Beef patty bacon egg and cheese
    Taylor D.

I visited here for brunch and the food was pretty good. It was NY/ Caribbean inspired. I really liked the beef patty bacon egg and cheese it was very tasty. The food came out pretty quickly and the vibes were good. The music was a little loud for small establishment but overall a good time.

Celebrating Black History Month by supporting Black owned businesses! Join me! In my quest to support Black excellence, I found the dopest bar in Adams Morgan! It's: Black owned Black woman owned A fellow New Yorker making a dream come through in D.C. Shoutout to Josh, he gave us the rich history of this place starting with the origins of the juice bar in NY. Alina, the owner, was not present but we were excited to learn the purpose behind this spot and how she is serving authentic style NYC classics (loading later). She is also committed to providing fresh and healthy food to the community and it was evident in the juice selections on the menu and fresh ingredients in the food. When you walk in the place, the artwork made you salute! lol if you're from NYC, you understand that we take pride in seeing our monuments and popular spots in graffiti style art. This place was surrounded by it and beautifully exposed bricks! Loved the decor. It's 3 levels, 1 is opened on the weekdays and all of them open on the weekends. We sat in the middle level by the bar but there were table seatings to support dining needs. The DJ arrived later but we had to run out after our early happy hour drinks. Drinks: we had the classic margarita, served on the Happy Hour menu and it was fire! Topped it with salt on the rim, I immediately enjoyed 2 rounds. Next, I ordered the NY chopped cheese and fried Oreos to go. So, I know folks won't normally honor the beauty of the chopped cheese outside of NYC, but as someone who greatly loves the city that raised her, this chopped cheese was real deal! It was PERFECT! Started in Harlem and rapidly moved throughout the other NYC boroughs, this sandwich is basically a well seasoned beef patty placed on the grill top with the cheese chopped into it. Some places in NY would also chop up peppers and onions and add ketchup and mayo (based on customers preference). Mixxed however, stayed true to the recipe by perfectly seasoning their patties, adding 2 types of cheese (American and Cheddar) placing it on a buttery soft footlong bun and adding fresh lettuce, tomato, and the most delicious sauce throughout it. This sandwich spoke to my heart and knowing that I do not have to wait for my visit to NY to grab one, is magical! Next, their deep fried Oreos comes with a chocolate sauce on the side and it is to die for!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the treat that can break all diet codes, but you actually want that so you indulge in it lol. It was AMAZING! The vibes were excellent, the food was incredible, and I'm looking forward to returning soon.

Biscoff Pancakes and the Not your Mama's Shrimp & Grits

Went to Mixxed DC for Saturday brunch with a party of six, and overall it was a great experience. First off, love that it's Black-owned and has a dope graffiti-style vibe inside. I was originally supposed to go in August, and they were super accommodating with rescheduling. We were seated right away and opted for the unlimited mimosa special ($50), which includes one entrée. Just a heads up: everyone at your table has to participate in the special to get it, which was a little frustrating since one of us doesn't drink. Thankfully, they made an exception and let him do unlimited mocktails so we could all still enjoy the deal. Since we had six people, they gave us three pitchers, and those mimosas were hittin! Highly recommend trying the peach flavor. We definitely left brunch very tipsy lol. For food, I had the Biscoff pancakes, which were rich and tasty--7/10. Only thing I'd change is how the cookie butter was only on the top pancake; I would've loved it layered throughout. They came with fresh fruit and I added a side of scrambled eggs. I also got to try the shrimp and grits which was definitely a standout! 9/10. So flavorful! We added a hookah to our experience (separate from food, around $40), and it was a fun touch. The DJ came in during the middle of our brunch and turned it up with 90s/2000s rap and R&B, had the whole place vibing. Service was great, staff was friendly and helpful the whole time. I'd absolutely recommend Mixxed for a fun brunch outing with friends. Just make sure your whole crew is ready for bottomless!

When you walk in , the space truly transforms and you forget you are in Adam's Morgan. The service is great! The young lady who took our orders was very friendly and knowledgeable about the food here. The food is bomb!!! I ordered the chop cheese and fries and it's good!!!! They also have hookah!

Stopped by on a Friday night for karaoke and was met with great service, amazing food that I can't wait to go back for, and a fun night! You could tell everyone that came was looking for good, safe, fun energy with people to match. Look forward to returning

Mixxed is a casual bar in Adams Morgan with really good HH specials. HH is Monday to Friday from 4-7 pm and they have food and drink options. I would recommend the smash burger and the 1/2 off don Julio frozen margaritas. I sat at the bar so the service was pretty quick but it seemed quick for the dining area as well. They have a lot of daily events and it's a good chill vibe .

Mixxed is such a fun spot in the DMV. Located on the strip that contains a number of great restaurants and shopping spots, Mixxed can be missed but shouldn't be. Our service was great. When we arrived it was mid day and very hot. Nevertheless our server was attentive and fun. I loved the games that customers can grab and play while they are waiting. They had a bottomless brunch that day but due to the heat we picked a much lighter fare of salad, smoothie and avocado toast. I can't wait to come back to Mixxed during my next stop in the DMV, hopefully this time when its cooler!

