For US prices, this place was a steal! $20 for a full body, strong (or whatever pressure) Swedish massage for 90 min?! What?! We were also allowed to see the room in which you will stay at which is basically one big dark room that every customer shares and is divided with dark curtains. The massage bed is a soft velvet arm chair that converts to a bed with an opening to place your face in like any regular massage place. Overall, it was a great experience. The process is that they will choose a person for you and the patron will wash your feet upon entering the dark room. Please don't take off your bottom underwear!!! Lay on the bed as they massage your back and front. Calming music plays but yes you can hear people chatting from afar. The workers do not talk unless they need to ask you or their co-workers for anything. They speak Bisaya, Tagalog and English. At the end of your session, don't forget to ask the person who massaged you for their name in case you forget who to tip after paying. Good service means giving some extra money. Cash only. In favt, they have close to 20 massage clinics scattered all over the city. I opted to try Grand Royale Spa because I'm a big fan of their clinic in Cebu (near Capitol). The location is a bit difficult to find since the signage is small and is way up the top of the building. Just look for Qualfon's building and it's just across. It's on the 3rd floor, on top of a coffee in the same building. When you step inside, you'll be welcomed by a rather dark but tastefully decorated reception area. The clinic is decidedly Asian-inspired with huge portrait of a Buddha (or atleast that's what I think that was). There's also a small fountain/pond area just below the Buddha. The receptionist is very friendly. She even gave me a discouny because I went in just before the promo ended. I paid php278.00 instead of php320.00 I was ushered into a smallish room with a massage table. They do have an undergarment/shorts you can change into before the massage starts. They even have a wash basin you can soak your feet into. The masseur I got was very good. Too good. I think he was too eager to get rid of all my "lamig". Overall, I'm very satisfied with the massage and I will definitely be back once I'm in Dumaguete again.

My son's only disappointment was that he fell asleep during his massage. It was his first so I had to tell him that that's sometimes a good thing. Haha This Thai massage is priced very well, like Thai Boran. It is kinda hidden behind The Academy for International Culinary Arts and the Burger Joint, though, so I'd have never noticed it except for the fact that the Thai Boran down the road was closed (for the month?!). It smells great when you walk in, they offer the best Thai stretching massage I had while in Cebu, and they give you tea at the end. All of this for like 200php. The spa had that distinct Grand Royal Spa look. The lobby which doubled as the reception area was spacious. There were a few couches you can lounge on while waiting for your name to be called. Magazines are also readily available from the small coffee tables should you wish to read up while waiting too - the magazines are old though. You won't have any problem keeping your privacy because the massage area is huge! The massage table was soft and smelled of clean linen. What I really love was their therapists. They all look competent and always had on a big smile. I felt good seeing the therapist looked happy because I know I will get a good massage and i was right. The therapist went on to give me a superb rub down. I came in feeling weak and tired from work and went out feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Grand Royal Spa Bacolod offers a variety of spa services but if it's massage you want, it's just php320/hour. With a certain degree of confidence, I stress 'Manila-trained' here as best because: 1. after living in the NCR for 4.5 years, 8.5 years in the Visayas, and travelling throughout the Philippines, I came to know that the full-body work in the big city far exceeds the quality of most massages in the provinces: in Mla they tend to focus on what you ask them to do more effectively, usually do belly and chest work, will work your glutes better than those trained in smaller centers, will walk on your back if it helps, and overall do better work on all body parts; 2. personally trained by a Manila RMT (Registered Massage Therapist) for 3.5 months, and, after getting over 2000 massages in the past few decades, I can compare great from fair, asian from western work; 3. one of the best massages in Canada recently was by a filipina trained in Manila: to their credit, pinay tend to be more 'feel and rhythm' than most anatomically-aware technique-trained caucasians; 4. the few best therapists in the pinoy provinces tend to be highly-gifted: they tend to create on the fly, intuitively 'feeling' their way across the landscape of your body. Accordingly, the best will stop to work on a 'cold' or hard muscle, fibre, or area, and may even go overtime so that clients go away slightly sore but 'body-happy.' 5. as of late 2019, apparently Laila will double as trainer to the other staff to also equip them in Manila techniques. Good move. Although at times too loud. unvaried and choppy, the music at this spa is relaxingly oriental asian. Their mattresses are long and solid and quiet, and the cubical/rooms as good as it gets. In general, staff are quieter than most run-of-the-mill spas. The front desk at times can be late to open up at 1pm, but is pretty good in accommodating your needs: I don't get it that only one therapist shows up then; surely at least 2 should start then with a couple more to follow at 2 pm? After all, likely not paid hourly rates, does it not make sense to be present to get your 60-90 pesos per session plus tips? Call ahead for an appointment esp. in the evening? Lots of folx come after work and supper... You won't get extra service at Royal Caress, nor should you ask for it. Please refer to my previous review for a few more details. You won't be disappointed when you get one of these four fine pinay body workers, and the others are as good as elsewhere for a variety of massage services.
