This branch is located inside Mitsuwa; to the left when you walk in...past Hokkaido Ramen Santouka. They do a great job with the Mochi Donuts here. The Mochi Cupcakes are also very good. While this isn't a standalone venue, the menu here seems to be expanding frequently. In addition to their standard Mochi Donuts they keep adding new items. Not that I'm complaining...just an observation. Actually I'm ecstatic! I haven't seen some of these creative new items before. #Sugar ~ Matcha Mochisada - 5/5 These were amazing. Not too sweet or bitter, perfectly balanced Matcha cream on the inside. ~ Mochi Cupcake Black Sesame - 4/5 Excellent flavor. Not too sweet or bitter and the texture is spot on; delightfully chewy without being too dry. I prefer the Cupcakes over the donuts, better texture for me. ~ Matcha BRIOCHE - 4/5 Another brilliant creation. Mochi Brioche with Matcha cream filling. Delish! Can't wait to see what else they're going to come up with.
Mitsuwa is a regular stop for our family. We buy all of the Japanese ingredients, snacks, treats, and fresh local tofu from Gombei that I grew up eating. It has one of our favorite ramen places (Santouka-separately reviewed). I'm not a big fan of sweets, and the mochi donuts at other places that I've tried before were good, but too sweet and densely chewy for me. I was looking for some special treats for friends, and I got a half dozen mochi donuts from Mochill inside of Mitsuwa. When I tried strawberry mochi donut, I was very impressed with how light and airy it was, and I could taste the fresh strawberries without it being overly sweet. I'm definitely going to be trying the other mochi donuts next time we're at Mitsuwa!
I was searching for good mochi donuts and I found it at mochill mochi! This is a little stand tucked inside the Mitsuwa marketplace. I almost missed it! I love the variety of Christmas theme donuts! I got the strawberry Xmas tree and the salted caramel reindeer. The Strawberry Xmas tree is so good that I can eat it all day! There's a bit of tanginess in the frosting so that it doesn't taste too sugary. It also comes with a cookie bottom! It's the most delicious and elaborate donut I've ever had! Salted caramel reindeer was good but it was hard to taste the salted caramel part. I also ordered a gift box of 6 online. All very fun flavors!
While we were walking inside Mitsuwa, we decided to get some mochi donuts as dessert since we haven't had them in a while. This is my first time trying Mochill Mochi Donut and overall we liked it! They have several different flavors to choose from. We decided to get two tarp, two strawberry, and two matcha flavor mochi donuts. Our order was prepared in a timely manner, but upon opening the box of goodies, I was sad to see that I received a smooshed donut. I wish the employee asked me if it was okay or at least tell me about it prior to giving it to me. Taste wise, the mochi was perfect. It was chewy and the flavors were there. The matcha flavor is a bit bland, so I'd rate it a 4/5. The taro was a 5/5 for me as the flavor was just right with a kick of coconut sprinkles. The strawberry was a tad too sweet for me, but the flavor was great, so I'm giving it a 4.5/5, but overall delicious. Inside the mall, there are seats and tables with transparent dividers in between for you to enjoy your food. There's not much to say ambiance wise since it's inside a supermarket, but overall it was clean and not extremely noisy. If you're nearby and craving for mochi donuts, you know where to go!
I am not big on kochi donuts but when they come out nice and warm then they are pretty good. We ordered: Glazed: not much flavor, not too sweet Salted caramel: a little more flavor than glazed Chocolate brownie: this was the best of the 3 because it came out warm and chewy. A little on the sweet side. If you see them taking them out of the oven then order that type whatever the flavor is. Trust me.
Attached to the Yama-chan Takoyaki shop in the Mitsuwa food court (and sharing the same ordering counter) you're basically able to order from both at the same time. It's got a fairly simple, but clean front. There's quite a bit of competition in the court though as it's surrounded by a bunch of other sweets stores, so I was wondering how it held up. Not bad for a quick snack while you're running errands, but not entirely optimal mochi donuts either. I opted for a small Matcha mochi donut as a nice finisher to a bowl of ramen and it's generally a decent donut: nice and chewy mochi based batter and a subtle matcha flavoring without it being too sweet. It didn't taste like it was the freshest as it was a bit dry and not as springy as mochi can be though so I wasn't impressed beyond the basics. They also have mochi cupcakes, but I feel like OG donuts are where it's at. Either way there are bulk discounts for multiples (6pc and 12pc for donuts, 4/6/12 for the cupcakes) and single donuts were less than $3 when I went.
