Recently stranded in late afternoon at the Yosemite Tunnel View parking lot. Car had died & would not start. Called AAA, but they couldn't figure out how to help. After other phone calls to people at various Yosemite Village locations, I got an offer to come out & jump the car. Car would not start due to bad alternator. Was put in contact with James at MMA Towing. Arrangements were made to buy a new alternator from O'Rielly's. James offered to pick up alternator & drive over an hour to my location & install new alternator. James & his assistant arrived in the dark at 9:00 PM. Took an hour to remove & install alternator. I had a flat tire while trying to leave Yosemite, but still with a good 60-90 minute drive out of the park at sunset. We knew to leave the car there and fortunately were in a caravan with other friends. I called MMA when I got back to our cabin and James was as kind as can be and listened to all of my challenges. He told me that we should both think through some options overnight and reconnect in the morning. He texted me first thing the next day and was a true God-send from that point on. I also had a subconscious desire to find out what happens when you lock your keys in the trunk more than 2400 miles from home. James sent his guy but my windows only budged enough to slide a credit card after bending the crap out of it. He didn't let good engineering get in the way and crafted the tool needed and came back out that evening on a Friday night, into Camp 4, on Fathers Day weekend. Round 2 was a success! James is a Professional through n through. His tenacity is unmatched and he will not let you down! If it weren't for him my next best option was to smash my window or have my ex-wife bail me out by sending my spare key over night. James is absolutely awesome. My motorcycle broke down at Glacier Point in Yosemite. I thought I was completely screwed with a bike that was going no where, in a very inconvenient part of the park. I called up James and he immediately answered and agreed to give me a tow out of the park to Mariposa for a very fair price, where I was planning on getting a hotel and renting a Uhaul to get the bike back to SF. By the time James arrived it was almost midnight (not his fault and he told me well in advance) it was pitch black. He expertly loaded up my bike and did a masterful job tying it down to his trailer. He knew exactly what to do with the bike to make sure it was secure and not to damage it. He was repeatedly checking the bike as we were leaving and every time stopped to make sure it was doing well. James then offered to go above and beyond in a way that you would never expect a tow truck driver to do. He offered to take me all the way to SF right then. We negotiated an extremely fair price (about the same as a tow to Mariposa, uhaul rental, gas, hotel, etc) and set out immediately. James expertly navigated all the roads out of Yosemite, while constantly being cognizant of the bike's welfare. We drove all night and had a great time. James is a very safe driver and we made it to SF the next morning and unloaded the bike. There was absolutely ZERO damage on the bike from James tie downs and the 250 miles journey across California. I cannot recommend James enough. If you have issues in the Yosemite area, you cannot find a better guy to help you out. read more

Aaa contacted and paid MMA to tow our vehicle that broke down in Yosemite at the point of contact with MMA we had been waiting for 3 hours for a tow. MMA said it would be 2 hours to get to us which was an eta of 2am and here we are at 3:38am and MMA has not showed and now they are not answering their phone. My husband, 6 year old daughter and myself will now be stranded until after 8am because of MMA mess up we no longer have any other options. The worst experience and completely unprofessional. All I know is what my 20 yr old daughter (with her boyfriend) told me. The names she gave me are James & Eric from MMA Towing. They were driving the hills of Yosemite when their brakes started smoking while driving a '90 Buick Century loaded down with camping equipment. They were towed to a garage where they had the brakes reglazed and lectured on how to drive in the mountains (NOT with a foot on the brake). When I called him to explain what I noticed he denied and said it wasn't like that then hung up on me! Then sent me a long message that he was doing me a favor! Great service, extremely reliable. My car got stuck on a washed out fire road at 11pm. I called several locations - AAA couldn't help, Valley Garage was unavailable, no luck from NPS. Well I'm a little bummed because I forgot the guys name but he was super nice and genuinely cared about my safety and wanted to help. He asked me what was wrong with the car and wanted to help me get it started before he had to tow it. Luckily he worked his magic and got my car running within like 3 minutes. He also got to my location within maybe 10 minutes from the time we ended the phone call. He didn't want to charge me but I gave him some money because he was super helpful and just overall the friendliest tow truck driver I've ever encountered. He was very friendly and even gave me a tour of Mariposa to show me where the bus stop was I would need to go to in a few hours, got me a printed schedule for the bus because there wasn't cell reception, and introduced me to the concierge at the Miners Inn, who was also very nice and allowed me to wait there out of the cold for a couple hours before the first bus of the day would depart from around the corner. I got my back two wheels stuck in mud around 7:30 pm. We tried to get out for a good hour or two and then gave up and called AAA. They said they'd be there in 87 minutes. When I'd call back to check in, I kept getting AAA automated service counting down how soon they'd be there. That time came and went. When I called back after the no-show, they said they couldn't send anyone because the icy road conditions. This was now about 11 at night. I had my teenage niece and nephew and we were stranded. I called MMA towing and James drove an hour to meet us. He took me to a hotel and took care of getting my truck unstuck during the night while we slept. When we woke up, the car was parked in the hotel parking lot and the keys were at the front desk for us. BEYOND the call of service. He was so sweet and took such great care of us.
