I walked into modern nails and was greeted by the person at the desk who is very nice. I did not have an appointment and I asked if I could get a regular gel manicure. And they were able to get me in. There was nobody else in the building, but the staff. The lady then told me to pick out the color I wanted from the pallet of colors at her station. I picked one that I really liked and she told me she didn't have it, so I picked another color from the pallet. She told me to choose from, only for her to tell me it was going to be another $15 for the color that I wanted. I don't mind paying for, but she made it a big deal that I chose a chrome top. (If you don't want people to get that, don't put that on your gel palette). Anyways, all the lady did was buff my nails, and cut my cuticles, polish, and literally 40 second hand massage. Whatever happened to soaking the hands? Is that another thing anymore? The lady was very rough while she was cleaning my nails. To the point where the pressure hurt. And she nicked me a few times while she was buffing the nails as well. My nails did come out looking nice, which I appreciate. But the quality of the service was the poorest. I have seen in a very long time. They really need to do better and take the time with their clients. There was no need to rush. It's not like there was a line out the door. read more

I chose a red and they said they could not do that particular one so I was rushed into picking a color I did not love. I asked for chrome on top and never got it. The polish is all over my nails. It's been a couple years since I gave this nail salon another chance and the service I had this time was really rough, almost painful. At one point I had a couple of red dents in my fingers that stayed for half my manicure from the nail tech pushing on my finger so hard that she dug her nail into my finger. Ouch. Just not a gentle or relaxing experience for me. My nails feel like they were filed too thin, my cuticles are raw from the electric file, and my hands were left powdery. I will say that my nail tech did trim my cuticles, but again it was rough and a little painful. read more

Run and go somewhere else. The customer service is the worst I've ever experienced. Hemming and hawing with every thing my wife asked for that was suppose to be included. My tech was good and she deserved a tip and my wife's wasn't. We decided not to tip him because of some comments he had made. Then they approached my wife first and then me expecting a tip for him. They made a scene. I guess the 140.00 we spent there while they were robbing us of services wasn't good enough. There's plenty of great places out there but steer clear of this place. The lady was very rude and un-professional. She was doing a full acrylic set, and I had showed her the length and shape and things like that, she seemed irritated. I was thinking to myself, eh maybe she's having a rough day. I've also had my rough days. But then she kept grabbing my hand and tugging it when it wasn't close enough to her until I almost fell out of the chair. Second, she made my sister ( who was with me) pay in the middle of her doing my nails, she made it seem like we didn't have enough money to get it done. Which i thought was pretty rude but I ignored it and didn't say anything. She was quite intimidating, and I had an anxiety attack when she was yelling at me. The gel polish was wet and I was going to put it in the dryer and I had accidentally hit the dryer with my wet finger nail, I went to apologize and she screamed BE CAREFUL. as if there wasn't 9,000 more scratches of gel polish on there and on the inside, She had me so freaked out when putting my hands in the dryer, I had accidentally did it again with the different finger. the lady GROWLED at me! I had gone here for a gel mani and pedi. I had called that morning and they got me right in when I arrived. The customer service is also super pleasant and meticulous when they are working on my nails! The reason for 3 stars is that I called and asked for pricing and the man on the phone said a gel mani was 30$ and the pedi I pick was 50$...when I went up to pay there is no pricing on the wall and I was charged $95! For a gel mani and pedi, I have never been charged that much and the 30+50=80. I can do simple math and I was like what was the extra $15 for I had no designs or extras, just plain colors. My sister, best friend and I went to fashion nails & beauty spa today to get a gel mani/ pedi. We were extremely disappointed by not only the service we received but the lack of care given to our requests. I asked for my nails to be kept long and they were chopped as short as they could go. We felt rushed and each service was the quickest I have ever received in my life. This could have been fine if the quality was okay and prices were low but it was over $200 for the 3 of us and our nails look worse than if we had done them on our own. Our cuticles weren't pushed down (just quickly and aggressively filed off), our hands weren't soaked in water and no lotion was used. The paint job went over onto skin and had some spots with clumps and some with transparent polish. I never write reviews, but I needed to write this so people know DO NOT go to this salon. read more

If I am going to visit a nail salon on Market Street, this is usually where I have gone to do it. I can't say anything for the other nail salons because this is the only spot and it can be hit or miss on experience. A few times I have gone on my lunch break to get a quick manicure and they have been super good. I have also gone for pedicures and they have done a mediocre job with trying to get us in and out. It has felt rushed where they don't let you enjoy the whole relaxing pedicure experience. It's not always like this but it definitely can be. Manicures are $15, it's a bit more expensive than some others I have been to where it is $10-$12. The manicure and nail polish definitely stays on for me, which is surprising because I work with my hands a lot when renovating (I do wear gloves) but it stands pretty well. If you get a good nail technician the better, some I wish I could skip but I don't have a favorite person yet. Nice décor, clean and very new looking, they even have a dog that hangs around! Updating to 2 stars as my nails were already peeling and chipping by day 2 when I'd expect at least a week of I'm not doing any heavy work with my hands. I've also noticed that the gel is uneven and I can see my natural nail color in some spots. Had an apt. with a friend joining me. I had the taller of the two male techs--this tech cut me twice in same spot. When I yelped out loud there was some inter-employee talking about it--I think he was being called out by the other tech. He then seemed angry at me and appeared to hate his job. I left without my calluses being improved at all. my feet did not feel smooth. My polish was mediocre, the shape of the big toenails not in line with others. Came here while visiting family. It looks like it's new. The foot tubs, furniture and entire decor is very lovely and modern inside. When we waked in there was only one employee and she was doing a pedicure. I was concerned we would have to wait. However, 5 more employees came out and took care of us. They all seemed to work together to accommodate us, which is great customer service. The music playing was nice and comforting. There are also televisions that are muted, at least while we were there. We were given a laminated paper with the various options for pedicures. The least expensive is the Hot Stone Pedicure for $30. I think that is a bit expensive; but I'm comparing this to the pedicures in my city. I would expect if you combine it with a manicure, you would pay a better price. They do a great job taking care of everything here. From spa like treatment, good massages and making your nails look so pretty. I wish they had more unique colors for gel nails and that they remember to take the top coat on gel nails before they soak your fingers in acetone. Otherwise it'll take a half hour to get the color off. Lastly, they always have a very interesting movie playing while they do your nails and sometimes I wish to stay and finish the movie. read more

I had an incredible experience at this salon this week. The service was great. I was made to feel like visiting royalty from the moment I walked through the front door until I left the salon. I was greeted by one of the employees who took my jacket and hung it up for me. I was seated promptly after that. The pedicure turned out to be one of the best I have ever had. "Mark" took his time and was very cordial when I changed my mind about what pedicure I wanted and when at the last minute, I asked for some art on my toes. He did an incredible job with my old feet. this place is clean, has nice decoration and has good pricing. however, the staff is highly rude for the most part. i went just yesterday with one of my friends. we both got fills for our acrylics. she was cut three times by a nail drill, and i twice. her technician was very rough with her hands, and so was mine. they do not listen to what we want either. i said to shorten my nails a little bit, and he shortened it to my fingertip. that was NOT a little bit. i used to love that place, but from their new management, they've gone downhill. not impressed. read more

Waited mid-day for a pedicure and was passed over by someone who just walked in. Then when finally seated in a chair, found that a man's pedicure is the same price as a woman's even though it's shorter and doesn't have nail polish. Ok, then this better be good. The pedicure was short even though I paid extra for an extended massage.