I went here for Halloween with my 14 and 5 year old. It was perfect because we sat in the restaurant portion, but had a lounge bar vibe complete with a very delicious mocktail drink for me (orange crush) and strawberry lemonade for the kids. The music was very night club live DJ vibes loud, but it was so much fun! The menu items looked great, so we will come back again to taste. I was so grateful to the server for allowing us to be in that space because I was not sure if I could even be in there with my kids. I danced wearing my day of the dead mask with my 5 year old and my teen had fun watching. We were all highly entertained by the music! Downstairs they had an anime party for grown ups, my daughter was dressed up as an anime character and my son was Blippie, which is how I found out about the event on eventbrite.

Came here because the bartender was doing a great job recruiting! Bar has games and bartender Steph knows how to make a good drink. I want to come back during like a happy hour and I didn't try to the food this time. The place is super cute though! Also has an upstairs and a downstairs!

I went to Mixxed DC for brunch on Sunday January 14th. Mixxed restaurant is two months old, it opened back in November of 2023, restaurant is black-owned as well as woman owned. The restaurant is in the historic Adams Morgan vibrant location. Upon, entering the restaurant you have to go upstairs to the restaurant from outside, and the restaurant door will be to your left. I didn't see an accessible way for someone that can't take the stairs to the restaurant. The restaurant is small, love the ambiance of place especially the restrooms that were clean. Saturdays and Sundays live DJ spinning. I ordered a smash burger that had only American cheese on it & ketchup, along with fries. My friend also ordered a smash burger as well along with mozzarella sticks. I would definitely come back to visit.

It's exactly what you would expect NYers to bring to DC for better or for worse lol. I had a chopped cheese for the sake of nostalgia for my Brooklyn days. It was good. I won't front. It was like what you'd get from the bodega but with a restaurant price tag instead. The fries (sold separately) were hot and crispy. The margarita was like a watered down club drink that you'd get in any NY club so that was also authentic. I'm visiting this place at 1 in the afternoon on a Wednesday. The ambiance on the main level gives lounge vibes. Loud (not annoyingly loud) music plays a presorted dj mix complete with a little scratching and mixing. The interior mixes graffiti and an almost tacky over abundance of fake flowers and plants. If they had thrown one or two real ones in here by the window I wouldn't be hating so hard. Nevertheless, this place is a vibe...maybe not the vibe, but a vibe nevertheless.

As tourists, we had no idea how intimate the space was (or that reservations are recommended even just for drinks!), so we felt incredibly lucky when a staff member took pity on us and offered an outside table. I wish I could remember his name--he truly made the experience. He brought so much energy and personality, setting the tone for the whole night. After scanning the QR codes on the "records" for the menu, we each ordered something different. I went with the Take Me Out--a mix of mezcal, pineapple, amontillado, tamarind, mango, coconut, and lime--and I was not prepared for just how delicious it would be. It was layered, refreshing, and completely memorable. The presentation and attention to detail were next-level. My drink arrived with a perfectly round ice sphere and was paired with a sugared, vegan mango gummy that added a fun, unexpected twist. Our host also elevated several of the drinks tableside--adding custom tinctures and even creating a smiley face with drops of oil and basil in one cocktail nearby. It felt thoughtful, creative, and a little theatrical in the best way. We spent the evening outside, enjoying incredible drinks, easy conversation, and a warm night under the stars. It was one of those experiences that just sticks with you. I'm already looking forward to my next trip to D.C.--and Press Club Bar of Record will absolutely be on my list to revisit. Highly recommend, and maybe make a reservation!

Tucked into the heart of Dupont Circle with its unmistakable bright blue awning, the restaurant is intimate, moody, and always buzzing. It's not a huge space, which only adds to its charm and makes every reservation feel like a win. The atmosphere is perfect for sharing dishes and lingering over dinner with friends. The food was incredible...I genuinely loved every single bite. Just be prepared: the Sichuan spice is no joke! If you aren't expecting it, it'll definitely sneak up on you (in the best way). My must-orders? The chili wontons, Dan Dan noodles, and beef noodles. Every dish was packed with bold flavor and left me wanting to come back for more. If you've been trying to score a reservation, keep at it. Astoria is one of those places that's absolutely deserving of its reputation, and I'll be thinking about those noodles until my next visit.

Inside had small tables and a kinda casual cocktail bar vibe Beef Noodles - the highlight and actually very good! The noodles are long and handmade and chewy. They hold onto the sauce very well! The sauce has a slight kick and is very savory. The beef is soft and also flavorful! I feel the price for the portion is kinda expensive though 8/10 Chili wontons - skin is silky and soft, sauce is savory with a small kick as well! Even though the sauces look similar to beef noodle they taste very different. The fillings had good flavor and overall were good but were a bit tougher and dryer than I would prefer. 6/10 Crab fried rice - crab is slightly overcooked but naturally sweet. It has a light curry taste throughout and was pretty good but didn't really stand out 5.5/10 Mapo tofu - slight kick and nice savory taste in the sauce! However I think they cut the tofu pieces way too large or the tofu they chose had way too much tofu flavor that overpowers the sauce. I'd prefer a very light silky tofu but this was a soft tofu. 6/10 Vpod - at first it just tasted like orange juice but then the other flavors peek through on the after taste and when I mixed it more. Even though it was good, it still felt very basic 5/10 Philadelphia Scotsman - it's pretty ginger forward. Technically the level of ginger spice is fine but strong but then the rest of the drink got completely overpowered and so this just wasn't that great 2.5/10
