SUPER OVERPRICED!! Their technician was very nice, thorough, and did a full inspection, but THEN... the scare tactics of "this already shows damage"; "once one Arc breaker fails, they all go quickly"; yada yada. They don't give an itemized invoice, but a lump sum as there is NO way they could justify their incredibly over-inflated prices. They were already overpriced and the service is only par. They scheduled me six week out for service and then cancelled on me an hour and a half after they were expected. They are unreliable, inconsistent and unprofessional. I would advise not hiring them. read more

This company will not return calls. My 90yo mother called Mister sparky to replace a couple GFCI receptacles that were bad. (I had her test them while I was on the phone, 2 didn't reset, unfortunately I live almost 6 hours away so not able to just pop over and replace these $20/piece GFCI receptacles). She called on a Monday morning and a technician was there around 10am. He replaced 3 GFCI receptacles and also 3 af breakers. Done a little after noon so a little over 2 hours work plus parts. Af breakers are around $35 each while GFCI receptacles are $20 each and less. Total parts would be let's say $175-$200 to be generous. So I talk to my 90 year old mother with a little bit of dementia going on the next day and ask her how the electrician went and how much did they charge. She told me everything went fine, her electric is working again and that her bill was $1588. I was floored! This guy charged by the device, $200+ for each GFCI times 3, $300+ for each breaker times 3. Now maybe I'm not up with the times as to how electrical repair shops charge everywhere but from where I live $120 an hour is on the high end plus a $50-75 call charge. This guy made $1300 or $650 an hour off of my 90yo mother. I call that preying on old people, call it what you will, it's totally taking advantage of someone who doesn't know any better. I should have had her call me when the guy was there and tell him to take a hike when he told her how much it would be but I figured that any reputable electrician would charge her maybe a couple hundred bucks to swap out a few gfci's. I'm not sure exactly why he replaced the breakers, maybe a code thing to bring box up to new code idk for sure. Either way, Mister Sparky would not return my calls after leaving my number with the secretary several times to have the electrician call me to go over the bill. Web search shows this company is screwing everybody around the states they are in with super high prices. Avoid at all costs!!! To be a little fair, Mom got a Mr sparky guy from Lowell. But it looks like all Mr sparkys run the same M.O. so hire a fairly priced electrician, anyone other than a Mr Sparky. read more

Please be very cautious when using Mr. Sparky. The person who comes out to give estimates works on commission thus he wants to charge as much as possible. I found them to be dishonest and untrustworthy. Recently gave a quote and used words like "illegal" for items that were not up to current codes. But it is an older home and is not required to be up to current codes. They use words like "illegal" to scare people into making costly repairs that are not needed. I had another electrician come out and check my house. I was told he could rewire my entire house twice for the amount Mr. Sparky quoted to fix minor issues. DISHONEST!!! read more

I can't even say how much to avoid this company. The technician was very polite and professional BUT when I got a quote of $800 to install 3 light fixtures, umm...we have a problem. They charge a $79 "dispatch" fee to come out which I had misunderstood- thought that was just a minimum service charge (which is normal) if you decide to use them but $79 just to come out and give a quote that is SO ridiculously overpriced I seriously couldn't believe it- kept questioning the quote! I truly don't see how they stay in business- I refused to pay the "dispatch" charge- it is unbelievable. I will go back to a company who charges a normal per hour fee thank you. Way overpriced- beware! Quote was so much more than other electricians.

The technician was polite and seemed to know what he was doing (how would I know?). The problem was that there was a very high pressured sales approach and the prices were the highest I have ever seen. He wanted to add on a trip to Lowe's even though I was told that the truck was very well stocked and a bunch of other unnecessary work. He seemed to spend more than half the time coming up with added needs for our house - all that exploration is stated as "free" but it absolutely is not. We used Mister Sparky once in the past without incident. If I were to base my rating on that experience, I'd probably give them 4-5 stars. However, my husband and I contacted Mister Sparky a few weeks ago to investigate a faulty outlet. They set up an appointment, called the night before to confirm, but failed to show up. They called during the middle of our scheduled time to say they had overbooked and rescheduled for the following week. Once again, they called the night before to confirm, but called during the scheduled time to cancel due to an another overbooking situation. It's very frustrating that this happened twice, especially because we took off of work to be at home. I'm in the process of looking for a new electrician. Do NOT use Mister Sparky if you're looking for an on-time, trustworthy electrician. read more

Beware! Do not let Mr Sharky in your house. Over 800.00 to replace 1 GFI, 3 duplex outlets & 1 15 amp breaker. You should be ashamed to prey on elderly fixed income folks!!! Do NOT use this company. We were caught in a bind and needed immediate service so we found Mr. Sparky on the internet. The technician, Brad, was polite and helpful. He quoted the cost before the work began and like a fool I signed the agreement. After he left I saw the cost on line of the lightning damaged gcfi breaker was about $100. They charged me $506 dollars for the breaker. Then I saw the day of the installation that Mr. Sparky was giving a $50 rebate on ALL jobs. I phoned and asked for the rebate and they told me that I should have told the technician when he billed me that I wanted the rebate! So I was told unfortunately it was too late at this point to receive the discount as promised by there TV ad. Its too late for me, but not for you. Do NOT use this company. read more
