!! My wife enjoyed the chicken but the breading fell off the chicken! The tenders are homemade. The chicken tenderloin had delicious thin white meat chicken but the breading was overwhelming. The potato salad is mustard based and really good! The chunks of potatoes are a good size. The tater tots are your standard tots. The fries are basic frozen crinkle cut. The salad bar is nothing fancy just basics with French and ranch dressing. I moved out of Pekin years ago, and in recent drives through town to doctor's appointments, I noticed they were closed at their old location. Recently I was told of their new location so I googled them, and then called to verify they had the same menu. Today I was in town, and wanted to stop by after a doctors appointment for lunch. Websites had their schedule as closing at 8pm today (Wednesday 5/31/23). I walked in the door about twenty till 2pm. and was told they were closing. This place is racist. I was the only person of color in this establishment one day and, as I waited for my food after ordering I overheard one of the cooks tell the 2nd cook that he was an equal opportunist racist. The 9 to 12 other guest heard him as well and immediately looked at me. It was so uncomfortable and I was beyond offended. I told my waiter what happened and her response was "yeah I heard him too." I asked to speak to the manager/owner as I thought this was extremely unprofessional. She told me that she was out and that I could leave my number and she would call me back. Never got that call back and I even called multiple times since and still haven't heard anything from the owner. The food was trash and unseasoned. I couldn't even finish my plate out of fear that the racist cook had tampered with my food. While the customer service was a bit better than the food it was mediocre to say the least. I would not suggest this place to anyone not of the caucus race. I felt like a caged animal in a zoo from the stares, glares and, looks I received from the other diners. I have visited the Court St. location 3 times. Upon first entry, I wouldn't have know what to expect. There is too much uncoordinated decor to understand what look they're trying to establish. Floors are sticky. The menu is repetitive and honestly, confusing. Service is ok, very small town "honey, sweetie, baby"; not my favorite approach but then they don't come back I have had both lunch and breakfast here and was not impressed by either. Turkey club had ROCK HARD wheat toast on it. It physically hurt to eat and crumbled everywhere. The breakfast was undercooked & unflavored hash browns, veggies are all fresh in the omelet (canned mushrooms ). I haven't been back since last September, and wouldn't recommend the place. read more

This is a typical Pekin place. Food is greasy, restaurant is dirty & wait staff is mediocre.

We stopped here for lunch & had a nice experience. I had a tasty club sandwich w/ good quality turkey & extra crispy bacon. I got it w/ a cup of tomato veggie soup which tasted OK although it wasn't very hot. Always listen to the customers when they are talking to the waitress about food and what they love at the place. Because of a man and wife i ordered the Hot Jr.Tenderloin which come on top of a big slice of bread with the biggest helping of mashed potatoes and gravy i had ever seen on top of what i thought was suppose to be a smaller homemade tenderloin. I go to Missy's a lot with my daughter . We love the fried mushrooms because they aren't frozen... They use real big store bought mushrooms with their house batter. Basically anything fried is good. I strongly suggest not getting side eggs or pancakes..and especially not B's and G's...blan/poor quality. I don't bring friends there anymore because when the one or two waitresses get busy.... Good luck getting refills or anything at all. But if your a patient person and love fried food, it's worth it. read more

Today was probably the last time I'll go by unless I give another chance way later down the road. I went with both my sons, one hadn't been yet and the other one and I told him that it's usually pretty good. There were only two other tables inside, yet it took way over what it should have to get our food. Then as my son that had never been there was just about done with his chocolate milk, he saw a fly in it. The fly didn't show up as we ate so it must have got it prior to being served. Yes, flies get inside businesses, but chocolate you have to stir into milk you usually look at so it's just too easy to see if there is a dead fly or anything in it. For just reopening; this is just sloppy. Also, my other son's bacon was way overcooked, charred around edges. read more