Conveniently placed inside Mitsuwa! After shopping for grocery, it's an easy quick stop (unless there's a line). They usually have only one worker for both takoyaki and donuts, so you'll definitely need some time and patience. + Lots of variety! They hardly rotate the flavors they offer, but they have so many different flavors. You could come various times and try a different kind of donut every time. + Firm texture. Pretty chewy and soft mochi dough, but it definitely has a firmness to it. I personally really like the texture since it has a good bite to it.
I am a sucker for anything mochi because I love the texture -- Mochill sure hit the spot with their delicious mochi donuts and cupcakes! This location is in Mitsuwa Marketplace, and I can imagine the place getting busy on the weekends for sure. We arrived at around 11AM on a Sunday and there was already a decent line for Mochill. Nonetheless, the line moved fast and they give you your order right when you place it at the counter. I got just one mochi donut and one mochi cupcake but I can't wait to go back for more! The matcha oreo donut was slightly crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, and the matcha & oreo topping paired perfectly together. The mochi cupcake is a bit more dense just because of how much thicker it is than the donut, but I enjoyed it just the same with a light layer of black sesame glaze on top :)
I like their mochi donuts and cupcakes! The mochi donuts have more balanced flavor as there is a good ratio of topping to mochi in them. The cupcakes are dense. I love the density of them as it reminds of sheet mochi from aloha fresh. The flavor is packed onto the frosting on the cupcakes. I asked the attendant which was most popular and she said strawberry so I went with that and a fruity pebbles one. Strawberry is definitely the better flavor of these two. It's stronger and pairs best with the density of the mochi which you want as the mochi in the cupcakes is not flavored. I've even back twice since
The location was inside a food court by the supermarket with lots of food and dessert options. Got the cafe mocha donut and choco berry cupcake. It was my first time trying the mochi cupcake, which was dense and rubbery but I love anything chocolate so it was okay. The donut's texture was chewy and tasted fresh good but the flavor was just okay for me, will try other flavors next time (prob the cookies n cream or black sesame). The sweetness level was perf, not too sweet!
Seriously the best mochi donuts. I used to think Modo was good until I had Mochill. I am a Mochill fan for life! This is one of the very few desserts that I have no control around. I will straight up eat 4 donuts in one sitting. I have also eaten a dozen box by myself. My favorite flavors are oreo and peanut butter and jelly but they haven't had them in a couple months. Other faves are dark chocolate, hojicha, and black sesame. My bf loves the fruity pebbles one.
Mmm, mochi donuts! Nice chewy texture with a good amount of flavorful icing. The donut is light and fun to pull apart. The flavors are strong and distinct. My favorite out of the bunch ordered was probably black sesame, although they were all good. The flavor was wonderfully nutty. The dark chocolate was also a top contender as the chocolate was rich and melted nicely in the mouth. Strawberry was surprisingly pretty sour (!) I'm usually a fan of sour stuff, but I was kind of expecting something much sweeter. Hojicha flavor was very deep; roasted nuttiness. I think if there was more of the sweet icing on top, it would help with the flavor balance as I found it a bit too bitter. Matcha was not bad, good balance of flavor. (Right amount of sweet and matcha-ness). Overall pretty tasty mochi donut shop inside Mitsuwa!
Know what cheers me up? Color, and lots of it! My favorite mochi doughnut from Mochill is the fruity & crunchy Fruity Pebbles! It has a creamy white chocolate glaze base, topped with a rainbow of crunchy cereal. Make sure to eat this day of or seal it in a ziplock to prevent stale cereal. Mochill mochi donuts are prepared early in the morning, but they still hold up very well throughout the day, no greasiness or weird texture after a couple hours. They offer lots of flavors and some change with the season. I've ordered: Black Sesame Cookies n Cream Matcha Mango Strawberry Hojicha (roasted green tea) Taro w/ coconut flakes Fruity Pebbles Nutella Choco Almond This location also offers mochi cupcakes! Texture is much more dense (think mochi bars/muffins) but still chewy. They start off with their signature mochi cake base + add flavored dips like the donuts. I've tried: fruity pebbles, matcha, black sesame, and cookies n cream. Order/pick up some today for an end of the work week treat.

