Mitten Sweets & Coffee is a cute neighborhood bakery near Capitol Hill. The bakery features a cozy aesthetic, creative pastries, and kind staff. We enjoyed the ube tart and the hojicha dark chocolate, and appreciated the complimentary sample included with our order. Seating inside is limited, as is street parking nearby. Their Instagram page is also pretty and worth a look.

Really small but super cute shop! Lots of super yummy looking pastries. We stopped for a wuick pick me up after playing tennis at the courts right across the street and got a paris brest (good cream, good choux) and a hojicha chocolate. I looooove hojicha so naturally I really liked the hojicha chocolate a deep, rich, and so warm and soothing.

Always friendly and helpful customer service. I can't help but always get the Shikuwasa soda when I visit. Grabbed a late lunch yesterday before an event tried the salmon quiche the arugula salad was a nice surprise I thought I was only going to get a slice of quiche. was delicious and just what I needed. Limited indoor seating with a few stools at counters. They do have a couple tables outside you can enjoy your treats at. Always enjoy stopping by when I'm near. Also picked up a warabi mochi and a hojicha tiramisu for a friend

This is a small Asian dessert cafe with a variety of drinks and desserts. Indoor has 3 sections of seatings, and outdoor has 2 tables. The service is great and I enjoy their drinks and desserts. It's one of the best dessert places I like to go in the area, my personal favorites are the cake slices in boxes.

I've gotten several things here, including two birthday cakes, and every single item I have gotten here has been an absolute delight. The cream puffs are my go-to, the chocolate gateau is a decadent treat, and I cannot foresee myself wanting a birthday cake from anywhere else ever again. The storefront itself is a small, but airy, and well decorated place. There are a few tables out front, and a few seats indoors. I've generally gotten my goodies to go, and they have held up fine, even if not eaten until hours later (which is probably not what they recommend). The staff have been very friendly every time I've gone. It is a pricey treat, not an every-day place to stop, although I would love it if I was in a situation to make this an everyday stop. The taste and textures of their goodies, and the friendly staff, absolutely make up for the price in my opinion, but I'd rather pay more for excellent pastries, than pay less for mediocre ones.

Service was wonderful!!!! Thoughtful ppl working there. Food is excellent! It's Japanese style. It's not too sweet. Very crafty and beautiful presentation. Price bit expensive but it worth every penny you spend here! Ambience is calm and peaceful. It reminds me my hometown cafe. Will go back 100%!!!!!!

I REALLY wanted to like this place, but I really got SO many items and all but one were a complete miss for me. What makes that extra sad is that the items here are extremely pricy and I just think a bad product at that price is a real bummer. Black Sesame Cube Donut (1.75/5): This isn't a donut; it's a dense, dry muffin, not a fluffy dough at all. The black sesame inside is a grainy paste baked in rather than a cream. Flavor is fine, but misleading and not the best mouthfeel. Vanilla Cream Puff (2.75/5): The shell I got was stale in spite of the fact that they fill it to order, which is a real shame because the cream inside has a fantastic, luscious texture and strong vanilla flavor. On top of that, it's 8 bucks and just made me wish I had Beard Papa's instead. Yuzu Cheesecake (4/5): Best item I tried: great tart flavor, but I actually wish there was more cheese flavor or even just creaminess in it. Super smooth all the way through and melt in your mouth. Kyoto (1.75/5): The flavors aren't bad, but the textures are ROUGH. Insanely dense, dry cake with ganache so thick it's a brick. This is just not my favorite. Acceptable with tea. Hojicha Financier (0.5/5): I love financiers and this was SOOO DRY. Like genuinely chewing sand in a block shape.

Quick service. Was impressed with the offerings. Yuzu flavor paired well with the chocolate and the shikawasa soda was unique yet pleasant.

Absolutely enjoyed our quick stop at Mitten! It is such a quaint and lovely little place for sweets filled with Japanese flavors. Everything looked so appealing but we had to settle on a select few. Our favorites were the Chestnut Cake and Koto (hojicha cake). They are packed with flavor. Aside from their unique flavored sweets, they also do custom whole cakes which would make for a lovely treat for any event or party. We are looking to come back another time to satisfy our sweet tooth!

I thought Mitten Sweets was going to be bakery that specializes in baked goods from the mitten shaped state-of-the-Michigan... I wasn't disappointed though. An Asian inspired little bakery that makes incredible tarts, cakes and things! As it is asian inspired none of the things are overly sweet. My favorite standard item is the ube tart! Just enough sweetness without going overboard. Today, also tried the orange tart and it was also amazing! I have not tried the coffee here but they sell beans from Cambria roasters which is one of my favorites. The location itself is in an out of the way place, tucked away next to the Seattle U. Athletics fields so its easy to miss! Check them out!

