I was excited to try their happy hour, but I am sad to report that almost everything about our experience was disappointing. I am pretty easily pleased when it comes to sushi, but this sushi was displeasing to our taste buds. The service was also glaringly bad. Our plates with various discarded shells and other trash were not taken until the very end. I kept pushing it closer to the edge of the table, and they kept ignoring it. It ended up being $70 total (with happy hour discounts) for two people for the worst sushi I've had at a restaurant. This is what we got: Citrussy maki: had to order it because of the funny name. They had large pieces of lemon and lime on the sushi, which was so upsetting and unexpected to get a mouthful of. After we realized this and picked them off, the sushi was okay to me. I thought the creamy mango yogurt was interesting and alright, while my friend did not like it. Crunch maki: this one was relatively normal and tasted fine. There was way too much tempura for the amount of sushi though. Chilango maki: definitely my favourite out of all the maki we ordered. The strawberries added a nice taste. We had to remove the jalapenos though because they did not compliment the sweetness well. Rainforest maki: this one was atrocious. The ingredients listed on the menu sounded pretty normal, but we discovered the sauce tasted awful. I don't know what kind of sauce it was, and I still forced myself to eat it, but my friend took one bite and gagged. Crab meat puff: the outer fried shell was too hard and didn't taste good, while the inside was way too creamy. Mango martini: this was really good and sweet. Seems like the drinks might be better than the food here. The server handed me a ticket for parking garage validation at the end, and I was so confused because I didn't see any signs that said we could park in the garage. The hamachi kama (grilled yellowtail collar) was a smaller portion, but very tasty. The akami (tuna) and sake (salmon) sashimi was ok...not great, not bad. The hamachi (yellowtail) sashimi was very good. The katsudon, however, was decidedly NOT good. The fried cutlet itself was ok, but you can taste that they probably used canned broth (definitely not dashi) to make the sauce w/egg.
