No wi-fi, no cable, no restrooms. If I am paying for a site, all three of those are mandatory. The campground itself is set next to the Merced River so there is good scenery, but the campground itself is old and worn out. I would say that' 80% plus are all permanent residents, some of their equipment in very poor condition. The roads are all gravel and my site was very un-level. I think there is good potential here, but there needs to be a lot of investment made to get this park back to a destination people will want to visit.

The RV parking is ia short walking distance from the river"s edge (hence the name) and it has two fire pits you can use till 0100. There's a male and a female bathroom (with showers) and an RV dump station too. Check-in was easy, a simple phone call, then a text message that links you to payment options and a reservation confirmation took all of about 10 minutes from start to finish. The town is small but quaint. They have a restaurant, bar, ice cream shop, and a cute little fire department. Here's where the review kinda Lost a star... Around 9 pm there were several gun shots... And again at 0120 in the morning.. Not entirely sure what's going on, but that bothers me... Call me weird, but as a solo (female) van life camper hearing gun shots near your camp site isn't what you want to experience ... Honestly the RV campground was good, but the crazy person(s) firing off weapons was something I could have done without.

After staying for nine days we found out that you had to become an escapee's member and the cost was $49. To join for one year. The park refunded this in a free night credit. While staying here we met the park manager and took a tour after finding out they are a 55+ members park. After reviewing the park information and seeing what a beautiful park this was we decided to make this our home base. We travel to many places after retirement but found that we needed a place to hang out hat for Dr. appointments, and staying connected with our family in the Central Valley. We bought in and picked our site. The unique nature of living here is that the members here all volunteer to help keep cost down to run the park. This gave us a sense of ownership and community. We volunteer 3 days per week for approximately 4 hours per day and join in on special events to help set up or organize events that are for the members. It's not like having a job but more like going to hang out with folks that have the same interests. There is constantly an event going on weather you like to play cards, pool, dominoes, darts, working out , or outdoor activities like pickle ball or mini golf the fun is endless. This amazing place has beautiful views of the Sierra foothills and there's even a casino across the mountain. Becoming a member here has given us a place to call home in between our travels and our site remains ours when we're in the park. If you're thinking of becoming a full timer or if you're looking for a great place to glamp, this is the place!

It was nice to sit and enjoy putting our feet in the pool and even appreciated the simple things-- vending machines to stay put and shopping close by as well. Right off highway 99 so makes a super easy stay while traveling. People reside there as well and as overnighters we appreciated spaces for us and the friendliness. Place a little old but has what you would need to fish. The fishing area was hard to find a spot if you're not early. Make sure you register and pay fee to enter fishing area. There were so many insects flying so make sure you have bug spray or a net. We couldn't stay. It was too much. You drive through a small community of people who camp/rent there. Looks like they are cleaning up and maybe rebuilding the area. Quiet.

It's literally across from the fishing area, picnic area, farthest from the traffic and road noise. The water has a fountain and ongoing movement of water, perhaps that's why it seems more natural looking vs stagnant and gross. Most of this area and the opposite side of the river is undeveloped so it has a nature feel that most campsites I've been to don't give. And I've been to lots of them. My Hubby and sons caught like 7, 8, and 20 fish they said. All catch and release. Tons of catfish & bass. Some are so huge. Keep staring at the water near the small metal dock there and you might see them all. We are in site 122. The road noise woke me up at 6am, so I put in my earplugs and slept until 9am. For my future self, make sure to keep a permanent earplug stash in the RV. Other times I've been in other sites and the noise wasn't an issue and we've stayed here at least 3-4x. It's not glamorous, it doesn't have a ton of extra like a pool, putting greens, pool table, snack bar, etc. But it does have a small, shaded kids play area, volleyball net, basketball hoop, shaded picnic tables. It's so country feeling and relaxing. Its quiet & thats what I prefer when I go camping. This is one of my favorite camping spots in the cooler months of early Spring like March. One day I'd like to come here & camp on my way to Yosemite or Kings Canyon. Great rates & highly suggest.

I am a big fan of KOA and have stayed at all of the three levels that I thought they had up till…read morenow. This one is a small KOA - the manager tells me it's the first KOAExpress. The other levels, journey, destination and resort are increasingly fancy, but generally have some kind of market, a cafe or restaurant, pools, jacuzzis and the like - more so at the higher levels. Well, this one was a fraction of the size of most of those. it was very well kept, nice level paved sites, excellent bathrooms - two full bathrooms, where you get your own toilet, sink and shower and door It's essentially located right in the harbor, there's a gate that will get you to the docks. Including all the whale watching boats . A bunch of sea lions were my neighbors on a rock on the other side of the fence. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance as well, so that makes up for not having one on site

The spots are very close to each other, but this is a small campground, maybe 50 spots. The KOA person guided us into our spot, made it easy because if it was just me and the wife... well you know! Moss landing is an old fishing town, very small, abut very historical and interesting to walk around. The ocean beach is walking distance from the campground. I will return to this place, very safe and very secluded. Nice clean laundry room, landscaping is beautiful, location is in a very secluded area in the farming community. Very tight spots, you are really close to your neighbor. But that's OK, this is a place you stay at, and go out during the day to see the sites around the area. There is no stores or restaurants in the area. Only one deli (which is really good but only open to 3pm). So you will need to have food and supply with you.