The Donuts are great. Light yet chewy without being dense or doughy. It's surprising and completely a joy to eat. Lightly glazed, not too sweet. Will have again! Cupcakes? location/parking: in mitsuwa marketplace. parking is always kinda a nightmare on weekends. I tend to go on weeknights to avoid lines. price: around $2.50-$3 per mochi donut. kinda pricey but it's so cute and aesthetic looking hahah atmosphere: in the food court so it's always bustling. There's always a line here, so get ready to wait. I suggest bringing another person so you can switch out lol. One person browses the supermarket while one can wait in line. food: one of the best mochi donuts i've tried around the bay area. They always taste fresh and the the fried part doesn't leave an oily aftertaste. I think it's such a good dessert if you don't want something cold. The mochi texture is soooooo good too! last remarks: my personal faves are the matcha and black sesame ones! read more

Inside Mitsuwa is Mochill Mochi Donuts. Last week, my hub & I decided to venture out of fog town to where the sun actually shines. (Note: We only deal with the heat for good friends lol)! We ran into this spot by chance & even though we were all kinds of full, nothing will ever stop us from dessert! So with that, we give you (starting from the top down, left to right): Mango - satisfied the majority! Hot Cheetos- an acquired taste. Cookies & Cream (there's no oreo emoji!) - tasted as expected. Cinnamon Sugar - safe choice. Strawberry Cream- yum! Hojicha - more like seaweed than green tea. Pro: Texture, taste (for most), & definitely less heavy & sweet compared to American donuts. Con: They didn't have a lot in stock that was on their menu & it wasn't clear what was available until you reached the front of the line. But...overall, life's too short & is better lived w/sweets & a smile! read more
I ordered a dozen mochi donuts ($30). This was my first time trying a mochi donut so I ordered one of each flavor. Pricey, but as expected for a novelty donut. Aesthetics were on point. Ample parking in the Mitsuwa plaza. Shop was located inside Mitsuwa; food court to the left. Ordering was a breeze. They have a large TV displaying the different flavors as well as a display case by the checkout counter. Service was super friendly & efficient. read more
Yay another mochi donut place in the South Bay! I think it's pretty on par with MoDo and other places. I personally like their donut to frosting ratio because you can actually taste the flavor (vs. it being more subtle at MoDo). Taro Donut - tasted like white chocolate..? but good consistency Strawberry Donut - not overly sweet. would recommend! Cookies N Cream Donut - my least favorite of the bunch, too sweet and too much going on Hojicha Donut - my favorite! tasted basically like a mocha. definitely recommend this if you like coffee! We were craving mochi donuts for dinner, but the place we wanted was closed for the day so we decided to give Mochill a chance. We ordered half a dozen of mochi donuts (Hojicha, Black Sesame, Matcha Oreo, Matcha, Dark Choco, Strawberry) + 1 mochi cupcake (Cookies N Cream). My favorite out of the 6 was the hojicha. The consistency of the donut itself was chewy, but not as fresh as I'd like. It felt like the donuts itself were pre-made. Some glazed flavors were pre-dipped as well, but a couple were freshly dipped. I do really enjoy the mochi cupcake though. Overall, I'd say this place is a 3.5 star (taste-wise), but rounding it down since the mochi donuts felt average & I've had better ones out there. I do recommend checking this place out if you're in the area though. read more
I was so bummed I missed my chance to get free donuts from this location...what a rough week last week was. But, since I had a chance to celebrate my Niece's graduation from Elementary School, she joined me for a day of eating. Our first stop (before sushi) was to try this elusive Mochi cupcake. We ordered the dozen pack of donuts, and my favorite were probably the mango, cinnamon and sugar, and black sesame. The donuts were fresh and very tasty, but didn't quite live up to the same amazement I felt when I tried my first Mochi donut at Modo. The Mochi cupcakes were quite interesting, definitely worth a try, but not an experience I necessarily need to have again. I think I enjoy more of a textural contrast when I'm eating Mochi, so I'd prefer a crisp waffle, with the chewy goodness you love about Mochi. Overall, the sweetness level balanced well with the Mochi donuts. I think I'd prefer more citrus options like a Yuzu or pomelo to add a bit more brightness, and flavor complexity to the collection of flavors they have. And perhaps, I enjoy getting some rotating options, so there is a bit of chance in what I might get to enjoy the day I decide to splurge for this treat. read more

