Newman Nails and Spa is one of the few nail salons in the Newman/Gustine area. I was able to make an appointment by phone the day prior for a gel mani/pedi. When I arrived, I was promptly greeted and directed to sit in the massage chair to start my pedicure. The inside is a bit old looking and reminded me of a salon from the 90's (cotton candy pink carpeting, colorful paper lanterns, easy listening radio). As a first timer, I observed the nail techs and I loved how Tom (?) was so vocal and singing along to the music or chatting with his regulars. He seems very nice and warm. Luan worked on my nails and while she was brisk and all business, she did an OK job in under an hour. I was able to simply show Luan a picture of what I wanted - and she did a close replica to the picture. I will say I thought it was strange when she started scratching the back of my calves during the pedicure 'massage' lol I did notice her having to clean up hardened gel from my nails and some air bubbles. After further inspection, there were missed spots of hardened gel and air bubbles on the thumb (which you can't tell from far away). 2 days later, there was lifting from the cuticle end (it would catch when I shampooed my hair in the shower). However I really did love the look of the end result. For a basic gel mani/pedi, I paid $78 before tip. Overall, I wouldn't mind returning. I'll have to try again!

She's hecka rough twist your fingers every which way until it hurt. Nearly cut me with drill,files so flipping rough tell her if can make sure previous polish is gone she says polish will cover it still have white on nail. First off the massage chairs weren't working she tried to move me to another one not working I said I'll go to the other one that works then says they're new. My daughter was with me for pedi she kept tryna push gel on her she said no gel twice then I had to tell her regular she didn't like that said her shoes I said you have the flip flops right like she a minor ask the parent. She hurried to do my daughters nails too. I go to venmo pay her she asked then looks and then non oh you were this much your daughter this much like oh heels no you need to tell me upfront in the beginning money hungry don't care about customers only da money. Then other clients come in, oh hi how are you ugh never again. She had a problem with me last time too.
