One of the numerous convenience shops down the Northfield section of the Bristol Road South, MK Food and Wine is largely similar in appearance to many corner shops that seek to emulate the look and feel of the multinational megastores such as Asda and Tesco. Personally, I find this can be a slippery slope for many businesses, as they can lose their local character and identity, and essentially become a Tesco clone only with less choice and higher prices. Thankfully however, MK Food and Wine retrains its character thanks to the lovely couple who run the shop who never fail to ask if there's anything in particular you're looking for and offer a helping hand. Their changing deals are also worth keeping an eye out for - the latest I've seen is 2 bottles of Bluehill wine for £5.50. read more