My family and I went in for breakfast here, my oldest and I ordered the biscuits and gravy which in my opinion tasted very odd the sausage tasted like it was freezer burnt or just fake. My other children ordered pancakes in which they were all happy with. Our drinks were refilled once and from then on for the rest of the meal we did without even while trying to get the attention of several waitresses same with my husband's coffee . And the check turned out pretty high for the amount of food and service we were given. I don't believe we will be stopping in at Missy's again. I've eaten at Missy's twice in the last two weeks and have been impressed both times. The first time was a breakfast meal I had the 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy with 1 egg and the wife had eggs and toast. Cost was a little over $10 including drinks. The eggs were perfectly cooked and the biscuits were generously covered in gravy that had nice sized chunks of sausage. The meal was very good. The second time was a lunch meal where I had the junior tenderloin (with fries) and my companion had the hot meatloaf sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy with drinks about $18. The tenderloin sandwich was by far the star of the show. The "junior" tenderloin was a meal into itself. The sandwich was hand made and was deep fried to a golden brown. It was VERY good. I can't imagine how large the big tenderloin could have been, but a fellow diner laughed and indicated a dinner plate size with his hands. Due to the size of the sandwich, I was not able to eat many of the fries but I can say they were standard frozen crinkle cut. My companions meal was likewise large and, according to her, was also very tasty. Here's the thing with Missy's, they cater to a more modest clientele so if you are looking for a grand dining "experience" don't go there. BUT, if you are looking for a place that serves great tasting, food at reasonable prices, drop in. While you are there you should see that the staff are friendly, the coffee cups are refilled promptly and the portion size is pretty darn impressive. Both times I was there, I looked over the desert menu board and if it is accurate, oh, my God! the selection was huge which was something I didn't expect. I went here the first time after reading a review on yelp. We "yelpers" need to stick together, LOL. This place isn't great but the food is pretty good if you are looking for diner food. Gave two stars because they are very friendly otherwise would have been just one Husband and I both ordered tenderloins which they are supposed to be famous for. I ordered mine as the dinner with gravy on the side and French fries. The gravy was served in a large plastic cereal looking bowl. Yuck! Largest side of gravy I have ever seen. Wondering if it was the last of the on or something and they needed to get rid of it. I was literally probably 3 cups of gravy...the brown instant type. Dipped my spoon in to try it, that's all I needed of that. Fries were under cooked and super greasy. The mayonnaise that was served with the tenderloin was very flavorless and generic tasting. We also had a kiddo with us she had grilled cheese and cottage cheese. She enjoyed hers but how does one mess either of those up? We were waiting for the waitress to come back as we wanted to order a piece of pie but she never came back over after waiting quite a while. Stopped for lunch with my son on Thursday. Food was okay but the staff was not desirable. We could hear a women yelling at staff members about unacceptable work and work effort. A waitress reached across our table of food to get the sugar and cream bowls then reached across again to put them back. When we paid there wasn't any emotion from the cashier at all. First time ever dining here. The service is superb and the food was excellent. I highly recommend the horseshoe breakfast. A plate full of food including a biscuit, American fries, meat and eggs all smothered with gravy. I added cheese to mine and it did not disappoint! I will never step foot into this establishment EVER again. I had one of the worst experiences of my life at this place. The food was mediocre, the service was below average and, the two cooks felts as if it was ok to carry on a racist conversation while the dinning guests could hear them. I was shock and appalled to hear one of the cooks tell another that he was "an equal opportunity racist." I couldn't believe I was hearing that type of language in a public place. I was offended, hurt, uncomfortable and, upset that none of the other employees asked the two cooks to stop having that type of conversation in front of guests. I paid for my meal and left immediately. When I got in my car I was even more upset that I didn't say anything so I called in to speak with the manager. She wasn't there so I told the person on the phone to let the owner know that it's not right for her cooks to talk like that at a public establishment. The woman on the phone brushed me off and said she'll let the owner know. By the tone of her voice I knew she wouldn't relay the message. This place needs to be shut down. read more
