Cafe style ordering, need to know since no sign on how to order or where at. Price was way to expensive for what we ate. I had two eggs anyway. With what I think may have been microwave bacon, frozen sausage patties, over medium eggs (basic), and the bright spot of the plate, hash browns. She got some of the French toast, I'd go with these if u went here. Still not great. Just pick a different breakfast spot actually. Was asked if we'd like coffee, we said water would be fine. When we sat down we realized the silverware and drinks were up by the counter....I think you help yourself, we did. When I looked at the pics I thought I would be going to a cool little restaurant. Actually, they near the square downtown next to Diablo Burger. It is a kind of cafeteria style restaurant inside what is an indoor shopping plaza. I like that it is fast. Order and then they bring your food. Kind of like Sauce. It's definitely a college student stule eatery. The food was okay. I got the Banana Nut Rum Stack. As I bit into the pancakes, there evidence of mucho amounts of brown sugar because it crunched in my teeth. Wow! If you have a sweet tooth, this for you! There were sliced bananas on top as this was a play on bananas foster. The pancakes were drowned in the sauce. It just depends on your fancy. For me this was too much. The pancakes came with your choice of two sides, to which I chose an egg and the breakfast potatoes. The potatoes had red and green peppers and onions and were generously seasoned. I enjoyed about half of them because they were still a little undercooked. All in all, if you are looking for breakfast and quick you are safe here but you may not get exactly what you hoped for. read more

This place has AMAZING food!!! Based on other yelpers reviews we stopped in for breakfast on our way to Sedona. This place has AMAZING food. My 11 year old and 14 year old LOVED it and they are hard to please. I got the vegan scramble, my oldest ordered the biscuits and gravy, my youngest ordered eggs and toast and my mom order the blueberry pancakes. All of it was so delicious and fresh. The fruit wasn't out of a jar it was fresh cut. The staff was super friendly and the food was hot and didn't take long. Coffee was great too! It was a little hard to find but we stopped and asked a neighboring shop owner who knew exactly where it was. Chris stopped by a few times to make sure everything was going good. My husband and I had lunch at Mix. We decided to share a lunch. And so we split a tuna melt sandwich and half a bowl of cauliflower soup. The tuna was great. It had melted cheddar cheese served on a hearty wheat grain bread with mix lettuce, alfalfa sprouts, tomatoes and a crunchy dill pickle on the side. You also got a bag of potato chips with your meal. The atmosphere was inviting, it was set inside a colorful indoor shopping center. You could watch the shoppers. I ordered the mamas cheese eggs, you could get it as as a sandwich, a burrito,an omelette, or scrambled. I had it scrambled but after seeing the omelette I would have ordered that. Stopped by for a quick breakfast before heading out of town. There was a bit of a line, but we were greeted with a smile and a menu intro since it was our first time. Tried the carrot pancakes, house potatoes and bacon-- with Mocha Latte. Hubby had the French toast, hash browns and fruit-- with Reg Latte. I really like the pancakes. They were fluffy and flavorful-- but not too sweet. Potatoes were better than the hash browns and the fruit was surprisingly fresh. Hubby liked his French toast because the top had some crunchy parts. The mocha latte was a winner too. The only thing I didn't like was the coffee bar area. I wanted to order coffee first so that I can drink it while I waited in the food line. Unfortunately, the barista was way too busy to take my order. Went here for the pancakes because the description sounded amazing and the reviews were good. I guess you can't always trust Yelp since a lot of the reviews have to do with atmosphere or how funky/hipstery a place is or how much they cater to a person's specialty diet. Basically, I got some oddly flat pancakes that didn't really have the "fluffy" texture that I'm used to. Maybe I accidentally got some weird gluten free pancakes? Who knows. It was disappointing. The strawberries were good though so I ate most of those. Husband got an egg scramble with a bunch of ingredients involved and while it looked good on paper, it was just kinda eh. Seemed like the veggies were tossed in too early so the eggs just kind of coated everything in a weird mass, rather than fluffy eggs scrambled with some veggies tossed in among them. Overall I don't think I'd go back, just because I like my food a little more traditionally prepared. The inside was very nice and clean. No complaints about staff or other patrons. read more

I had breakfast here this morning, as I usually do when I visit Flagstaff. This is the best breakfast place for us gluten free folks!! I Loved the banana buttered rum short stack. So delicious! You do have to pay for parking downtown now, but Mix gives you a $1 discount on your meal, so it balances out a bit. If you must be gluten free like me, definitely give this place a chance. Cute set up with lots of shopping at the coffee shop itself. We tried their new honey lavender latte (they called it something else, but those were the flavors; we ordered with oat/almond milk). The menu isn't vast but has enough options to make just about everyone happy. The owner was kind and helpful. The staff were respectful and hardworking. Prices were fair. We also ordered the tofu scramble and hash brown breakfast. So the food is pre-made and packaged in their kitchen, then you pick up a box from the frig and ask them to warm it for you upon paying. This process makes it a bit less fresh, but still yummy. Giving 4/5 stars only because the tofu scramble and hash browns were a small portion for $10 and could have used a lot more veggies in the tofu scramble. Like onion, mushroom, tomatoes, even bell peppers. Probably vegans/vegetarians are the ones buying this tofu scramble breakfast... most like veggies; give us the veggies. I stopped by Mix on a recent trip through Flagstaff, since I had gone to one or two restaurants in this area before. Mix is in the old parking garage with some other trendy shops and restaurants, and in general it's a good area to spend an afternoon. As for Mix itself: I visited during the $2 mimosa special which perhaps made the experience, and I ordered the strawberry pancakes. The pancakes were very good, the bacon well done, and the mimosa was certainly worth $2. I have no real complaints about the food, but it was also fairly typical of a brunch spot. The staff were attentive but with even a moderate crowd they seemed to be having a hard time keeping up, resulting in a long wait in line to order. They did get the food out pretty quickly, though. They seemed to be understaffed as there was no one manning the bar, and condiments were oddly hard to come by. Parking in this area is a bit of a pain - there's an underground parking garage nearby that is convenient but a bit expensive. Not Mix's fault at all but something to be aware of. Overall, this is a solid brunch spot, but perhaps suffers a bit from its own popularity. read more

