    S&M Maki

Food is delicious - I typically get the S&M maki and the New York roll! I also tried the Buffalo maki and it was good but not my favorite. service is attentive, and restaurant is clean! If you park in the garage , give the waiter your ticket & he'll give you one so parking is free

Service isn't the greatest. Food is good. Food: we have had several rolls, dessert and the food is great. Everything is fresh and tastes great. The sevice can be lackluster and you will wait while, even when not busy. I could give 3 star rating due to our last visit. The service was lacking but the food was good, so I'll give them four stars for now. Service definitely needs work.

parking: 4/5. street parking is available but spaces are few and far between. the parking garage next door is only $3/hr, which may be the cheapest i've seen in houston! ambiance: 4/5. nice, spacious place. taking off a point for the poor turtles in the "pond" in the front. that can't be good for them :( service: 4/5. hostess was super sweet! our server was fine. edamame: 5/5. it's pretty hard to mess up edamame. i like that they have flavors you can add at no additional charge! they have an "after 9pm" menu that had AMAZING deals! we ordered all of our entrees from there. they also have cocktails and house wine for just $7! big island roll: 5/5! this might be the most delicious, buttery, fresh salmon i've had in houston. only $10 on the after 9pm menu! ceviche roll: 5/5! this roll was so unique! the bell pepper that comes on top of it was a little overpowering, but you can just take it off. the cliantro cream sauce it with was DELICIOUS and i even ordered extra. $12 on the after 9pm menu. crunchy roll: 5/5! delicious and a huge amount of crunch, as you can see in my picture. $8 on the after 9pm menu. overall: 4.6/5! amazing deals for happy hour or late dinners!!!

Maki roll seafood ramen stir fry Yaki noodle and shrimp tempura

A little misleading on the menu got the seafood ramen but there was no seafood not one lick maybe I read the menu wrong. Also got the crunchy maki that was good as well as the shrimp tempura and the ramen which was good. The service could have been more attentive I do not like to wait for the condiments that come with the food while my food gets cold . The ambiance is nice low key but could have been a little bit cleaner over all. Bathroom had urine on the toilets someone needs to stay up on that.

Lowkey haven't written much bc I've been gatekeeping this place they have great ramen and sushi options, a great happy hour deal M-F 3-7pm. My favorite rolls are the crunchy & the NY maki. Took my mom for the first time and she loved their edemame and gyoza!! She even got a mango marg lol. Fried Oreos were undercooked, my only qualm. Please try Miyako!!

Miyako was such a treat to check out. I went on a weeknight and they stay open til 11. They have a late menu with pretty good options. I went with the Miyako roll and the shrimp fried rice. The roll was good but I wish it came with eel sauce. The fried rice was very good. It was like a richer takeout fried rice. The place was very polished inside. It would be a great place for a date or an intimate outing. Service was 10/10 . The wait staff was attentive.

Weekends are the best here ! They have a discounted menu, good drinks, attentive service, and they validate the first two hours in the parking garage. I have liked everything I've tried but especially the Washington Roll and New York Roll - sooooo good

Amazing food! Came here for happy hour and was not disappointed. Everything I ordered came in big portions and was very tasty. Although they closed at 11, they were kind enough to let us stay & never felt rushed once we got our food. Fish tasted fresh said their sushi dishes were a mix of savory sweet and spicy. The crunchy roll & new york maki were my favorite. Definitely will be coming back again

The summer roll...... this was all

The miso soup was good but the size and content of the roll was really disappointing. Essentially 4.5 pieces

If you want quality food, service, and an amazing happy hour selection DO NOT HESITATE TO COME HERE!! Miyako is truly an amazing restaurant with a very large menu. The best part of it all is that they have reverse happy hour so anytime we want to do a late night date for some drinks or sake bombs, this is our go to spot. I've taken so many friends and family to this location in specific and they never leave disappointed. It's a staple between me and my friends. We love to dine here before a night out because it's super close and accessible to Washington Ave and not too far from Downtown bars as well. 10/10 recommend! Open till 11, too!