Best Mochi donuts in the States? First time trying this place out in Mitsuwa and I was so surprised by the flavor and consistency. Came on a weekend during dinnertime and was surprised to see that there was kind of a long line, but I can definitely see why because the donuts are delicious! - Hojicha - Definitely my favorite one out of the two. The flavor, especially when its right out of the oven, is so good but the star has to be the mochi donut. The donut itself super chewy, almost like if you were just eating plain mochi but still has a bit of the bread texture which I like. - Matcha Oreo - More oreo than matcha flavor, but still very delicious. I love how it just melts on top of the mochi bread which counteracts the sweetness of the topping. Overall, highly recommend when in the Mitsuwa plaza. The mochi consistency is awesome! read more

REALLY GOOD even though they aren't made fresh to order. I like that these donuts are more chewier than MoDo's and their black sesame isn't overpowering! I got Strawberry, Cinnamon Sugar, Dark Chocolate, Nutella, Chocolate Almond, and Black Sesame. You can't go wrong with any flavor, mochi donuts are the best! My favorite would have to be Chocolate Almond. Love that it's in Mitsuwa with a bunch of other Japanese eateries too. read more
Rating - 4 Stars Slightly firmer than MoDo, but still soft with a light chew; just not as pillowy soft. Nothing was too sweet or heavy either so be sure to order multiple cause you're gonna finish one quick! From what I tried, here's how I'd rank from good to best: MATCHA was the most subtle in flavor and you actually taste more of the fried donut flavor instead (which I actually like and don't necessarily consider it a bad thing). If you typically stray away from matcha due to that signature bitterness, you might enjoy this STRAWBERRY reminded me of strawberry pocky so it has that artificial note to it, but in a good nostalgic kinda way MANGO had the most concentrated flavor so I can see people either really enjoying this, or finding it to be too much TARO tasted like real taro, and the flavor wasn't too subtle or concentrated either; just the right balance. I was worried the coconut on top would detract from its flavor, but you can actually taste mostly taro with every bite still. Though I guess you could always just brush the coconut off if you're not a fan of shredded coconut like me HOJICHA had great flavor and you're immediately hit with its roasted notes. Definitely one of my favorites MITARASHI had more of a savory flavor profile due to its sweet soy glaze, but I'm actually really digging that, especially with the seaweed on top. It'll be like Japanese dango so it makes a perfect snack (vs. feeling like you're eating a dessert). I hope this stays a permanent flavor cause it instantly became a favorite of mine I think MoDo beats them on texture and certain flavors, but you honestly can't go wrong with Mochill if that's what's more convenient; especially if it's a flavor that MoDo doesn't often have. So on that note, I would 100% order Mitarashi, Hojicha, and Taro again and would highly recommend if those are flavors you typically enjoy read more

I arrived at 12pm on a Tuesday and there was so line. Cashier was super friendly and helpful with questions. TEXTURE I really loved the texture of these mochi donuts. The outside was a tad crunchy but the inside was chewy, which is exactly what I'd expect from a mochi donut. FLAVORS Fruity pebbles - couldn't really taste the fruity pebble cereal Mango - strong flavor but a little tart, will definitely get again Oreo - light oreo flavor but not as light as fruity pebble White chocolate berry - you can taste the white chocolate but berry is faint Black sesame - i feel like you could never go wrong with black sesame, it has a light flavor for those who aren't too fond of the black sesame taste. Nutella - this one is probably my favorite out of all because I could really taste the flavor PRICE I thought 6 for $15 was an okay price but after tasting how faint these flavors were, I'm a little torn paying this much. Overall, I'd say 3.5 for price and flavors but i rounded up to 4 because i really do love the texture of the donut itself. read more

