Disgusting coffee. Rude staff. I will not recommend this place and will not be a return customer.

Being from the Twin Cities, it was great to see familiar brands like Peace Coffee. In addition to fresh local produce, you can purchase flowers, seasonal items such as pumpkins, and other household essentials. We enjoyed the sweet treats that we purchased. Our favorite was the Danish and pumpkin donut.

This morning my wife stopped by SuperFresh to grab an assortment of donuts for my mom's birthday…read moreand came back with the kind of wide-eyed, stunned delight I usually only see after she's tasted something she made herself. (She's a patisserie chef--so that's saying something.) The donuts were so fresh you could literally see the glaze still dripping down the sides when she was ordering. Not in a sloppy, rushed way--more like a slow-motion food commercial where the timing is perfect and everything looks a little too good to be real. Except it was real. Very real. The guy at the counter was thoughtful enough to layer wax parchment between each donut because the frosting and glaze were that fresh. That alone should earn him a promotion and a key to the city. Everyone working was friendly, helpful, and seemed like they actually wanted to be there, which, let's be honest, isn't always the case in food service. Now--beyond the baked goods (which would be worth a stop on their own)--SuperFresh is something else entirely. It's a bakery, yeah, but it's also a locally sourced grocery store and a legit garden center. The kind of place you stop at for one thing and end up leaving with dinner ingredients, a hanging basket, a donut or three, and a weird sense that you've stumbled into something special. It's not just "support local" performative--these folks have been doing it since the 1940s. They compost all their food waste with local farmers. They banned single-use plastic bags over a decade ago. Their rain gardens capture five thousand gallons of water per storm to protect local rivers. I mean... they're doing more good in one thunderstorm than some businesses do in a fiscal year. If you're from around here, you probably already know about SuperFresh. If you're not, you should make a point to fix that. This place is the real deal--fresh food, good people, and a long-standing commitment to doing things the right way. In summary: the donuts are insane, the staff actually care, and my wife came back grinning like she just found pastry Mecca. Five stars. (P.S. If you happen to run into me in line and you're not sure what to get, just say the word. I'll probably have already picked out too many and can point you toward something life-changing.) -- That guy named James

The shop is small, but offers donuts, cake boss cakes, soda, mouse/cheesecake bowls, and canned coffee. We felt a little awkward because while we were the only people in the shop, the staff seemed preoccupied. The donuts were a little dry, but the prices matched the quality. It would be a good place to bring kids for the price and selection.

I stumbled upon this place and needed to grab us some when we were venturing to Mankato! They are located near the U of Mankato and in a great strip mall with a bunch of other food places. It was awesome! I went inside and saw the Krusty's and donut decor and loved it. It had its moments for those instagram pics. Too bad we grabbed ours to go and were in a hurry. They didn't have a ton of choices, but more than I expected for 8pm on a Friday. We will be back to get the Homer donut. (Recommended to come in morning for more selection). Donuts we tried: - Blueberry Pie Long John- tasty and pretty color. I would have loved more in the inside or blueberry filling. It was filled with some of the icing. -Apple Pie Long John - this one was one of my favs! It tasted like a McDonald's apple pie and a donut had a baby. Yummy! -Strawberry Icing Cake Donut- this was no frills and glorious. I enjoy cake donuts and it was just right! The icing had a berrylicious flavor and I would get again. -Strawberry Frosting with Fruity Pebbles- this was a raised donut and we love Fruity Pebbles, but this was a meh for me. I think it was because we got it late, but the Fruity pebbles were stale. It didn't have as much flavor as we hoped for. Overall, the gal working was helpful and served us well. I would recommend and would come back earlier next time to see the full variety, but I was impressed what they had at this late in the eve!

One thing to note is that the address for Drift Dough isn't the address for Old Abe's Coffee, and I am not sure if that's an address for the bakery or something, but all signs pointed towards the donut shop being inside Old Abe's, so that's where we went. I got the ube donut (the purple one), and as someone originally from Hawaii, it was really great to see ube flavor is making it out to the Midwest now! The flavor is not super strong in the donut, so if you haven't had ube before, I think this would be a nice, mild introduction. My husband got the raised Tiramisu donut, and while he liked it, it's definitely bigger than the cake donuts and was a bit too much donut and frosting for him, but your mileage may vary (I like to think my stomach has a special compartment just for donuts, because it always seems that way, LOL). We got a nice cold brew with oat milk to wash the donuts down, and we will definitely be back next time we're in town!