What can I say disappointing! We have been coming here for years, quality of food has always been good, and if it wasn't service made up for it. Our last visit on Tuesday was not pleasant, the sushi wasn't fresh, rice was hard and cold cold as if it had been seating in a refrigerator, I do not drink anymore, but I drink water , lots of it, but I kept having to drink my wife's water, this service was during the day, only four tables. So yes bad service, we still leave a tip of 15% even though it was not deserved, but it is ridiculous that they ask for 18% tip or more, and service was horrible, my wife and I like to tip 20% or more on well served food and service.

Food is decent. Service is okay. They have happy hour as well. Drinks are a hit or miss so I always keep it simple like vodka tonics or a glass of wine. The lobster roll is my favorite. It always smells like Clorox and pine sol which makes me nausea when eating.

    Roach in food

i use to love coming to eat at this place, but now i will never come here again! manger didn't handle the situation at all with a roach found in food, he just wanted to claim it was from next door being shut down.

Opted for the salmon trio sashimi, tontoro skewers, and one of their new appetizers, the yuzu ageimoono (?). The taro potato balls were delicious, smooth with a nice light crispy shell covered in a salty, light yuzu dressing. The tontoro was delicious, well roasted, not too fatty, and tender. The salmon trio was also great, coming with king salmon, regular salmon, and smoked salmon. To be honest, I could tell there was a difference between the king and regular salmon, but I couldn't really tell which one was which. I also had a bite of my friend's tantanmen, which was basically like the Japanese version of dandan noodles and it was delicious, great nutty flavor with a touch of spice. It has a pretty nice menu. While it is a touch higher in price point, it is pretty reasonable for Houston. The quality is pretty equivalent to what I had in Japan, although as expected, more expensive. Will definitely need to be back to try their other items!

Rock N Roll roll 7. Zen Mega Dragon roll 8. hamachi sashimi 9. hamachi roll 10. Extra Picante roll 11. Yakisoba noodles 12. Brussel sprouts Almost everything was absolutely delicious. The pepper tuna tataki and hamachili were fresh and flavorful. The karaage was crispy, tender and juicy, and the agedashi tofu had that perfect texture in a savory broth. All were sooo good. The Zen Mega Dragon roll, hamachi hamachi roll, and Extra Picante roll were all fresh and excellent. The only two dishes that didn't quite wow us were the hijiki and the Rock N Roll roll. Both were a bit basic compared to everything else on the table. The yakisoba noodles did take a little while to come out, but wow... they were soooo worth the wait. Savory, hot, and incredibly satisfying. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, which makes it even better. There is free parking, but the lot is small. When it's busy, finding a spot can be a little tricky. We will definitely be back to explore more of the menu.

Zach the chef was also very knowledgeable as well and presented each dish beautifully. Started off with the "Alive" cocktail which was a tequila based drink. Pretty strong and refreshing citrus taste! Ordered the the 4 Temaki set which included Hotate, Salmon, Negitoro and Crab. My favorite was deff the crab handroll, had a yummy buttery taste. Extra handrolls we got the Steak & Eggs handrolll (taste just how it sounds and the steak was nice/tender) and an extra Crab Handroll. Also, got 2 diff Donburi's which is the Negitoro Donburi and Bluefin Tuna Donburi (SOOOO worth it, it had Akamai/Chutoro/Otoro and all melted in your mouth and was fresh and paired great with the sauce it came with). The rice overall, was seasoned and cooked great as well. To add on the side, we got their chilli crunch which was a nice topper for our hand rolls. To end the night, we got the Raspberry Kakigori (super soft ice and refreshing). Pretty close to Japan! Seating was a very chill vibe with vinyl players and good music. I ordered the three hand roll set with a maguro hand roll add on. If I had to rank them, it would be: 1. Hotate:The lemon zest pairs incredibly well with the scallop. 2. Salmon: Super creamy thanks to the sauce. 3. Maguro: Also creamy from the avocado. I personally do not prefer avocado in my hand rolls, but it was still good. 4. Negitoro: A little fishy and more plain compared to the others. Overall, the hand rolls were very generous with both rice and fish. I was a bit surprised by the side of pickles since I usually expect ginger and wasabi, but the pickles were a game changer. The hand rolls did not need soy sauce because they were already full of flavor. The service was attentive, and they even offer warm towels at the beginning. Overall, this is definitely a place I will be coming back to regularly.

