The difference is the wider aisles and more spacious approach to the checkouts. The feeling of space is continued by the ceiling height. Now my only downside is the inability of staff to be empowered to make a different decision and this IS symptomatic for large organisations. Arrived at 11:35 for breakfast having completed the shopping. Breakfast finishes at 11:30, I am told, as I cannot locate the menu. No option to bend the rules, or ask the chef if he'd accommodate. Result Sainsbury's lose 4 for breakfast. Not the greatest lost to them in the scheme of things. Would we ever return? No. Made our way to Chiquitas where their breakfast finishes at 12:00 (noon). Arrived at 12:05. I asked if we were too late for breakfast. Greeted with the answer, that everything is possible, and not any issue. Also, over the lunchtime option to provided free refills for the kids too. Will I return to give them repeat business? Yes I will. THINK ON SAINSBURY'S - ALLOW YOUR STAFF TO BE EMPOWERED AND MAKE PRAGMATIC DECISIONS. I COULD HAVE UNDERSTOOD IT MORE IF WE HAD ARRIVED A LONG TIME AFTER BREAKFAST CLOSURE, BUT AS THERE WERE ONLY 3 TABLES OCCUPIED......WHAT PROBLEM WOULD HAVE OCCURRED BY SERVING US BREAKFAST.... YES, WE WERE HAVING A LAZY DAY WHILST STILL ON OUR FESTIVE HOLIDAY.....

There is a good sweety area for your little ones and loads of choice when it comes to snacks. Though it's a small store they manage to have a varied range of lagers, wines and spirits. The bargain bin is always worth a nose through as well. It is located a few minutes away from Blake Street Train Station so it is convenient for a morning paper and your tobacco fix. The only downside is that they don't have a lotto machine. The hours here are great and they always stick to the times. They don't just randomly close if it's gone a bit quiet. If you ever need something on Christmas Day or New Years Day this is the shop to come to, they open for at least 4 hours during these days. The great thing about this shop is that they have a haberdashery wall rack. This always comes in handy when you need something quickly and you can't find it at home because it's too small or fiddly, like a needle or elastic bands.

The reson for this store being known as "Billy's" locally has been lost though the years, but I'd…read morelike to think that there was a time when the original Billy himself took my loose change for Garbage Pail Kids cards and, ironically perhaps, Back to the Future stickers. It's just so hard to know when this site has loosely retained the same purpose but under a mix of official names and various franchised enterprises. Franchise aside, though, it retains an independent, family-run feel on surprisingly large premises. The appeal is combining the vaguely retro, non-postal merchandise you'd see in Post Offices when you were a kid - hair clips and the like - with the more modern mix of booze, papers, fags 'n' mags. You can't stock up on food like an express supermarket, but there are enough snacks and basic groceries to see you through the night and morning. You might expect, given the location, it would simply serve the residents of Four Oaks' Hillhook Esate. But given the quiet, wide, suburban streets, it often makes an easily-accessible and handier alternative to Mere Green for those in the know. With Blake Street station nearby, it's also a handy spot where you can stock up ahead of a trip into the cities at either end of the line, Birmingham and Lichfield.

I am not a fan of Spar in general, but this one really is the worst I have ever visited - despite…read morethe fact that I live less than 5 minutes away I have now decided I will not give them my custom ever again because they are such an appalling shop. This branch is located on Sunbury Road in Longbridge and is actually situated in the perfect spot for a convenience store such as this, although unfortunately the people who run the shop have not made the most of it. There is a decent selection of groceries in here, but the prices are so steep that it used to grieve me paying that when there is a more reasonably priced store on the opposite side of the road. They stock a good selection of bread including cobs, hot dog rolls and normal sliced bread. The bread is usually fresh, although as often happens in this kind of store sometimes if you go in on a Sunday the bread isn't very good. They sell a very small range of fruit and veg; basically apples, bananas (which are always brown!), potatoes and carrots - again, the shop over the road beats them hands down as I can buy my leeks, parsnips and all sorts from there. One thing I've noticed about this Spar is there are sometimes some glaring omissions about what they stock, for example they sell Bisto gravy POWDER but not Oxos which seems strange to me. They sell a range of soft drinks as well as tea bags and coffee, the prices on these are too high though and it's more affordable to go to one of the other shops in the area. Sweets and chocolates are available too but the selection isn't great even though the products are arranged to make it look as if there are lots to choose from. You can pay some of your bills in here and also use the ATM (for which there is a charge). I don't like the staff in this Spar because they generally are surly and are not friendly towards their customers at all. Tell a lie, there is one lady in there who likes to have a chat but she's not there very often and usually there are a couple of blokes serving who look at you like you are disturbing their conversation - and god help you if you ask a question as you'll be met with blank looks and annoyed responses. Last week I bought a 2 litre bottle of milk from Spar which was off when I got it home (lumpy and horrible) - I took it back the following day and he refused to do anything about it saying I had probably not put it in the fridge when I got it home! The cheek!
