BLUF: our experienced in Mash what seems to be that of many, so maybe I caught them on a bad day Six of us stopped here for a late lunch on a Saturday. The staff was friendly and got a seated as quickly as possible and it was the busiest time of the day so the wait wasn't really surprising Unfortunately it didn't really get better. Again the staff was always friendly, but the food took forever to come out and when it did come out it was not very satisfying. The chicken wrap was very scant on meat and fillings and the pizza was relatively flavorless and undercooked. The one standout was the French fries which were delicious. It's nice because this is right on the water and convenient if you're out boating, and the outdoor seating area is nice. One of my favorite laid back spots on the Lake!! The manager has made my experience each time, he goes out of his way to make the customer happy. The staff is hard working and always very kind even when they are slammed. We love coming here and grabbing drinks as soon as we get to the lake. When we do order food we love to get the pizza, buffalo chicken dip or nachos. They generally have a fun and lively band. It can get super busy, so if you don't have patience, this is not the spot for you. Would absolutely recommend this local spot!! read more

There was a group of four of us. Two got the burgers which were overcooked and did not taste great (mushroom swiss and BBQ). One got the turkey club which was very mediocre, the lunch meats were not of great quality and there was nothing special about it, likewise for the Italian sub. The chili cheese fries we had as an appetizer with ranch were good but there again, nothing special. If you're spending the day on the lake it would be a good place to dock your boat and get something to eat but if you are coming by car, there are better places to eat. With 7+ servers and with open tables we sat at table for 20 minutes no service at all - poorly managed dining room - set a timer waited 20 minutes, no acknowledgement by anyone that we were even there and then we flagged the hostess and got sorry we are busy they had 5 open tables. read more

Heard it was good so stopped in for dinner on a Wednesday around 6. 8 of us were seated quickly. Service was fine and attended to our needs well enough but it was downhill from there. The food was just plain bad. The biggest problem was that they were out of ranch. No big deal normally except she didn't tell us until our food came out. So we were all left to deal with it. I ordered 6 wings, which I wouldn't have done if id have known about the no ranch issue since that's all I eat on my wings. They only had blue cheese so my husband ate 3 as he's ok with blue cheese. My daughter ordered a salad with ranch and the waitress brought her Caesar dressing and then said 'oh is that ok, we're out of ranch'. Look if you're out of ranch, no big deal, but that's just bad management that your waitress has no idea because you have a table who ordered 3 things with ranch which we would've completely changed the order if they had just told us that up front. When we were finishing up, I told our waitress that I'd appreciate if they'd not charge us for the wings as I wouldn't have ordered them If I had known you didn't have ranch The waitress returned & said that the manager told her since 3 of the wings were eaten they would give us a 50% discount on them. I didn't bother to mention my daughter's salad or the other meal that we had wanted ranch for, But that was just bad management & customer service. Also, when we ordered drinks, hubby ordered a beer on tap. They were out of it. Sometimes asked for a Prosecco. It was out. Another asked for a Sauvignon Blanc. It was out. The cheese pizza was awful - scant cheese, which they overcooked and incredibly thin & greasy, My kids didn't like it at all so I tasted it and it was nasty. My husband's brisket sandwich was a room temp bun with three slices of overcooked brisket. Nothing else - no au jus or BBQ sauce, My husband said it was dry and boring. Maybe they expect people to put ketchup on it!??! Ick Won't go back. Whoever is running the place needs to take a customer service 101 course and apparently explore restaurant mgmt school given all they were out of so many things. read more

A laid-back place clearly beloved by the locals. On the plus side, the covered patio has a nice view of the lake, and they had life music. The food is quite basic but not exactly cheap and mostly assembled from pre-packaged ingredients, although the pizza is quite good. The drink menu is not printed- instead there is a QR code which gives you a simple listing without any details or even prices!!! I was disappointed in my Have A Day Tequila Cocktail - just a can of commercial spiked seltzer. But there is some beer on tap which is definitely better. read more

The service was very kind and prompt. You have the option of various canned beverages. I would look at this as a concession stand style food, but with waiters. I got chicken tenders and fries, with a twisted tea. They were so-so. The live music was far too loud. We were packed in the pavilion like sardines. My father in law thinks the crab sandwich he got gave him food poisoning as he was the only one to get sick that night. Overall probably not a stop I would make again. read more

This was our first time at SML and Mitchells's was the closest waterfront restaurant (plus had the boat rental company on the same property) to the house we rented for the weekend. The menu has a nice variety which included typical lake/waterfront eats. I had the fish sandwich and it was really good. The side of fries had a sweetness to it that I couldn't quite put my tastebuds on so can't say I was a fan of them. The Caesar salad with grilled chicken was spot on for my daughter. The fried seafood platter was also a winner in our group. Staff was friendly and courteous. They have outdoor seating which filled up within an hour of opening for lunch so be prepared if coming with a group, especially if you're coming by boat because the slips fill up quickly too. We didn't get dessert here but there's also an ice cream shack nearby and can't be missed! We will definitely go back! read more