From the specials menu, we started with the spicy garlic coconut milk mussels made with fresh Prince Edward Island/British Columbia mussels in a rich spicy garlic coconut cream sauce, topped with green onions and served with toasted ciabatta bread. The broth was incredible and packed with flavor. As an appetizer, we ordered the Texas Wagyu Hot Stone Bowl -- the only rice item on the menu at the time -- made with rice, egg, kimchi sauce, tawan mushrooms, sesame, and green onion. It was prepared tableside for us, which made the experience even more fun and interactive. We also tried the Spicy Soy Ramen with braised ground pork, chili oil, soy milk broth, soft boiled egg, wakame, green onion, and micro cilantro. The flavors were rich, comforting, and had the perfect amount of spice. The Nagasaki Champon Ramen was another standout with clams, shrimp, cabbage, pork, onion, ginger, and micro cilantro in a flavorful broth that tasted fresh and authentic. The restrooms were very Japanese-inspired and beautifully maintained, adding to the atmosphere of the restaurant. Gabby was an amazing waitress -- attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and made the entire dining experience even better. Then there was dessert: Green Tea soufflé and chocolate milk bread pudding! I got the pan daiquiri as my drink to start and my friend got the herbed lavender lemonade. For food we shared the hamachi crudo, the chutoro nigri, the kanpachi nigiri, the A5 tartare, the kani handroll, The kinoko yasaimono, and the hot scallop dish to share. The pan daiquiri was SO good. The smokiness from the mezcal hits you first and then the sweet and creamy after taste takes over. It was so well mixed and I would highly recommend trying this if you are a mezcal lover like me. (9/10) The herbed lavender lemonade was too tangy and sweet for my liking. The lavender flavor get lost in the drink. It tasted like a typical lemonade, nothing special. (5/10) The hamachi crudo was so fresh and I really enjoyed the sweet and tangy broth. I'm not sure I would call it tom kha broth but it tasted good regardless and paired well with the tomatoes. (7.5/10) The chutoro nigiri was SO buttery and melt in your mouth delicious. I would definitely get this again. (8.8/10) The kanpachi nigiri was fresh and I enjoyed the sauce paired with it. It was my first time trying amberjack and I liked it. (7/10) The A5 tartare was super unique and well seasoned. There was plenty of tartare compared to the amount of milk bread you are given to eat it with. The uni, caviar, pate and waygu all mixed together was a decadent combination full of flavor. My only note was the contrast in temperatures that I did not love, the tartare came cold while the milk bread was warm. Overall, a very luxurious and tasty dish. (8/10) The kani handroll surpassed my expectations. Typically I don't go for crab first, but I did enjoy the flavors paired with the crab and the hand roll was well filled. (7.8/10) The kinoko roll (king trumpet mushroom roll) really surprised me. I was weary about getting this roll because I normally don't opt for vegan options, but this king mushroom was so well prepared and the sauce was so delicious that dare I say that I enjoyed this more than some of the fish/meat sushi rolls I've had in the past. (8/10) The hot scallop dish was one of the best bites of the night. The scallop was perfectly charred and cooked and the creamy polenta base with the umami salmon roe, with the fried red cabbage to add texture was amazing. I would definitely order this again. (9/10) Overall, I really enjoyed my time at Aiko and the food surpassed my expectations. I loved everything I tried and do want to come back to try more. The service was quick and helpful with the menu. Parking can be a bit tricky, but there are some free street parking spots around the plaza. The ambiance is definitely upscale and classy. It's a great place for a date! My only complaint was that I made a reservation for 2 at least a week in advance and upon arrival, though they had plenty of open tables, we were seated at the opposite end of a table that was already occupied. We were close enough to hear their entire conversation throughout dinner, and I just thought it was an odd experience because that had never happened to me before. Though it did not hinder me from enjoying the food I would have preferred to be seated at our own table.

