Even though we had a very large down payment and excellent credit, it took 6 months to complete the transaction. We began the transaction in June of 2020 and it was not complete until December 2020. This should have been our first clue to look elsewhere. I truly wish we had made the decision to seek a different company to purchase our home. The manufactured home we purchased was used, so we were not expecting any updates or unreasonable accessories. When we were finally able to move into the home, we found it to be in desperate need of cleaning. The cleaning required was trash and grime left by the previous owners. Had I been the manger of Big Sky Homes, I would have paid a cleaning crew to go in and do some basic cleaning. Customer service was not a consideration with this company, which brings me to the real reason for this review. Over the last couple of years, we have discovered just how much this company appears to lack in caring for their customers. The very first winter, we discovered that when the house was placed on the foundation, there had been no weatherizing done to the plumbing; our pipes froze. We got through the first winter. In January 2022, my husband had a heart attack and had 5 open heart surgeries within that month, along with several mild strokes. I only put this in my review to explain our situation with the ongoing issues we are having with this company and their lack of customer care. My husband spent most of 2022 in the hospital. Unfortunately, our problems with the shoddy workmanship with this house, intensified our already over stressed lives. My husband was finally able to come home for a while in December 2022. On Christmas morning, I had done a load of laundry only to walk into my guest bathroom and discover disaster had struck again. As I walked into the bathroom, I was greeted with raw sewage coming up from my tub and and out of my toilet. I was extremely upset. I was not just upset because I had to clean this mess, but my husband is very medically fragile and is susceptible to infection. Our son, crawled under our home on the frozen ground, only to discover that the skeptic line had fallen to the ground and was frozen with sewage, thus causing this to back-up into our home. Our son was able to put a heat lamp on the septic pipe and got it to thaw. However, he also discovered that the septic line had been held up with ZIP-TIES!!! Of course, Zip-Ties should only be used as a temporary measure, as they will get brittle and break. Unfortunately, what we did not know at that time, was that the raw sewage had run down my bathroom vent and gathered in the underbelly of the house. This was not discovered until April of 2023, during the spring thaw. I contacted Big Sky Homes about the poor workmanship and the damage resulting from the installation with Zip-Ties. I was basically told that this was not their problem and that they were within the Montana code for used manufactured homes. I will NOT tell anyone that they should not buy from this company, but I do suggest that they personally or professionally inspect for damage to the home during the move and installation on the property. From a personal stand point, I will NEVER recommend Big Sky Homes.

Financing through them in our opinion is not worth additional fees they tack on. Not to mention it took 3 months to close! The delivery driver ran our home aground (a separate driver who moved the home said "this happens all the time, home owners aren't usually here to see this" - Charles of C&L transportation). Inspections were signed off on before any inspection had been done. Money had been paid to Sam Peila of Prairie Builders without even discussing the work with us. Money was paid to Sam Peila for work that had never been started. Big Sky Homes of Billings referred us to a contractor they work with regularly Sam Peila Prairie Builders LLC. The home was brought out before any utilities were set up for the home. Delivery date was set up by Sam Peila and Corey Stovall. The home was run aground by the delivery driver, Ellestad Co LLC causing significant damage to the exterior and interior of the home. Damage included the hitch, lateral supports, siding, drywall, caulk, grout, floor bowed in kitchen. Big Sky Homes of Billings took the home back VIN#290000HA002561A highland foundation. The home sat blocking our access road for 26 days before it was moved. Sam Peila did not comply with setback codes of the foundation and drainfield even after we expressed our concerns. Sam Peila told us this was fine and to have our front porch posts straddle the drainfield lines. A structural engineer we hired said the foundation or septic drainfield would need to be relocated. Cost for us to fix estimated $2400.00. The backdoor to the home was unusable due to the steep slope. A structural engineer said the foundation would fail without fixing the slope. Cost for us to fix is estimated $1,500.00. Sam Peila also placed a 2300 gallon cistern directly in the path of home delivery site, then Sam asked for $1,000 to correct. Sam frequently no showed and rescheduled. Sam attempted to double charge for work in our original bid. Sam attempted to charge an hourly rate without any documentation to back this up. We documented his hours and can say what he did provide was incorrect. Sam wanted to run a new water line instead of using a brand new water line already installed. Sam asked for our WiFi password so he could make a phone call. He ended up going into our modem and broadcasting an unsecured WiFi hotspot without our permission. Big Sky Homes of Billings has defended this contractors work to this day. We asked to have the home completely inspected per the advice of a structural engineer and Big Sky Homes of Billings refused so we had to ask to have the home removed. This has been the longest and worst home buying experience we have had. A year later lawyers are involved and nothing is resolved.