Was in Flag, heading from Wyoming back to Tucson, and wanted a place that could cater to my vegan appetite. Tired of potatoes, bean burritos, etc... I headed into MIX. Very cool atmosphere, a bit worn, but that's to be expected. It isn't a brand new restaurant, after all. The employees I interacted with were personable and pleasurable. I ordered the tofu scramble (I forget their moniker for it) with gluten-free toast and a side of breakfast potatoes. The toast had a nice char on it as well as good crunch, without being stale--which made it my favorite piece of the meal. Don't get me wrong, the other two parts were great... the only criticisms I have are that the scramble was watery and one-toned, and the potatoes (while tasty) were a bit greasy due to having been cooked in olive oil. I'd probably recommend grapeseed oil for fry/high temp cooking. Lastly, I got an Americano. Very good, and they even had almond milk alongside generic soy! I enjoyed that. That alone boosts this from three to four stars, I appreciate small accommodations like that. My only qualm was that they had no stevia-based sweeteners, just chemical (generic Splenda, Sweet n' Low, et.), but that's just me being a picky bastard. d; I'd recommend this place to a friend, for sure. read more

Initially discarded this place as an option because it looked trendy and expensive. But there aren't many breakfast options in downtown Flagstaff. After further investigation, decided to give it a try. Was pleasantly surprised to find reasonable prices and generous portions. The biscuits and gravy were $9 and change after tax. Came with two eggs and a choice of sides. I picked hash browns and bacon. The hash browns were an enormous serving and nicely crispy. The bacon was slightly crisp without shattering. Got two biscuits in an interesting bacon or ham (not sausage) gravy. The gravy was very tasty and the biscuits were fluffy and had just a bit of a crispy crust on the outside. One of the best breakfasts I've ever had. Watching the other diners' choices coming out of the kitchen, they all looked good and were also generously sized. Then after i am forced to order lunch, he tells me there will be a 25 min wait for my To Go order. Are you kidding me?? So much for a quick grab to eat on the road. There is literally nothing on the menu that isn't perfection. AND they have a rotating menu with daily specials. Seriously, why you'd bother going anywhere else to eat in the city is beyond me. My girlfriend and I visited on our way up to the Grand Canyon, and we ended up coming here like... 3 or 4 times that trip. It's that good. Their soups are all to die for - and they're all made from scratch! If you can't decide from the menu cuz they all sound so delicious, no problem! Ask for a sample and they'll be more than happy to dollop a mini cup for you to try! I recommend trying their Cranberry Bleu Cheese Wedge salad (Tuesday) + their Sweet Potato Bisque & Clam Chowder (Friday) from their daily specials menu. Both their Tomato Basil and their Chicken & Rice soups (daily) are really good too, PLUS, they have the option of putting it in a sourdough bread bowl! If you're there for breakfast, go with their Deep Dish Baked French Toast and Banana Nut Rum Stack. For something savory, I personally enjoyed their Two Egg Simple Breakfast, which, while simple, is completely loaded with food. Definitely enough to make you want to go back to bed after you're finished. I've often considered driving back to Flagstaff from Austin, TX just to eat here again. We WERE going to eat here, but we just saw the dude behind the counter break all kinds of general sanitation guidelines. In 2 minutes we saw him: -rub his face and hair all over, with bare hands -then, change out a pan of mandarin oranges by teaching down into the pan with his bare hands and out them into a new pan -then, bring out a bunch of new serving spoons, carrying them not by the plastic handles, but by grasping the scoop with those magical bare hands. We will pass. I work in food service back in California, and none of that would fly (are rules different here in AZ?). The staff is friendly, and I love the atmosphere. That's about all this restaurant has going for it. In theory, the menu looks stellar but the food just isn't up to par. I got a caesar salad and the dressing seemed more like a vinegary dressing than a creamy caesar dressing. Also, the element to a good caesar salad is that the croutons are nicely coated with the dressing... Here it seems the croutons were added as an afterthought. The loaded baked potato soup was sub-par. I've definitely had better. Go to this place if you want bland cookie-cutter food with no real personality whatsoever. We had the veggie omelette and the banana rum not pancakes. We shared both entrees and had the hashbrowns on the side with fruit. Went for lunch and way let down. The tomato soup was burnt. We told the server and her reaction was "sorry". The Cesar salad was very basic. My BLT was decent but way to small. $38 bucks for 3 for lunch you expect a little more quality. Guess we must have caught it on a bad day considering the other reviews.