I thought Aiko delivered a really memorable meal. Overall I'm giving this place 5 stars -- the…read morequality of the fish and the execution were excellent -- though personally I did find the progression of courses a little rich toward the end. For context, Aiko is part of the same group as Doko (their sushi omakase concept) and Handies Douzo (their handroll-focused restaurant), and you can definitely see the overlap in technique and flavor profiles across the restaurants. We went for the Valentine's omakase menu. The meal started with the Oyster Duo. One had a yuzu granita and aguachile that was bright and refreshing, while the other had a roasted onion soubise with smoked trout roe that leaned richer and more savory. Nice contrast between the two. One of my favorite early dishes was the chilled zaru soba. The buckwheat noodles had a great chewy texture and the mentsuyu broth was light and refreshing with mirin, mushroom, and seaweed notes. It was a really nice palate reset. The smoked ocean trout sashimi (masu) was another standout. It had garlic aioli on top with oil and black pepper, and the tomato added a crunchy brightness that balanced the richness of the fish. It's a simple combination but worked surprisingly well. The temaki course was excellent. The snow crab handroll had this creamy mayo texture with chili and crunchy shallots, and you can tell they roast the seaweed sheets right before serving because the nori had an incredible crunch -- honestly some of the best texture I've had in a handroll. It reminded me a lot of the style they do at Handies. For the hirame crudo with pomegranate and shiso, the flavor was good but a bit more subtle. I think the pistachio really helps that dish; without enough of it the flavors felt a little muted. I know pomegranate and pistachio is a common flavor pairing for middle eastern cuisines. My partner has a tree nut allergy so they removed it for both of us. The wagyu fat rice was very indulgent. The first thing you taste is the wagyu fat, but the fried shallots and other crunchy elements help balance it out. The sauce reminded me a lot of something you'd get at Doko -- rich but very satisfying. Adding fried rice in between fish courses was an interesting choice from the chef, but I think Aiko aims to be more western fusion than a traditional Japanese omakase. The tuna trio was fantastic. The chutoro with negidare (garlic, sesame oil, scallion) was probably my favorite bite of the night -- super flavorful and perfectly balanced. The foie gras course leaned sweet and savory, almost like an eel sauce flavor with some crunch on top. Delicious, but by this point in the progression I was definitely feeling the richness of the meal. Dessert was a milk tea tiramisu that I thought was really interesting. The mascarpone layer had a tartness to it -- almost like there might be a little sour cream mixed in -- and one layer had a subtle salty note that balanced the sweetness. Overall, the food quality was excellent and the fish was clearly very fresh. My only minor critique is that the progression of courses skewed a bit rich for my personal preference, especially in the second half of the meal. That said, every dish was thoughtfully executed and there were some truly standout bites. If you enjoy creative omakase with some richer flavor profiles, Aiko is definitely worth trying.

The room is attractive and thoughtfully designed and there is an intentional sense of scarcity that makes the evening feel special from the start. That said my overall experience landed squarely in the average range. The sushi and presentation are good and competently executed but nothing truly stood out or felt memorable. For the price being charged I expected flavors or techniques that would separate it from other strong sushi options but that never quite happened. Everything was pleasant yet ultimately unremarkable. I get the sense that Neo receives rave reviews because people want it to feel special. The exclusivity the setting and the concept do a lot of the heavy lifting. Once you strip that away the food itself does not fully justify the hype or the cost. It is enjoyable but not exceptional and not something I would rush to repeat at this price point. Neo is fine for those seeking a curated intimate dining experience but if you are focused primarily on standout sushi and value there are better options available.

We were greeted with wine while exploring before the meal began, which was a really nice touch. Make sure to arrive early, as they start promptly. Each dish is introduced individually, making the experience feel thoughtful and immersive. Every course was beautifully done and tasted amazing, and the overall atmosphere was relaxed yet elevated. Easily one of my favorite omakase experiences in Houston by far.

They have a huge variety of solid options from yakitori to ramen to sushi which are all solid options. Also their alcohol is very reasonably priced. - lychee margarita: for the price a great drink - Yellowtail sashimi - enjoyable and fresh tasting - Tsukiman dipping ramen: the broth is more watery and less flavorful. Thought it was fine but not my favorite - Black truffle ramen: not the most flavorful broth but solid - Spicy curry: a nice mix that slowly builds up with the kick - Favorite yakitori pieces were the ribeye (wasabi isn't too spicy and adds a unique flavor), the salted chicken wings were not that impressive - Yellowtail collar was solid. It's not a huge collar but cooked well; the sauce it came with was the most flavorful yellowtail sauce ive had and enjoyed that Staff is friendly, the food service is quick, and the variety of food with high quality was impressive. I feel like their ramen options were not as flavorful or impressive as I've had in the past. Inside has a nice clean sushi vibe with stalls and wooden design.