Thank you Mochill for hosting a Yelp event! It was so enjoyable being able to try the different donut flavors! All the donuts were chewy and sweet. Our favorite flavor was sesame and dark chocolate (contrary to other reviews, my donut actually had a decently thick coat of chocolate). Other notable flavors we ordered were strawberry, white chocolate berry, Nutella and fruity pebbles, which were all pretty good as well. If you're craving for mochi donuts or want a sugar rush, this is definitely the place to go! read more
I actually didn't notice Mochill until my husband pointed out that there was a long line at the food court for mochi donuts. Well, if there is a long line then it must be good! Therefore, we got our butts in line and waited and I gotta say, their line does not move fast... We decided to go for a hojicha donut and a dark chocolate donut. We also got a cookies and cream and a kinako mochi cupcake. I thought the hojicha flavor was decent but the dark chocolate was pretty lacking. I'm not sure if it's the dough that they use but overall, the mochi donut flavor just doesn't hit the mark. The texture was good though. It was the first time that we had mochi cupcakes and they were incredibly dense. The texture was interesting -- it is exactly how you would imagine it ... mochi and cake. The cookies and cream flavor was pretty good but the kinako was pretty lacking. I can't say that I was too impressed. I've had mochi donuts before and Mochill just isn't my cup of tea. read more

Another unique concept that I have never had the pleasure of trying until I came by for a Yelp event! Mochill is located in the Mitsuwa plaza to the left of the store (right next to the ramen shop). Thankfully, I came around 12pm on a Tuesday and there were only 2 people in front of me. By the time I arrived at the front of the line, I placed my order for half a dozen donuts and received them immediately. You can tell when you eat them that they're fresh and were baked recently. I actually expected the mochi donuts to be denser, but to my surprise, they were actually pretty fluffy and light! Additionally, none of the donuts were too sweet which I appreciated. - Strawberry (5/5): My favorite flavor and so happy I got two of them! You can taste a bit of tartness which I love. I wish the flavor was a bit stronger but am extremely happy with the texture of the donut (perfectly chewy, light and fluffy) - Nutella (4/5): Tastes exactly how you would expect! - Mango (4/5): You can tell that the mango flavor is real mango and not artificial flavoring - Cookies & Creme (3/5): A bit too sweet for my tastes, but it wasn't bad! The donut for this flavor was a bit more dense and more like a donut - Black sesame (3/5): I wasn't a huge fan and the donut texture was slightly denser and less fluffy than they were in other flavors. You can clearly taste the black sesame, but it just didn't suit my tastes. read more
I came here because they have different toppings/flavors than MoDo, but mainly came to try the Fruity Pebbles mochi donut :) it was good! The crunch of the cereal is a nice touch to the soft donut But for the price, I'd expect the donuts to be fresh/warm. It's nice that they have a bunch of different flavors that I'm not used to, but I stuck to the familiar flavors I gravitate towards usually. The donuts tasted like they've been sitting out, so I don't think I'd come back. There wasn't any line when I went around 6pm on Monday evening, so if you're looking for a quick mochi donut this is definitely the place! I'd just suggest warming it up for a bit in the microwave. read more