I LOVE Mittens! It's been such a great addition to the central area. The yuzu lemon cake is my absolute favorite (I'm biased towards citrus flavors)! Don't miss out on their Father's Day box this weekend! Features: Seattle cake (espresso & orange), pistachio financier, caramel nut tart and more. We stopped by a few days ago and my husband was hesitant at first because there were a lot of items we hadn't tried and he didn't think he would enjoy it, but guess what? The caramel nut tart and passion fruit marshmallow turned out to be his favorites! It's fun to pick out a treat to try each day. The caramel coffee jelly was speaking to me this time and I'm so glad I finally tried it. If you love caramel coffee drinks, you should definitely try this!

I visited again recently and am still such a fan! They have more food offerings than the last time I visited and also some different drinks too that appear to change seasonally! We had a caramel coffee jelly drink which was so good! Not too sweet (the caramel balanced well with the coffee jelly). I had the Koto last time (hojicha) so this time opted for the Kyoto -- same thing but strawberry matcha flavor. Sooo good! We also got the warabi mochi which was enjoyable as well. They've made some improvements to the interior to make it a bit more comfortable/home-y) which is nice! I still need to order a cake from here. Kind of glad this isn't closer to me or I'd be here every day!

The croissant was on the crispier side, especially with the almond crumble on top it was a bit too cripsy for me, but I tend to like soft and flakey pastries so it's probably a matter of taste. There was a TON of almond filling in the middle. I enjoyed the taste and texture but it was too much filling for me personally. I would have liked more croissant in my croissant, so to say haha. The chocolate was slightly dark which worked well with the sweet pastry and filling! Overall I enjoyed the croissant but it was a tad too heavy on the filling and cripsy/crunchy for me.

Larger but still great…read more La Parisienne has become a tradition when I visit Seattle. Imagine my surprise when I walked to the old door and didn't find the same welcoming space. Instead, at the end of the block I found a long line that I had to enter. The food is still great, but some of the personal touch feels missing, it feels a lot more like you're visiting a corporate cafe than a neighborhood spot. I am not saying that the staff working the tables is bad at all, it is just not the same without the manager/owner chatting with you after she serves your coffee and seeing how everything is. Or when you hear them speaking amongst each other in French, making it easy to feel as if you're a continent away. I'll keep coming back, I just miss the old feel.

However, my second visit after the renovation felt different from the first one. I came for lunch, and the atmosphere had changed: there was no music, almost no people, and the space felt very quiet and empty. The old La Parisienne was smaller, cozier, and always had a lively French vibe with music and energy. For me, some of that atmosphere and soul feels lost after the expansion. It's always difficult to balance growth and modernization while keeping the original authenticity that made a place special.

They have so many yummy options, but I settled on a mushroom and Gruyère pastry and an earl grey blueberry cruffin. The mushroom and Gruyère pastry was SO good!!! This is the version I had. It's fantastic. The first thing that stands out is the amazing crunch from the cornflakes on the breading. Compared to similar versions of this food I've had - the doughnut is always soft on the outside. And this can be quite enjoyable, but when there's a textural contrast coming from the outside, it just elevates it to a whole another level. The individual cornflakes as well as the entire outside is breaded perfectly. Biting into this is such a satisfying experience. The inside is also quite good. There weren't any other customers inside and we were greeted with an empty display case in the front. While barren, the owner, a gruff* French gentlemen, confirmed that he still had choux pastry left with a choice of either vanilla, coconut, pistachio, or hazelnut. We decided to go with the pistachio, which he assembled fresh for us, first by piping pistachio cream inside the choux shell, then dipping in melted chocolate and sprinkling pistachio on top. Pistachio Choux ($6) - The choux is excellent, baked until deliciously crisp on the exterior while the inside remains soft, eggy, and tender. Since it's fresh filled and we ate it right afterwards, the cream never migrated to saturate the crust - I suspect people with issues with mushiness probably let the cream puff sit too long before consuming. The cream, which is piped to the brim, pushes out against the delicate shell, causing each bite to almost squirt out a bit of the luscious, silky whipped custard. The cream coats the lips and mouth with a layer of fat. It's not too sweet and has a light nutty pistachio flavor. The melted chocolate the top is dipped into glues on all of the pistachio dip. The chocolate is slightly bitter, yet sweet, so it helps cut through some of the rich silkiness of the cream. The pistachios on top act like a crumble, perhaps pulverized and melded with butter to create a very rich yet pistachio forward mix. It's strongly flavored, and the chocolate creates such a strong cement that none of the nuts detach while eating. (5/5) Panterelli was a huge surprise as it wasn't even on our radar until we walked past the shop randomly while exploring the Farmers Market. It's a definite revisit in the future! *The owner isn't nearly as welcoming as a typical American small business owner, but is certainly friendly and eager to chat.
