Some plays bussa nova, some plays folk songs. I come here every morning in Lisbon to watch the sunrise while sipping my tea. This small spot is right in front of my hotel. In the afternoon and during sunset, the city below is painted with different scenes that enchant me all day long. To the left, there's a cafe, and on the right, there's a view of Tagus River. I was able to blast through everything in about 2-3 hours and we didn't exactly zip through either. We took time to view, read and take photos as we went. The main issue is this place isn't cheap and it's pretty pricey for something that won't take up a lot of your day. But in the end I just saw it as contributing money to the zoo and hoping it helps keep the animals taken care of. If you look at it that way, relative to what the zoo offers, I think it was worth it for me.

With it being so small I thought the price tag at $30 euros per person was a little much. It only took us about two 1/2 hours to see the entire zoo and watch the bird show. They had a great primate exhibit and the animals seem to be a little closer than most zoos I have been to.

You'll pass penguins and waterfalls, you can go over a wooden bridge through a little tropical feeling forest, and onto the playful otters. Then you'll continue around passing the giant central tank. As you descend, you'll get additional looks at the tank and different viewpoints like watching the penguins dive below the water. This is the first aquarium to capture my son's delight, but I also think he's just turned the corner on appreciating animals (or at least sea life). Our toddler daughter also enjoyed it very much! We all did. We don't typically book into zoos or aquariums unless they are top in the world, and this aquarium was very highly rated, so I was very happy we came. It was a perfect attraction for our family, but I also would have been happy I came even if this was a trip without kids. With kids? A slam dunk. You can add a gondola ride onto your aquarium ticket which we did. We booked the roundtrip gondola and our kids enjoyed the experience. I wouldn't say it's a must do, but it's not terribly expensive and if you have kids, they'll like this experience too. If you're up for a packed day, you can do the science museum which is next door as well. I read it's a very interactive hands on museum but we had to get back that day. The aquarium is a half day experience. I think we there for 2.5 hours.

Rainy day in Lisbon so decided to take in what was billed as largest Aquarium in Portugal…read more I recommend buying tickets before hand as tgey have entry time periods and it will greatly reduce waiting around ona busy day. We pre-purchased tickets so had a designated slot time making entry smooth. Ticket takers were nice, and able to speak enough english to be helpful. Once inside, we walked thru a display of prehistoric sea monsters with placards in multiple languages(including English) with names and descriptions. You then proceed down an enclosed raised walkway to the main Aquarium. Once inside, familiar Aquarium setup with a one way path navigating various habitats and tanks for penguins, sea otters, all circling the huge main central tank . Daughter was disappointed that there was no tank where she could touch a manta or sting ray. All in all, a pleasant way to spend a few hours to learn of the local sea life.

If you're looking to hug a tree, you should look elsewhere. If you're into open areas where people can gather and stroll around, this might be your spot. My feet were on fire from climbing all those hills up and down all day so I was actually thrilled to see flat terrain for once...and so were my feet. There's nice sculptures and fresh breeze to soak in while overlooking the boasting new metropolis in Lisboa.