FLAVOR (4/5): Raise your hands if you love mochi donuts! I loved their wife selection of flavors on hand. Tried their black sesame (favorite), cookies and creme, strawberry, cinnamon sugar, matcha, and white chocolate berry. All were finger licking good! Only wish that they were made fresh to order to get the absolute fluffy and warm experience. INSTAGRAM WORTHY (5/5): Cuteness factor overload! I mean a ring of tiny balls in a circle with dusted toppings on colorful frosting? Count me in for a picture! Definitely going on the gram @duyoufeelhungry SERVICE (5/5): The girls there were so nice! I was greeted upon arrival, I got compliments on my hair and service was really quick! One took my order while one was already packing. Appreciate the friendliness and efficiency here! TAKEAWAYS: No lines on weekdays and definitely worth a try if you're in the supermarket plaza already! Get a variety to taste a little bit of heaven in each one. read more
I'm such a sucker for mochi treats! I bought half a dozen ($15): matcha, black sesame, hojicha (my favorite, especially since you don't see this flavor as often!), kinako/roasted soybean flour, cafe mocha, and taro. Most of the glazes' flavors were strong and not overly sweet and actually tasted more intense the day after. I couldn't really taste the taro though because the coconut flakes dominated, but good thing I like coconut! The dough was nice and chewy, fluffy, and not too greasy. These donuts were average sized, not the biggest nor smallest I've had. I've had mochi donuts, bars, and muffins before, so their concept of mochi cupcakes was new and intriguing to me. I got the dark chocolate berry, matcha, black sesame, and cookies and cream cupcakes (4 for $12), and they were honestly way better than I expected! The glazes are the same as the donuts. Despite appearing denser in the cross-section, they were chewier and bouncier. Overall, I really enjoyed Mochill's mochi donuts and cupcakes! read more
Didn't plan on getting mochi donuts but I happened to be at the next stall over for takoyaki and spotted Mochill. I remember there were crazy long lines in years past so I'm glad I didn't have to wait in line at all to order. The girl at the register was friendly and efficient. I got the hojicha, kinako, matcha, and black sesame. The donuts were bouncy and chewy. However, they didn't taste that fresh (maybe made a few hours prior since I came about 30 minutes before closing). I think the batter is the same for all donuts and it's just the glaze/ topping that gives it a different flavor. I like that the donuts aren't too sweet. My favorite of the 4 is the black sesame. I wouldn't make a special trip for this or wait hours in line, but I wouldn't mind grabbing a couple of donuts if I happen to be in the area again. read more

Interesting flavors like mitarashi and takoyaki flavor Cons: Being pre-made, the texture of the donuts are not as crunchy or chewy as fresh ones such as from MoDo. read more

My husband has the biggest sweet tooth. We both tried mochi donuts in 2020 for the first time and really liked them. This would be our second time having them and the line was pretty long. My husband ordered the dark chocolate, cinnamon sugar and black sesame. The cinnamon sugar was super good. Too good. I told him to get those things away from me cuz I told myself I'd only have one bite lol. The dark chocolate looked delicious - the way the chocolate icing was still soft and ooey gooey. It reminded me of a long John donut. I kind of had that expectation and so when I bit into it, it was kind of disappointing but can't really fault them because it's exactly what it's called - dark chocolate. It tastes exactly like a 85% cacao Lindt chocolate bar. We didn't try the black sesame yet but I'm sure it's good. The donut itself is just way too good. Crisp on the outside but soft, kinda airy somehow, moist and chewy on the inside. I could've easily finished the cinnamon sugar to myself and I don't even like sweets. read more

They have a lot of flavors to choose from and also have unique cupcake Mochis ! Ordered 6 mochi donuts : strawberry, fruity pebbles, cinnamon sugar, white chocolate berry, mango, and cookies and cream! My favorite were the cookies and cream, fruity pebbles and cinnamon sugar. So soft and doughy. They aren't as fresh as other places were they dip it in front of you, so don't expect it to be hot off the press, Nonetheless taste the same as any other mochi donut place. I also tried their mochi cupcakes in flavors : strawberry, cinnamon sugar, fruity pebbles and cookies and cream. I only liked the cinnamon sugar only since the cookies and cream and fruity pebbles topping were hard so they used hard chocolate to coat it and not like a soft type of topping which is a bummer but good thing I got to try something new. Customer service was great and friendly and you get your mochi donuts quick. Line wasn't too bad when I went since almost near when they opened but I seen as I was waiting the line got long. This is located inside the mitsuwa all the way in the corner by the ramen place. read more
