So many delicious proteins to choose from from slow roasted kalua pig, crispy katsu chicken, shrimp tempura or the yummy char grill chicken options like teriyaki or my personal favorite, pulehu chicken. The macaroni salad is addictive and you can swap out rice for brown rice and/or veggies. All of the accompanying sauces are spectacular as well. Update: Well, I was hoping things would have improved, but they did not. I used the BOGO offer that was being given out during their grand opening, I knew what I did not want a repeat of my first visit. I decided on the: KĀLUA PIG: I will say, it was good and seasoned well, but it was way too salty. I'd suggest, if you choose this protein (hopefully, yours will not be salty) make sure you get extra sauce. We didn't eat it all in one sitting, but it would have been nice to have additional sauce, for the leftovers. Macaroni Salad: Bland, mayo heavy, nothing changed. They need to reach out to Hawaiian Bros, but there can only be one. KATSU CHICKEN: I was skeptical to get their chicken again, but I assumed their fried chicken would have been a better choice and fully cooked, unlike their Pulehu Chicken. I was wrong. Like some of the other comments and as you can see in my picture, this was way overcooked and not edible in the least. Someone also mentioned, this could be due to cooking everything in batches, this is always bound to happen with some batches. When originally ordering, I was going to get the steak, but didn't know there's an upcharge for the steak. Unless I missed it, you do not find out until you're at the register. I knew this because, I originally wanted the steak and ordered two of those. As I showed the coupon, I was charged an additional $4.00, just for getting the steak. Because of the my previous experience, I didn't want to pay anything additional. After speaking to the manager about my previous experience, and the lack of detail when charging extra for the steak; I did mention Austin and asked to speak with him, and the manager had no clue as to who he was. I found that to be odd, considering he responds to the reviews online and is the business manager. I was also surprised to see when he took the two made containers of steak, they were not immediately disposed of. Glad this location is close by. Have a little more variety than Hawaiian bros. Even during lunch service was quick probably spent less than 5 minutes getting my food. This is my review based off the drive thru experience. I ordered 2 regular plates, includes 2 meats, rice and macaroni salad. We tried the teriyaki steak, teriyaki chicken, and katsu chicken. The steak was good but for $1.99 up-charge I expected a little more. There was plenty of teriyaki chicken, though. Both had great flavor and char. The katsu chicken lacked flavor, I would not get that again. The macaroni salad was decent, not too much flavor. The interaction through the drive thru speaker was not the best. I do want to mention I am a super patient person and understanding, especially with the food service industry, but there needs to be more training on interacting with customers while taking orders. It did seem like there were a lot of teenagers working, and we all start somewhere. But I hope management addresses that aspect. Soft opening!! Great service, super friendly and easy take out. Food was delicious. My only complaint is the portion of the rice is a bit tiny for the amount of meat they give, this is good for meat lovers! I think portion wise, it is enough if you eat the meats with the mac and the salad; I just prefer to eat the meats with mostly rice. I've been up to Mo'Bettahs twice at this point. I managed to swing by during their opening where they had a pre-determined regular plate going out to everyone that swung by. I don't really take that visit into consideration because it was an opening day special day. Outside of the fact the staff did amazing keeping meals coming out in a reasonable time in the drive thru. Though it did give me guidance that I would want the veggies over the Mac Salad the next time I swung by ... because the Mac Salad was very Mayo forward and as a fellow Yelper mentioned, pretty bland. When I swung by with my husband for my next visit we opted for dine in. Staff did amazing taking care of customers. Unfortunatly the food didn't quite hit. Of the 4 meat options between our two regular plates, I think only the Katsu chicken was decent enough to order again. Though we have a couple other Hawaiian style restaurants, as well as many Japanese ones, that offer that. I think the thing that would bring me back to Mo' Bettahs is that they offer POG juice. While I would like it a bit more chilled than it was, it was the thing that genuinely would make me want to come back. Otherwise we have two other options right here to compete with them. read more

I had seen that Mo' Bettahs had moved into what is half of the old Dickies BBQ location on Precinct Line. Coming to compete with Hawaiian Bros, another chain, and a locally owned Pineapple Grill. We had decided too stop by recently. Staff gets 5 stars because they took care of their consistent stream of costumers well, and while maintaining friendly professionalism. We got two regular places, three kinds of chicken and one steak between the plates. Of the three the Katsu chicken was the best. Though there are a number of other restaurants nearby that offer that. The other two chicken options we got between our two regular plates two of them seemed exactly the same except for the sauce. Teryaki came with sauce already on it, along with some on the side. The Pulehu didn't come with sauce on it but a sauce on the side. You could tell it was dark meat thigh with the bits of fat we tasted. The steak was pretty generic. We both got steamed veggies and brown rice, the veggies were just normal steamed veggies ... neither one of us finished our rice. Based on the food, especially if this is how it is as close to opening but not being right on top of opening, I don't see us going without one of their deals that they seem to be sending out to bring folks in to try them out for the first time. I think at most my wife would come back for POG juice. read more

Pulehu Chicken was chargrilled with a nice flavor and portions were large on the regular orders. Two people could easily eat from one regular order. The Kailua pig pork was tender, but even better with a little more salt. Same goes for the Mac salad, it was much better with extra salt. I went twice last week and both times were amazing. I like how they use the thighs. It keeps the chicken juicy and gives it more flavor. I got the teriyaki chicken and pulehu chicken. The teriyaki chicken and the pulehu chicken tasted like I cooked it on my charcoal grill very amazing flavors. My next visit, I got the teriyaki steak and the pulled pork. The stake was so tender and flavorful and it tastes like I cooked it on my charcoal grill. Now the pork is the hidden gem there is so much flavor, it's so tender and juicy. Everything is cooked fresh in front of you.They do it like how Chipotle does when they serve. They are very generous with the meat. I have found my new Hawaiian place. I am new to the area and recently tried this establishment for the first time. What a delight! Now I find myself craving the food atleast once a week! My favoring choices are the delicious teriyaki chicken and the savory shrimp tempura. The macaroni and spring rolls are also a perfect pair for both meals. The Ohana meal easily feeds my family of four with some leftovers to happily enjoy again the next day. The service was good, even though the guy was a little quiet...he answered all our questions. The steak was good for fast food, it wasn't dry and was tender. Pork and chicken were both dry...not sure how you can overcook chicken thighs but they did. The rice wasn't seasoned and was bland. Mac salad was bland and under seasoned as others have mentioned..heavy on the mayonnaise. Personally, I'll stick with Pineapple Grill up the road. Excited that they opened up here in Hurst ! Went in to order about 5-6 people were working horsing around with each other. Waited until someone noticed a customer was waiting to order. They were out of teriyaki chicken so I asked what can I get instead of teriyaki chicken since I ordered the Teri/katsu meal. She said steak so I did. Well while I was checking out I was charged for both my meals an additional 1.99 for steak. I mentioned it to the girl checking me out and you would have thought I asked for her first born.