Picturesque views of the lake and inside an RV park! So cool! The staff is extremely welcoming and service was prompt. All of the food ordered was fresh and delicious!! We're here on vacation and other restaurants have been sub-par. Mitchell's popped up as a nearby restaurant and we figured, why not. It's definitely exceeded any expectation we may have had. Found Mitchell's through Yelp when staying at another part of SML. My young son and I arrived just before 5:30 on a Friday. Ample parking when we got there and we were seated right away. They snagged a tall chair with a back for my son since there were tall stools where we were seated. Service was great, friendly and efficient. We had the pepper Jack bites and a small pizza. Delicious. We brought home half the pizza and the price was fair. It's a very casual place, with many patrons coming right from their boat. We were overlooking the lake and the live band started right as we were wrapping up our meal. Walked right across the lot to have ice cream on the shore. Mitchell's has been one of a few Marinas on the lake that we have fueled our boat up at over the last 25+ years. I remember getting so excited as a kid to go with my Dad to fill up because he always got us an ice cream bar from their cooler! I don't know if they still have that cooler, but I was thrilled to see their outdoor bar and dining area for the first time on our last visit! They had live entertainment while we were there and a nice banner to advertise the artists that would be playing all summer long. I ordered a small pizza with sausage, jalapeños, banana peppers, and onions and it was great. It was a thin crust style pizza and it was cooked well. My significant other ordered the lobster salad roll and he enjoyed it but it did feel like something was missing from his plate. (Fries, chips, or a pickle maybe?) All-in-all, not a bad spot to fuel up, grab a bite, or hang out with friends! By land or sea, Mitchell's is about 15-20 minutes from Mariners Landing. read more

When you wait this long, you'd think anything would taste good, but "my chicken sandwich had no soul" is about the nicest thing we could say. The emboldened tiki face icon in bright red font on certain menu items would lead you to believe that they were signature items or something of the sort. We all approached the menu with several different tactics. Tiki menu items, classics like the quesadilla and wings (that you really can't mess up) and side salads. Well, while everything was edible, it was lackluster or mediocre at best. Tiki-items included. Was our waitress great? Yes she was. Did we walk away with seven small sides of condiments? Of course we did. The bathrooms were BOTH out of order so we were all pointed to the porto-potties on a slanted hill. Not even close to an ideal bathroom experience. I had to bring my mom along just so I wouldn't fall in (mind you, I'm extremely pregnant...if that tells you anything more about this experience). Incredibly frustrating and unprofessional!!! Arrived at Smith Mountain Lake after a long drive, starving family and found multiple places suggesting Mitchell's-- good Yelp reviews and everything. Tried to call and they stated they were open , mailbox full ( what????) and tried for 20 minutes so we figured they were too busy to answer the phone. Yelp and website also said they were open. Drove there and THEY WERE CLOSED!!!! Looked they were done for the season. No update in phone or in Yelp??? Amateur and ridiculous!!! Obviously they do not care or value their customers. read more

We enjoyed dinner two nights while here at the lake and everything was delicious! Our burgers were juicy and flavorful along with a nice bun that held its shape and texture to the juiciness of the burgers. The following night we had pizza and I must say we were pleasantly surprised at how delicious the pizza was. I am VERY picky when it comes to pizza, I am from up north and I must say they nailed their homemade crust, perfectly chewy, soft, and crisp. The lake views, live music on Saturday, and friendly staff also made our experience enjoyable! We will be visiting Mitchell's many more times to come! read more

Unfortunately after spending hundreds of dollars on a boat rental, upon return we wanted to eat at Mitchels. However, due to only having a party of 4, the two parties of 6 behind us prompted the hostess to tell us she could not seat us in the open tables since they sit 6 not 4. We were told we had to wait while she sat the other parties behind us. Needless to say, we did not wait and can honestly review this as a 1 star based on hospitality alone. read more

10 minutes before we even had someone approach us to seat us. Once seated another 20 minutes before a waitress asked if we had been helped. Once she brought the menus we ordered right away. Nothing special, sandwiches and only waters. After another 30 minutes my husband had to go inside and ask for our waters. Then she proceeded to bring the food out without the waters. My food was cold and greasy gross, I only ate half of it. My husbands food was at least warm. I am guessing his food was served to someone else so mine sat there while they remade his. No silverware, no check backs, no drink refills. I went in to pay the bill, no apologies. Do not waste your time or money. We got there at 12:45 and left at 1:59. read more

Great place for lunch or dinner after being on a boat all day. I had a grilled chicken sandwich with French fries. Both of which had a great quality to them. Sitting outside can have an intense sunlight amount depending upon the time of day. I took away a star because the service was much to be desired. Two of the six of the people at our table got their food and the remaining 4 had to wait at lest 10 more minutes. I understand things happen but apologizing about it would have made things a bit better in my mind. Overall, I'd go back read more
