In my particular case I had a pilot light which had twice gone out and was reluctant to stay lit. The engineer informed me it was due to static electric due to my not using my central heating. I only use the back boiler concerned to heat my water and dont use the radiators because I use my gas fire. Well it is now twelve hours since he left and the pilot light is still lit. We'll see if there are no more problems as I would have first suspected the thermo coupling device but I am no expert.
